Hi all newcomers
A brief summary is that many were offered a cruise with Louis Cruises, ( including Libya) with dates around May/ June. These did not take place and many were not told they were not happening. Following exposure in the media a few were offered cruises. After a lot of complaining some more were offered cruises, many of which have now taken place. Offers were made of vouchers etc in place of a cruise.
The only advice I can give is refuse all other offers and complain to anybody you can think of. I know I only got my offer after frequent phone calls, and daily emails to R*** and to the DE. Whatever you are offered insist on sticking as close as possible to the T&C's published in the DE.

As you say the Venice film festival started yesterday at the Lido so you may spot a star or two on your travels. It finishes on the 10th so do you suppose there is a chance Angelina Jolie has booked herself onto the Opera to unwind after the stresses of the festival?

but apparently they are in the post. I certainly hope so as the nerves are starting to get a little frayed.

Due to pressure of other things over the last couple of months andcombined with this my hard drive failing a number of weks ago I have not ben able to keep up to date with what is happening. I have been flicking back over several pages of postings to find mention of the fact that the Daily Express has apparently issued a standard type of letter to all of us who have not yet had our cruise. I have not received any communication at all from them regarding this or my previous complaints regarding this promotion. They did not even respond to the complaint sent on my behalf by the BBC Northern Ireland radio programme of that name.
As soon as I fully catch up I will do some more shouting and screaming to the DE and Rise.

Hi Kilkeel it looks as if Rise is now out of the picture and the DE have taken over the whole promotion. There have been some rumours about other travel companies getting involved but my letter said the DE were now dealing with it and please be patient. 
You could e-mail Watchdog the programme is starting a new series on next Tuesday and they do reply to e-mails. I wrote to the DE to ask if I was on their list of eligible readers and got the standard letter in reply. Keep up the pressure we will get our cruises in the end. Carol R

Hi Phil, I rang MSC yesterday as I had a querie for them and they had no problems finding me on the passenger list. We sail the week before you and it all looks good at the moment for everyone that is booked.
My sister is still waiting for her cruise and has heard nothing from DE.

Hi Phil I certainly cannot compare with dear Magsy I am just passing on what is in my letter from the DE. Clearly Rise is still dealing with the confirmed cruises and they are the ones sending out the tickets, yours will be with you soon I am sure, they are evidently no longer involved in allocating cruises as they were before. I don't know about MKM they were not mentioned in the letter as far as I remember. I am delighted you are now allowed the red stuff I always just count glasses

Just phoned R*** and they said that they have received and sent the tickets for the cruise on the 12th today (1st class)

Just to say my tickets are now safely in my possession - at last. They were posted out direct from MSC yesterday. MikeC, I am sure yours will be on their way!
Phil, Rise are still taking care of the cruises booked through them, so if you have any queries they and MSC will be who you should get in touch with.
Until the situation with the replacement travel agent is cleared up it seems as if those still waiting are in limbo. The Going Places letter sounds hopeful though so I hope that something comes of that.

Have a great time those of you off next week. I can recommend the house red wine, Juro and Phil even though my doctor says I should not drink. Am off wine at the moment - had too much on the QE2 thanks to my (female) doctor friend from New Mexico!

But how are Going Places going to make a profit out of selling £10 cruises? The only way they are going to make any money is if the DE subsidise the cruises. Otherwise it's going to be the Rise fiasco all over again.

Maybe they're not! As a high street travel agent, unlike Rise, they need to advertise. Perhaps some sort of deal has been struck with the Express Group.
Can someone tell me where this Going Places connection originated? Has anyone other than Cruiser been made aware of this?
Hopefully all those waiting for news will hear something positive soon. Perhaps DE are waiting to make an announcement which will put them in a good light on Watchdog!

Have just noticed I have earned my first star so feel compelled to become more active with persuing the DE for the promised cruise. My letter was received on July 29th requesting that I be patient, but I feel that my patience it is now starting to wear a little thin and I should now expect, as their letter said, a representative to contact me in the near future. As a starter think I will contact Watchdog again, they should have a nice collection of e mails for the start of the new series from we £10 cruisers who are still waiting for our promised cruises. Cannot remember which of the presenters it was on the special progamme on Tuesday who said the Hoover flight deal was one of their best moments on the programme, perhaps one of the current presenters would like the DE £10 Cruise to be their special moment?

I wonder why the DE chose the My Travel /Going Places group to take over this offer. Of all of the " big four" travel companies they are in the worst financial position. In fact last year it was touch and go if they would survive. The banks were calling in loans and they were losing money hand over fist. How they think that they can gain financialy with this DE offer is beyond me.

Glad to hear you are on the passanger list Dizzy, hopefully the rest of are too. Only a month to go now, after so long it is finally getting close.

well - the tickets arrived this morning for the cruise
doesn't look like i got an upgrade but i will only be sleeping changing etc in the cabin so not to worry
at least i now know it is going to happen
