Take a look at:
http://www.palolem.com
Great website that details information on cocohut accommodation, with telephone numbers, email addresses, etc. There are also some good accommodation reviews.
Hope this helps.
Sorry Sharon, hadn't realised you'd already recommended this website!
Heres a good site with picks of the huts and prices also email addy
http://www.chayagladpalace.com seems quite a cool place
sharon
Ive just emailed the beach huts to ask if I need to pre book or just turn up. Im probably going to do 4 nights from 26th Jan The only thing that bothers me is security as I dont want to go all the way there and not take my camera with me. but i dont really want to have to carry it everywhere i go and it dosnt look secure enough to leave it in my hut.
Any suggestions? Polite ones only
I know what you mean -but the huts we were in were well looked after. You could also ask the people who run the bar if you could leave valubles with them - quite a few in our bar did.
Thanks Spike, Im always careful with my valubles coz i dont have that many but i would leave the majority of stuff back in my safe in Candolim. It was mainly my camera id be gutted if someone nicked that so leaving it behind the bar seems like a good idea. Saves lugging it around everywhere.
Spikes right .... we left our valuables in the care of the owner of the huts we stayed in. These people are so genuine and honest they certainly wouldn't disappear with your valuables, of that I'm sure. These people rely on tourism and wouldn't want their reputations tarnished.
hi rogueslayer, type in to a search engine (i used yahoo)Palolem goa huts tents, and you find some alternatives to the afor mentioned web sites and some more besides. Some of the info on these pages is most interesting and useful.I actually wish i had seen these sites before i booked in the north because they took me back to the goa i new as a kid.
Has anyone stayed at Dunes Holiday Village on Mandrem Beach? I am thinking of spending a couple of days of my holiday in a beach hut & was initially considering Palolem Beach however l have since heard that this location is now extremely busy & touristy. I have been looking on the net & Dunes Holiday Village seems ideal & the prices very reasonable, any info re Dunes or any other recommendations appreciated & how far is Mandrem from Calangute. Thanks in advance.
I believe a friend of mine came to goa and went off for one night to stay in a beach hut on stilts........................anyone have any information???
Hi, I've seen some of these at Ashvem beach, when we asked earlier this year we were told about £2 each per night. My other half had a look inside one and thought it was great. Hope this helps.
We stayed in huts at Palolem a few years back and they were great. I understand there are now a lot more and the quality varies.
we stayed in a hut on stilts in mandrem, it was fantastic, we could see for miles down the coast from our "balcony", had a nice little restaurant there too, very quiet and peacefull. take some extra layers of clothes if you do go though because it gets quite cold at night. phil
could anyone give advice on this, on cost, transport, ect.
Try here Silent restaurant, (0) (91) 0832 297435 fax 0091832297375 about 40- 50 mins away from calangute
cheers for that, forgot to say were staying in candolim and whatis it like at mandrem.
We have been to Mandarim on a one day trip for the last 4 years..1st and 2nd time by local sightseeing boat from Baga beach, last year we hired two guys and a motorboat..the ride in itself it was a great experience btw.
However on all 3 trips we only stayed a few hours. There were only two maybe three shacks then, we used to cross the bridge and have lunch in the shack that does really good chinese food. The dormhouses on stilits looked interesting complete with mobile fan and mozzie nets over the bed...The communal toilets and shower seemed perfectly ok as well!
We went again in Feb of this year under our own steam and hired a jeep, there appeared to be lots more overnight accomodation and it was the first time we had seen "The Dunes Resort" which looked like it had some quite good quality tents as well as a few more places to eat and drink too..
It is still however very peaceful on the beach which is huge and partially empty, the sand is more finer and whiter than in the resorts...
Think we may give it a whirl next year and stay overnight too?
Sorry I have not got any costs of the accomodation per night, and in getting there. Think we may try to get a boat trip one way to drop us off and get a taxi back?
Sorry I can't be a bit more helpful...but you will certainly love it
Regards
Ann

Denis the owner has Coco and Tree huts, he also has a couple en suite if you want a bit of luxury !!.
The food and staff are excellent.
We booked them whilst we were in Candolim but you could email him in advance if you knew the dates you wanted to go.
