we travel 25/8 we all got our jabs as a precaution as my littleone also has health problems so i decided better be safe than sorry, you dont need them for sharm but my doctor advised us to have them, they were free off charge so that was ok , your arm gets a little ache but nothing much.
I guess if you have small children its best to get them protected, would never forgive myself if they caught anything.
ok everyone can someone out there help me i want to go somewere different next year so ive decided on egypt sharm el sheikh to be precise, but i have a few questions that i need answering first of all,to i need the injections are they compulsary or volunterey,2nd thinking of going january for some winter sun but will it be warm enough to sunbathe and maybe have a little dip in the sea,3rd question cant decide on which hotel am thinking of going allinclusive have read some good reviews on the hotels but still cant decide which ones would you recommend, and finally my passport expires april 06 will i still be alright to travel in januarary or will i have to have it renewed all info very much appreciated thank you in advance(amanda)
As for all inclusives - unless you are on a really strict budget, I wouldn't go all inc. There are so many lovely restaurants in Naama Bay to dine at, it would be a shame to miss them.

went all inclusive and i would recommend it. i was a bit dubious about it as i'm on a special diet for medical reasons but it was great and its probably worth it for the drinks, water, ice-cream that you really appreciate in the heat!! our all inclusive at the coral sea resort was a good deal but we still ate out as it was cheap.
our airport guide was talking about sharm in the winter - he said the temperature is still 30-35. i looked up the temperature before i left and it said that daytime was about 30 but when we landed last thursday it was 37 at 9pm!!
got my jabs anyway - as i do a bit of travelling and once you get them with boosters then you can avoid them for awhile. my friend is a nurse and she recommends the hep A especially as you never know if you'll require emergency dental/medical treatment in countries that don't have as high hygiene standards.
happy holidays - i'm just back after my first visit and i'm miserable, i had an amazing holiday and i'm hoping (funds permitting) to go back in the winter

Wondering if you can help me, I am planning a surprise holiday to Sharm for 1 week in march for my boyfriends 40th. As i dont want to tell him how does this stand for any jags needed and are they essential.
Thanks
Sylvia
Their is no charge at your local doctors or clinic.
Malaria is not required. jabs are only reccomended and are not compulsary, remember that your insurance company may not pay out if you are unlucky and fall ill with one of the above.
We did not need hepatitis A as we had it in 99 and it lasts 10 years.
Hope this thread helps--Better to be safe than sorry.
do i really need it i am dead set against it
We are just back from Sharm, and had the jabs we needed (had some in 2000 for Tunisia).
I would always have them if there is a chance you may contract something, better to be safe than sorry.
It takes less than a minute, (I would say) for the nurse to give them.
Four of us went, none of us had anything near a bad tummy or anything else for that matter!!
Enjoy your holiday, whatever you decide.

I can not have Hep A jab due to a medical condition but was advised by a travel agent Jabs for Sharm are not compulsary.I am covered for everything else but still worried as Hepatitus is something I can do without.Would anyone who has been take the risk and go regardless?
Don't take the risk Jay,be safe not sorry
Did any of you get the nescessary injections before going, I phoned up to my doctors 2 weeks ago which would have given me 5 weeks before I go, they cannot fit me in untill the 20th, for me and my 2 boys my hubby can't have his until 27th, we go on the 2 feb, now am thinking is it worth it.
I phoned up to my treatment room, 5 weeks before I am due to go, me ,my hubby and 2 sons 13, 16 they can not fit me in until the 20th for me and my sons and 27th for my hubby we leave to go to eygpt on the 2nd feb, I will still have them but have I left it to late for them to take affect.

regarding injections myself and hubby been 8 times in last 3 yrs to sharm and taba, and have had no injections, are they necessary. we always book our holidays over the internet so dont get an opportunity to ask about injections. ps we have both been fine everytime we went.
thanks briar for that - i hate injections but going to ring my gp tomorrow to make an appointment. i came back from the maldives in october with chicken pox!!! not taking anymore health risks!!!!!
Was all set to have every injection advised, but have just been to the surgery and been handed forms to complete for all 3 of us. It costs £5.00 per person to return the forms!
Injection prices are give as follows:
Hep A - £20.00 each. Hep A booster (to complete course) £15.00 each.
Hep B - £50.00 per course (Somebody PLEASE tell me we don't need these?!) Hep B booster - £15.00 each.
Rabies/encephalitis - £15.00 each.
Malaria - £11.50 each. Am told the youger girl wouldn't have to pay for Hep A.
Am I being ripped off here?
I am a single unemployed parent, won my trip and got heavy reductions on the kids' or there is no way we'd be going. I get free prescriptions. Am I really going to have to PAY all of that?????
If anybody knows ANYWHERE in Scotland (preferably Edinburgh/Fife way - but I'll travel) where we could walk in and get the necessary, PLEASE, post ASAP!
Ta,
Meg
From your list the only injection I had was Hep A, I also had the usual DTP and typhoid.
None of our family paid for these injections but had we needed the malaria, Hep B or rabies injections then we would have been charged.
We only went to Sharm where none of those are needed but obviously you're travelling further, maybe there's a malaria/rabies risk there. I don't know anything about Hep B but will have a look on the internet and see what I can find out!
