Just come back from Goa. Plenty of dogs, cows, elephants, monkeys. A leech attached itself to my foot while i was in a jeep on the way to the waterfalls. Lizards in my room. mosquitoes- only got 6 bites. Mongoose in hotel. Huge cockroaches- saw some dead small snakes. Ravens?, Squirrels, dolphins, dead dog floating in sea.Very sad not to see the giant squirrels - got visions of them being 6ft tall with huge fluffy tails!!!
Fantastic safe place.
The next day I almost died laughing again as my friend went to the toilet in out hotel and let out a massive scream - as he had lifted the lid on the toilet a little frog had jumped out. Plenty run ins with dogs after that but no more mad cows.
Depsite all this, it would never put me off going and it always makes me laugh when I tell people about being chased by that cow! Not sure I'd find out so funny if a snake wrapped itself round me in the sea though as I am petrified of them.
Kindar.
I went last year and just saw lots of dogs, cows and quite a few cockroaches oh and the odd very small lizzard, quite cute actually
We had a text from our son this morning, he was woken by a huge commotion, our neighbour had noticed a 5ft snake in our garden in Arpora!
Was it a poisonous snake?
In the last few years I have seen all of the four poisonous snakes within a 200m radius of my house, cobra, krait, russel viper and saw scaled viper. I regularly find scorpions, large black and little brown. I suppose on average I see around 4 snakes a year in the garden, usually just tree snakes but we have a cobra that I see on a regular basis, it comes for lunch to eat the frogs in the pond.
ooops better keep the girlfriend away from the computer until we go If she see's this she won't get on the plane
I have seen the cobra in a bag trick and a dead sea snake in the water 2 years ago and after the first Cobra sighting I ran a mile and have never been in the sea since the sea snake incident. Pleaaaassseeee shut up shut up shut up!!!. I nearly trod on an adder when I was a kid - I'm allowed to be scared! We have a nice squirmunk that lives in a tree in the hotel were we stay. Think it is a squirrel but its tail/back is stripped like a chipmunk hence the name. Never seen a rat or a cockroach - think we are lucky though!!!
I think they are called a 3 or 5 striped palm squirells
i was walking through the back garden and walked straight into a 6ft wide spiders web. the spider was huge, not hairy, just damn ugly! About 2.5 inches across...
He went down to the beach later on and saw a black and white snake come out of the sea on to the beach then go back into the water! No more cooling off in the sea for me!
in the stairwell to our hotel there was some sort of lizard, about 8-10 inches long as i remember it, that as we approched it produced what i can only describe as a circular orange/red fan around its neck?
im not sure who was scared of who but i know one of us was!
any ideas of what it is called so i can google it?
The Second bottle of Honey Brandy Lizard
Hi it was probably some kind of frilled Monitor. They do this to make themselves look bigger and scarier,so you will leave them alone
Had a vicious creature waiting for me at the gate to the Mango house last night. Someone had left a three week old puppy at our gate with some water and crisps. I guess they thought the foregniers would look after it... Damn I hate it when they're right!
We will be there soon to help out - Brian
