I think it may be something to do with censoring??!! Not sure. Ive noticed that when ppl abbreviate Air conditioning. IE Air Con
Back on topic - ive already made my mind up not to swim while there, im not a very good swimmer anyway and im told the currants are strong but the snake thing has definately made me think twice!
I'd never heard of this type of danger in the sea!!! I know a lot of people drown...there were 2 incidents within 30 minutes right in front of us - both Russians, end of November, with rips. GULP! Has anybody else experienced these 'creatures'??
We have removed the word 'c on' to prevent it being used in a libelous manner. You can however use the word air cond
hiya elliebee I think you are asking me did that flying beastie just drop onto hubbys lap no what happened was he was eating an orange and we think it was after the juice on his fingers ......you should have heard the noise of its wings flapping
We saw a very similar thing at breakfast one morning - it was doodling about at the bottom of a tree!!!
No sea snakes or jelly fish, but some great dolphins leaping out of the water most days around the tanker.
hi spike I know you go to goa every year ....and I want to ask you was the dolphins leaping out of the sea at the tanker a thing you see alot or was that a one off thing .....also can anyone else tell me if they saw dolphins jumping out of the sea while they were sitting on the beach
hi irishcolleen ... yes there are lots of Dolphins and we see them often especially in the early morning, I have sat and watched them from the shack they come in really shallow at times as well, amazing!!
Hi Colleen, we saw the dolphins most mornings when we went for a walk along Candolim beach, it tended to be the earlier you went the more chance you had of seeing them but we also saw them occassionally when we were laying on the sun beds; by the way we were further up the beach away from the tanker, more towards the beach road end of the beach.
The dolphins seamed to be there every time the small fishing boats were pulling up the nets - always around 1.00pm just before the breeze picks up and the sea turns rougher.
jayne spike & chilly I have been one of the lucky ones I have been swimming with dolphins two swam (is there such a word ) under me and lifted me right out of the water .......one under each foot ......their trainer got them to sing happy birthday .....and all jump over the top of me it was amazing ......I have seen them in the sea 2 or 3 times in goa when I was on a boat trip but i have never seen them jump out of the water just at the top of the water and diving I must try to put a picture of it on h/ts
after reading the post on the poor girl whose husband died in goa at the age of 25 yrs after he was bit or stung by a beastie in the sea has really frightened me ....it says it was a cramp fish .....can anyone tell me more about this fish it sure does make you think as we all go in the sea about 6 times a day to cool off....is there a time of year these fish are about or is it all year round please can someone put my mind at rest
colleen where was the post for this????
jayne its in the vicious creatures .....go to the bottom of the page its a blue link there ...the poor girl is speaking in broken english but you will get the gist of what she is saying....
The mosquito's are very vicious at the moment, as soon as it stops raining they are out in force, no matter what repellent we use we still get bitten. It's breeding time for the snakes at the moment so we get lots of them in the garden, anything from 18" to 5ft. We keep getting a 3ft Monitor lizard in the garden, it's after our chicks. Huge bats are commonplace and we had a humongous bull frog which the electrician caught to eat(thankfully it escaped when he got it home) we took photo's of it and it's legs were at least a foot long, very shapely though! There are fire flys all around also, very amusing with their flashing bottoms!
I think that the fish that could have caused the death of the 25 year old might have been a cramp fish ray or electric ray by another name. Brian.
From the description of what happened it sounds like he was swimming in shallow water and ended up with a puncture wound in his stomach, this would probably suggest a Stingray as they have a large spike near their tails which they use as a defence if provoked, very very sad indeed but the chances of this happening are very very slim. We have these in the UK believe it or not, so the same thing could happen here in theory but I doubt it ever has.
IM sure the avon stuff you are all talking about could not keep this flying beastie of your table ................picture of the beastie is on 7th april 2006 post.... .....colleen...
Colleen I bought that good spray from Ebay that everyone was talking about on here. I will bring it with me. I am going to use it in our room, just incase any unwanted beasties appear but you are very welcome to borrow it as well
