Regarding the food situation, is it advisable to stick to the veggie options? We are not big meat eaters anyway so this wouldnt be a chore but are there many veggie options? Can you only get salmanella through meat products?
thanks

Salmonella

Incubation period
12 to 72 hours.

Common clinical features
Diarrhoea, vomiting and fever.

Reservoir
Gastrointestinal tract of wild and domestic animals, birds (especially poultry), reptiles, amphibians (for example, terrapins), and occasionally humans.

Transmission
Predominantly from foodstuffs (most commonly red and white meats, raw eggs, milk, and dairy products) following contamination of cooked food by raw food or failing to achieve adequate cooking temperatures. Person to person spread from a case by close contact, usually during the acute diarrhoeal phase of the illness. Contact with infected animals.

Other relevant features
Secondary cases are common in outbreaks. Food handlers who practice good hygiene are very rarely responsible for initiating outbreaks.

Hope this helps, and have a great holiday :wave

Thanks V. much Katy's Clan. We'll be extra careful. From reading the posts the quality of food has always been a problem since these villages opened you would think that now in October, this would no longer be an issue.

For those of you interested in Swim Kids we paid £50 for my 2 to have lessons i was shocked at the pool they chose to do it in. Kat is lovely and a great teacher. The 1st 3 lessons were in the Tropical pool under the slides. We had morning lessons and the pool was freezing as it had not had time to warm up but they never got warm anyway and in the afternoon if they had lessons it was in the shade by then and they were shivering like mad and my boy's lips were going blue. The pool is shoulder depth on an adult which i though was too deep.

My 3 year old had 3 lessons but we had to get in with her as it was to deep and the water far to cold. My son who has been having lessons for about a year did ok but was in tears half way though as he was freezing. She let them get out and wam up but they never wanted to get back in again when i went in one of the time it was really bl**dy freezing.

The last to lessons she moved into the indoor pool in the Tropical spa, it still was cold but you did not have the wind, Jack did really well and ended up in his last lesson swimming without hid armbands and then swam in the sea which was a great achievement.

We got a refund for Molly's lessons which was good, she did try but it was just to cold for her.

Hi All, I do agree with the dining situation, no dress code, children running around with plates in their hands, we eat in the outside restarant for most of the 14days and never had any problems with food, but i did say to my husband that the food in the outside looked better cooked and seved better and was less noisey,( im not being funny), but if you thought that food was basic, do not go to Tunisia, i have been to a large Iberostar hotel in Tunisia and the food was not as good as the PP, but on the other hand we have been to hotels in spain and the food was alot better, i think its due to Turkey and Tunisia being Muslim counties, if you look at other hotels in Turkey the menu is almost the same, we never had any ear infections, upset tummies, we saw some of the British familes who made you feel that you are not proud to be british

Just want to point out,we went to pegasus tropical for our honeymoon, and as a couple we could not fault the place,we did find the palace was more family orientated,so did not go there much ,but we found plenty to do entertainment wise and i would not tell other couples this is not for them ,because we enjoyed ourselfs and i would say go! we met loads of other cpls there and they were all happy enough!!!! sorry just had to let people know its good for couples and families!!! but yes it is aimed at familys,we were also not told at time of booking that both complexes were built purley for the british, which we were a bit annoyed about ...i wont go to a british hotel again mainly because the manners of a lot of people were appaling once they had drink in them...and most of these were the parents with young children!!

The tropical was initially going to be couples only but I think when FC saw the potential for money making, decided it would be better for families as well. I don't think with the slides at the tropical that you could have kept kids out of the place and if it was adults only, once you have been on the slides a few times like I did that was it and just left it for the "fearless" kids to enjoy.

Also imo we thought the food was good for the first few days then decended into what I would call mediocraty. With Monday being a big intake day, we felt they attempted to impress you at first then went back to normal. Whilst I saw afew of the reps eating breakfast, many of them ate out at night because I saw them when visiting Sarigerme in the evening. Perhaps that speaks volumes when they also are entitled to free food. Jusy my opinion and not trying to be controversial.

mealtimes were the only part of the holiday that i didn't look forward to. partly because of the canteen feeling. usually 2 would keep the table whilst the other 2 got the drinks. then hubby and one daughter went to the buffet, myself and other daughter went next so we all ended up eating at different times.
the blue towels for the sunbeds are also available at reception. on several occasions there were none at the hut when we got there. i asked at reception and they either handed them out there or phoned through to housekeeping and asked the maids to take more out to the hut which they always did promptly.

with all due respect lilacbunnykins we spent our honeymoon forty five years ago in Southall Middlesex and we could reccommend Southall middlesex to anyone going on their honeymoon, there again if we had spent it at Toxteth or Moss side we would enjoyed those places as well.

but if you have been married for for forty five years and havnt got your grankids along with you, then i can assure you pegasus palace is not the ideal holiday.

The dining room was a big turn off, reminded me of pontins holiday camp in blackpool, outside was much better with tables for two or more.

