if you really want to know what its like think of something like black death vodka on steroids thats not quite been refined as good as it could be as for the taste i try not to taste these type of drinks

1 buy bottle of beer as well
2 swig beer
3 neck fenney
4 swig beer
follow each procedure as quick as possible but make sure you dont leave any in glass or you may have to repeat
if your not sick keep doing it

I tried some Masala fenny in the Pooja Bar in Arpora, it's basically fenny mixed with spices. They reckon its good for colds, I think its probably an aquired taste You might want to bring some of this back. A good idea at the time

Spices, many taste much better over here (as they are fresher) and are MUCH cheaper. Also simple things like Garlics seem to be much better here and last longer

Honeybee, just because it is so cheap, also Vodka etc cheaper over here, although don't agree with the whole Fenny thing... Not really nice...

Soap, toothbrushes etc much cheaper.

For the artists, good pencils, chalk etc are SO cheap here in comparision.

Also pens, markers, Diaries etc too...

Books, computing books are SO cheap here, but can weigh a bit.. other books available too....

Local food from the roadside, chicken rolls (Mapusa, near the bus stand in the evening) - or from royal foods, samosa's, the dairy in Calangute are good, egg roll, near fish market in Calangute, don't know what they're called but a plate with potatoe balls wich bombay type mix, apple sauce, chilli etc put on top (10 rs) and they're lovely!, in Panjim, near the fruit market there's a drink stall (small thing on wheels) which makes a FABULOUS fresh lime soda for 7 rs (was 6rs but put his price up :o(), inside the market there is also a great place for banana milkshakes...

Cinema ticket, Panjim has a lovely cinema, got to be tested just as they sstand up for the national anthem... By the way if there's any mildly rude bits in a film they'll get removed so best watching PG films... :o)

Get your eyes tested and buy your glasses there, so cheap, best place we fuond in Mapusa market, also face creams and moisturisers, brand names very cheap but also some great ones we dont get here. shoes gorgeous and also very cheap, pretty much most things really!!!

I love the idea of shoes. I just love them! Best not take much with me, cos I am bound to want to bring loads back.

Oh Polly they are amazing, beaded and glitzy, mirrors, or leather absolutely every kind and for about 100/120 rupees (well thats what i pay!!) I buy shed loads! then u see them here in the Uk at extortionate prices and not ha;f as nice.i just looove shoes..

One thing to be cautious about when you buy all those bits and bobs is the airport.In March we hit a bad day and Thomsons decided to rip everyone off- it cost us £180 excess baggage and it was legal this time I still have the receipt.

Be warned

yes thats quite true all the airlines are tightening up we had the same flying back to Goa from Kashmir, and got hit twice!! at Srinegar they told us the excess we paid was for the whole journey (got receipt but didnt state this0 and then got charged again in Delhi despite arguing...........still frotunately it aws cheap being internal, but i have also seen people at diabolim pay huge excess........

A couple of years ago I saw a girl at theairport in Goa who had over 70 kilos of luggage, it was too much for one trolley. She handed the guy in charge of the check in desk a wad of notes and got all of the stuff through. I don't think that this would work now though, especially if they are giving receipts out.

apart from the usual suspects like gold jewellery & handmade clothes i always buy a good supply of acyclovir cream ( zovirax the trade name in the uk) as my husb gets cold sores & the stuff here cost a fortune for a teeny tube, much cheaper in goa. i also get pots of garnier anti wrinkle cream as again much cheaper.
