yeah we flow into larnaca from heathrow and then we got taxi to paphos.
Can anyone tell me what its like in terms of facilities etc please ?

There is a definate luggage problem there. We had to wait over an hour when we got there the other Wednesday. Coming home flights were getting delayed right , left and centre because the luggage wasn't getting loaded in time. Facilities wise it's no better or worse than anywhere else, fairly standard.
Getting your luggage is a BIG problem, I'm sure its just down to the amount of flights they have coming in on those days I think we've usually had to wait 45 mins to an hour. East Midlands Airport here is just as bad at getting your bags through and thats when they've just got one flight coming in at a time! We've flown out of Larnaca 7 times now and out of the 7 I think we've been delayed 6 times but I'm sure thats not all down to the airport as we've been delayed going out of East Mids alot as well. Its all part of the holiday experience and there's not alot you can do about it definiately wouldn't stop me going!
first time there last sept and cant really remember much about it so it mustnt be that bad.

Mad house it is Sunday, great start to your holiday last Sept 45mins for the cases,at least ours were in one peice not like another couple both very badly damaged.take it in your stride untill a new airport is built it will get no better.
the airport just cannot cope at peak times told it is worst on wednesdays than sundays check in a little chaotic on return,i think they are going to expand the airport soon
I did hear they wanted to extend the airport but the land is owned by a Turkish Cypriot and he wouldn't let them build anymore
It's the pits,We will not return to Cyprus until it is improved.We had to wait well over an hour for cases on arrival,with flights all arriving at the same time and only about 3 carousels and misinformation on each one.It really is a safety hazard and how no-one ever gets injured is a mystery as everyone is rushing about looking for luggage ect at the wrong places.

All this negativity about Larnaca airport, to br fair i've never had a problem there.
I always get out pretty quickly.

If you want a bad airport try Heraklion airport in Crete. Thats got to be the worst airport I have been through.

Over the 10 yrs ive been visiting Cyprus the airport has been improved i must admit though ive never realy had too much of a problem on arriving yes its a bit hectic but there againwhat holiday airport isnt in the holiday season , at least there are facilities to pass the time , shop , a trolley that sells refreshments (or your first keo of the holiday) so the hour passes quite quick , ive had a few delays coming back but never too long ive had more waiting at manchester than larnaca over the years as to not going back cos of an hours wait i take it you never travel by train in this country 
qatarman,it wasnt 60 minutes it was well over that and in a horrible freightening atmosphere,with everyone unsure about their luggage.
This isnt how i want to start my holidays,so we will not be visiting again until it is better,back to Ibiza this year.An island that probably has less visitors than Cyprus but a far better airport and far better beaches as well.

I've been going to Cyprus for the past 18 years mostly 3 times a year and I can't say I've really ever had any major problems......some flight delays but the airport is much improved to a few years ago and I've never had any major probs with waiting for luggage either.
You should try my next fav island of Zante to see a really, really bad airport
They've been promising to improve it for the last 12 years

when we flew back from Cyprus our plane took off an hour early because everyone was there on time.
The luggage belts break down a lot (temporarily) which can cause problems on arrival and check in to go home. They stop moving everytime something touches the side - so a bag strap is enough to cause an unnecessary hold-up!
Delays on the whole are not bad though, you hardly ever get big delays like some other European airports do (Palma springs to mind!).
The airport could do with updating but they do their best and it's really not that bad!! You may have to queue in a long wiggly line to check in if you go home on a wed or sun but you will get there in the end!!
At the end of the day it serves it's purpose, I wouln't worry about it, just look forward to your holiday!

ever been to zante? the smallest, busiest airport i have ever been to. long queues outside in the boiling sun no edible food inside, flights always delayed. but this hasnt stopped us from going back four times it is all part of your holiday. i think some people complain too easily! and as for the beaches being better in ibiza i dont think so. we found them covered in dogs muck. cyprus beaches are the best i have ever seen and are well worth putting up with silly little things like waiting for your luggage.

we have only visited the east coast where the best beaches are supposed to be.The best beach was at Protaras but was like sardines - apart from that the beaches are poor I thought.
The only problem with dog dirt in Ibiza is the prom at Santa Eulalia,I have been to Ibiza on many occasions and never seen dog mess on a beach.

The best beaches *are* at the Protaras end...but you have to know where to find the really good ones. As you say, the ones every-one knows about are packed in Summer. We stay away from those as there are *far* better