Some of the english guests were simply a disgrace to their country and themselves.

But the food was ok, the rooms much better than we thought they would be, the staff were friendly, and the whole complex amazing, but no one
wll convince me that this is a good holiday for couples without children

I just wanted to say that i stayed at the pp on the second week of it opening and even then i would not have called this the holiday from hell. I went with my husband and two children aged 5 and 3 and they really enjoyed it. Yes of course there was problems and i did find the food a bit repetitive but on whole i had a good holiday and i would definitely would not say it was a holiday from hell.

And i even looked into going back next year.

my pals have just returned after two weeks and have very mixed oppinions although they do mirror a lot of what has been said already... i have surfed the net and discovered that eating b6 or yeast based products such as marmite supposedly helps to repel the mossies, also eating bananas attracts them, which may explain why you dont see many bananas in Turkey, also the tumble drier sheats, Bounce, have many uses one of which is repelling Mossies.... you rub it all over, mmm nice, therefore i have Avon skin so soft. mossie repelant at 65% deet( not for the kids) marmite oooh lovely, (not ) for three weeks, although the family dont notice it in mince, antihistermine, and cream, i will also purchase Kapow and i have a mossie spray for the room and a plug in . i will have to pay excess baggage at this rate, Pepto bis mol, by the gallon oh yep this is going to be fun. i do however draw the line at walking round with a sprig of parsley behind my ear, as was suggested by a fisherman mate of mine, citronnella candles, and garlic by the bucket.
I will be the person who wears the same outfit for two weeks, with no mates, as i smell so bad with a cloud of mossies around me and absolutley covered in mossie bites.
Oh hey ho

My daughter went to swim kids with Kat, I thought the swim kids teachers were very good, the lessons were in a quiet area of the big pool but iit was a bit deep for a six year old, we went at beginning of september and they cut the lessons short as they said the pool was too cold, personally I didn't think they were and I asked why then they didn't have them in the inside pool but was told they weren't allowed to. Unfortunately Kat slipped in her bathroom and broke her thumb so she had to cancel the rest of the lessons, she was very appologetic and we were given a refund of the remaining lessons straight away. We still had the presentation and certificates were given out.

It sounds like standards are beginning to slip as some of the postings are beginning to sound very much like the ones posted at the beginning of the season

With all due respect, in order for standards to slip there had to be some in the first place  and there wasn't as far as food, restaurants/dining areas and the majority of other guests were concerned....

I agree with you Black Knight, whilst my husband and I enjoyed our holidayand my daughter had an absolutely wonderful time, I wouldn't have lasted two days without her. There is very little to do in the way of adult entertainment and it is a bit isolated to go for walks in the evening, and the town has very little to offer by way of entertainment. Perhaps this will change as the place becomes more developed, but it is not an area i would consider visiting again

Naturally i can only give an opinion of my time there, and I think we were lucky as apart from the ignorance of some of the guest who were the biggest let down to us, we didn't come across many of the problems that other holiday makers encountered. There is massive room for improvement which First Choice and Pegasus need to address mainly in ensuring that guests comply to the dress code etc and definately sorting out the fly situation in the dining room.

As i've said before we had a lovely time but wouldn't go back as an all english holiday village is not for us

JoandBeth, I am sorry if you felt that my post was directed at you personally, it was not my intention  , I just felt in my opinion, like you, that when we were there there was no standards in most areas... I have said before and I wil say again, the rooms and pools could not be faulted

Hi Kaysclan, no offence taken honestly, I normally go on holiday, enjoy it,come home and look forward to planning the next one but there's something about this one that keeps me coming back to this site.

It's been a strange one, full of contradictions, one minute I think yeah it was fab then I read postings and remember the not so good points and feel compelled to post, when really i'm on the net looking for next years holiday.

This site has been great and I think because we went more than prepared we manage to avoid some of the difficulties others have encountered and I genuinely think that the time we were there the hotel was doing its best to overcome some of the problems but judging by recent postings things (maybe standards wasn't the correct word to use) are definately slipping back. Sorry if i seem to be rambling but I hope you understand what i'm trying to put say

it seems to me reading these opinions for six months that the sooner they start advertising pegasus palace in germany, france holland and any other country that have people who want to come to turkey, the quicker this complex will be acceptable to the british, because by far the biggest criticism is the people you have to share this place with.

people who have been there have different opinions on ,food accomodation drinks etc, but all seem to agree that an all english resort in a foreign country isnt working

I understand 100%... I am the same, I just can't stay away from this site. I am intrigued to see what others think, it's like eaves dropping in some respects I suppose, you don't always hear what maybe you would like to  I think the fasination is because I am sooooo disapointed in First Choice and the Hotel this year, we have booked all our holidays with them over the past and had a brillint time every time but not this year unfortunately... This had put us off AI now, we think it's time to move away from it, I think it was all the British trying to guzzle as much "Free Booze" as posible that done it for us
Mo More AI and no more First Choice :wave
