jim thats looks the exact same to the cat i kept seeing near to where i was staying at pafos, obviously not the same but identical.
Most Hotels have Cats ,as Jim said they keep the crawlies down ,
What would you rather see a cat or Spiders as big as your fist near your sunbed.
Last year at the Athena we saw a cat with a snake,or was it a hosepipe?
I think I will stay off the Keo.

Jim that's a gorgeous cat you have
Can you please tell what Pano Paphos and Kato Paphos mean, and also did you drink any Zivania while you were in Paphos?
Regards John
The exact translation: Pano Paphos is 'UP Paphos' and Kato Paphos is 'DOWN Pahphos' but it doesn't really sound right in english. Put it this way kato paphos is the tourist area. Yea i drank Zivania, strong stuff. You thinking of going to Cyprus?
Kato Paphos is the harbour town area and the other paphos is the old town, old town has a brilliant market and has loads of designer shops kato paphos is a harbour lovly tourist shops, even has pizza hut and maccy d's!!!! Mental i know, they have an aquarium but it is not all that good because it is very dear and not much to see so save your money for fassouri water park in limmasol which is fabulous!!! I love it soo much its class and a good day out we go 2 or 3 times , also go down to latchi and go on the class bottom boat its only about £8 you go out for an hour then get off and swim for an hour then an hour back free wine its brilliant lovly day. Im off tomorow flying from exeter we have a house there and my grandparents do too as they have emirgated there where it is now 50 degrees or more so you can imagine very very hot!!!! I cannot wait seriously im sooo excited, coral bay is a lovly place the beach is lovly all been done out now so looking very nice and new full of watersports jet skis are roughly £26 english but that is for 2 people to go on one so not too bad for about 25 mins any other questions give me a buzz as i am going tomoz so try and do so before!!
I would recommend the following restaurants in Paphos
Seagull,
Rock Garden (Indian)
Viva Cyprus
Za Za's
Hot Cup Cafe for a drink/light snack
Enjoy Paphos it's great

Hi, If you want a good beach go to coral bay it's about 15 min drive from paphos. Night life, go down bar street it's full of clubs, bars etc, i spent most of my time in bubbles and starsky n hutch. If you've got a car out there go go karting it's C£15 for 30 mins, it was a good laugh.
They are of course encouraged by the tourists who feed and pet them, they're never going to go away while all that is on hand!
By the way, I am more a dog person too, with my gorgeous GSD to keep me company while I wish my life away counting down to my next Cyprus visit!
That's a really sad way for people to treat animals, my two dogs are the most important things in my life (before the hubby and kids.............okay I'm kidding, but only sometimes!!).
When we were in Paphos I could hear a really young kitten crying in the brambles and I hurt myself trying to rescue the little thing! It's really upsetting.
On another note, what are these spiders and snakes etc. that you keep mentioning? I have never really thought that there might be sinister creatures in Cyprus! How big are these spiders again?
Another thing.............the 'family from hell' who rented out my villa tried to explain the 'little present' floating around in the pool as 'cat poop' (Yea right, I can just imagine it sat there with it's little bottom hanging over the edge of the pool!!!). They complained that we had a 'cat problem' around the villa. Well, the only cat I've EVER seen is a fat ginger one who belongs to a neighbour............................and if they didn't want cats, then it might have been a good idea to pick up spilt food, clean the bbq and not leave plates of half eaten food outside!!
Rant over,
Lisa,x
(Can't wait for Saturday!! Big Grin on face!!)
One question why do the holiday reps not warn you of this at your meetings? they should, if bitten by a blunt nose viper you have about an hour to get to a hospital, it happened recently to a young Cypriot lad..he did not make it..this is not scare mongering, just do a http://www.google.com search on both of these topics.. avoid open rural land in early spring, can be a dangerous time of the year...late January February time...
I am sorry if this may scare a few of you that may not know about this, but I think it best you are aware of this in CY...it's not a problem really it is second nature to look before doing any walking in rural areas at certain times of the year..I t is very unlikly you will ever see a snake or a decent spider in the holiday areas, but if you do travel a little inland, you just may..

" Where do tarantulas live?
They can be found in the south- and west parts of the USA, Central America and down throughout South America to the southern parts of Chile, Argentina. Tarantulas can also be found throughout Africa, large parts of Asia and all over Australia. In Europe, there are some species in Spain, Portugal, Italy, Turkey and in Cyprus. Around 840 described species have been found over the world. They live in warm climates - in dry hot semi-deserts or in humid rainforests. Most are terrestrial and live in burrows, but some are arboreal, e.g. Avicularia.

Think we're going to SnakeGeorge this time.....well I hope we are
My son and d-i-l have lived in Cyprus two years and not saw a snake or
a spider, and I've never saw any when there.

Tarantulas?! Vipers?! Oh Gawd! Give me lovely cats any time! Jimbox your cat is absolutely GORGEOUS! Although we saw loads of cats in Paphos they didn't bother us at all - I felt sorry for them as they all looked so thin and in need of a good meal poor wee things.
The go karting was good, its 1300metre track which is not far from a mile. Best one ive been on yet.
As cat lovers and owners we always look for the cats especially the annual set of kittens that are to be found at our hotel. We feed them and have called them to our sun beds. We did not realise people were scared of cats (blinded by our obsession) until we met a lady at our hotel who told us she was petrified of cats. We felt really bad after that and made sure we did not encourage the cats when there were other holiday makers around who may not appreciate them like we do.
Dont mind the cats not looking forward to the snakes and spiders have a real phobia of them have a panic attack when i see a little spider will have a nervous breakdown if i see a bigger one
I went to the reptile park in pafos, this bloke that worked there got a snake out it was complete black, it wasnt venamus, but he put it on me, everyone started taking pictures, he then walked away and i was lumbered with it, i was quite scared, then it started curling round my arm and neck. The bloke didnt come back for about 10mins but seemed a lifetime.
