hi we are traveling to ses on 4 august, we had our injections this week, you need hep A and typhoid, these are given in 1 injection. in adults and 2 in children. had a slightly sore arm for a day but now fine, nurse did tell us though to wear plenty of mozzie repelant.
Why is the vaccine in your fridge??? We just booked an appointment with the nurse and it was done there and then, at no cost??? That was last year, and I have just made an appointment for a booster, so then we shall be covered for about three years.
Kids will be fine by the way, my youngest [13] hates jags and she was fine. They are not nearly as bad as they were years ago!! What ages are they?
Different GP's have different funding arrangements some are free, some you pay for the price fo a prescription and others charge extortionate fees!!! you were the lucky one by the sounds of it!!
My Doctor just gave me a prescription and i had to collect from the chemist and take it to the nurse on the day, i did collect it 5 mins before my appointment but last time i needed jabs i had mine in the fridge for a couple of days . My husband goes to a different surgery and he went straight to the nusre and she gave him prescription on the day and he had to go straight back after the chemist i guess every surgery is different.
I was lucky only needed Typhoid this year as im up to date with everything else.

At my surgery have to get prescription for holiday injections - just as well kids free or would have cost fortune ! Picked them up last week and had to store them in fridge. Kids weren't too bad although son (7) wasn't keen on getting 2nd one !! Daughter (11) cried the most - 1 of my arms a bit sore today but better safe than sorry Cant wait - less than 5 weeks now.

I see... this must be one thing our surgery has got right then!! Four weeks on thursday...
Hi everyone, just read this yesterday and threw myself in a panic. We are going in 4 weeks and was under the impression you didn't need any injections, went up to the docs and was told me and other 1/2 need Hep A boosters and the kids need polio booster typhoid and Hep A. My friend who has just come back from Kenya says that when she went for her Hep A the nurse told her that you are just a likely to contract Hep A here as anywhere else so it's worth having anyway. It is better to be safe than sorry at the end of the day.
going soon to sharm soon, been looking at diffrent reviews which vary on advice, been on the department of health which if diffrent again and been to doc who say i need jags for hep a,typhod, dip and tetnis can any one help
HI - I got hep a, typhoid and polio. My polio was a 3 in 1 for tetanus, diptheria and polio if this makes sense Apparently injections keep changing so maybe not everyone gets tetanus and diptheria when they get polio. Hope this helps.
We got ours free from our GP, and with boosters you are covered for future years holidays.
It's only a little prick after all .

We weren't sure about jabs, but decided to have them, Hep A, Typhoid, Diptheria, Tetanus and Polio......NOT Malaria.

We and "her in doors" had Hep A and Thyphoid. We were both up to date with our Polio and tetnus. I'd say have everything they advise.
thanks for that, went to to doc's today, getting jags tommorow afternoon, looking forward to it NOT, getting the works just incase,
have it done in the arm that you dont write with, as it may become achey. and go back 6 months later for a booster which last for ten years. julie
jags
murdo, you must be rich if you're getting
Intrigued me as well. Is that Scottish lingo or what?
Yes an injection is called "jag" in some parts of Scotland, and we had our 'jags' this afternoon.
Just to mention we were advised that there is a national shortage of tetanus, polio and dip all in one vaccination. We were told they are being held back for teenagers at high school. Not sure if this is in Scotland only or nationwide.
We may be able to get them specially ordered as single vacs next week. Keep you all posted.

You must excuse Everest, he thinks that Mrs E is the only one allowed to say words he doesn't understand!
Got all our jags two weeks ago on my sons birthday - He didn't like his birthday pressent much (I don't kow why?) He's even less impressed about having to have his booster Hep A for his Christmas. (who say's nurses don't have a sense of humour !!)
Sounds like most of you got all the jags you needed. For those of you wondering if you need them or not, it's better to put up with a little discomfort for a day or so in your arm than to have the diseases.
