Still looking, on my travels I found this malaria map.....
http://www.fitfortravel.scot.nhs.uk/Country/Egypt_Malaria_Map.htm
THIS CHART, you may not need Hep B.
Same HERE, says it's sometimes recommended.
NHS advice HERE.
Looking at the ways in which Hep B is passed on, I personally wouldn't have the vaccination as I don't think I'd be at risk.

We have just visited our docs travel clinic. My husband and I (no royal connection ) had to have hep A and typhoid (one injection) and because our polio was overdue another injection combining tetanus, polio and diptheria. None of this was charged for. The maleria was not recommended for the sharm area.
They don't charge for injections for under 16s. and when I pointed out my 17 yr old is still in full time ed. they didn't charge for her either. So, total was £15.00 for the 3 forms/applications and £20.oo for my hep. A.

We go in four weeks and no probs with dates, didnt have to pay anything and they had put together a pack of health info for Egypt for us such as what to eat/ drink, helpline numbers, what to do if bitten, stung etc. Really useful stuff and great service!!
No need for malaria in Sharm apparently!
We had our vaccinations last April at the doctors, the practice nurse did them and we did not have to pay anything, (2 adults and 1 child).
oh no PANIC!!!! - ive just read this and didnt even realise we needed injections to go to Sharm. we go in 3 and a half weeks -is it too late?? am i reading correctly that their advisable and NOT compulsary..
Only advised Lyn I think it probably is too late, but do check with your GP surgery tomorrow. Many people travel to Sharm without having had vaccinations.
Thanks pippy - will ring in the morning . Im in " holiday shopping" mode at the moment. now injections to think about . that will teach me . I thought I knew everything

Don't know if its just in Scotland that you pay or if its the whole country.
Not looking forward to sore arm(s)!!!!
Lorna
I had all of those injections when I went to the Domincan republic - and didn't have to pay - the only things I had to pay for were the Malaria tablets as I had to get them from the chemist.
yep - the 5 of us had ours last night Hep A, typhoid, and the 3 in one combined - one in each arm and the combined one in the bum . We dindt have to pay as the nurse had them there. although i had to get a prescription for the younger childrens hep a as they wernt kept at surgery but obviously we didnt pay for them as they were for the children
Had the injections on Thursday, so now all complaining of sore arms & bum!
Feeling quite sorry for ourselves but at least we've had them.
strange how it varies isn't it, cos we had the same injections but all in our arms..no bums at all!! Still sore though and I had a bad reaction to one of them!
me and hubby had our jabs on friday = Hep A, typhoid, and the 3 in 1 combined - 2 in one arm 1 in the other, have sore arms but its all done now and no charge.... dont understand why some doctors charge and some don't !!!!!
Do you have to have for Egypt?
Make an appointment and they will tell you which ones are required. We made ours with the nurse.
Michelle.
yes, yes , yes ,yes!!!
Oh dear... we are travelling to El Gouna on Fri and booked holiday last minute - all our vaccinations are up to date, but my daughter decided to come with us and have just realised that she hasn't had any - probably not even a tenanus in last ten years??
