When I spoke to the guy this morning, he told me the Spa Gardens etc are run by another company and would definitely be open.

When I quizzed him about the pools he said "the pool will be open for use" I said "all pools? there is about seven pools at the tropical is there not" he said "no not at the tropical, the pools with the slides etc will be open for use". I left it at that.

You could try phoning back again and see what answer you get this time. Or you could leave it til the first guests go out next week and hope someone posts from out there and lets us know what is happening. I think everyone from HT that was due to go out on the 1st May has cancelled though

Thanks for yr help Catherine, could you let me know who you spoke to though so I can quiz them myself and find out why I was told different as I am not letting this go. I have been messed about enough by this company and was really looking forward to going until we had the letter saying everything was closed! Thanks.x

I am also going on the 20th May, Gatwick, we also booked tropical and was changed in Jan to Palace, and then found out tropical closed, and finally that our flights have been changed to early morning. I have complainted in writing to fc and heard nothing - I have 2 boys, aged 10 and 12 - I just hope there is still a lot to keep them amused - if the kids are happy - mum and dad are happy. We are a family of 2+2 departure date 8th june for 2weeks ( first time on a holiday for more then 7days) now regretting, I booked this holiday may last year, was really impressed by the brochure, never been to turkey let alone AI, the facilities look excellent water sports included, decided to push the boat out and book sea view.

letter arrived 3 weeks about change of airport and change of flight times, we fly back from dalaman at 5.50am after being kicked out 12 noon the day before, baring in mind i have a 6yr and 8yr old.

Had chat to hubby we will grin and bear it for the sake of the kids really looking forward to the "Holiday Village" and all the extras i paid for, which i never do normally book.

today another letter arrives about the fact the sea view is no longer there as they have planted tall trees outside the family rooms, and also that the water sports are no longer there because of the turtles, (ok fair enough not their fault) but after reading several peoples reviews fc have known about all this for a while and why wait till now to inform people.

It also states that the pt is def closed while we there, so does it actually mean we are not getting all advertised and paid for, ie soccor school as the pitch in the pt grounds etc.

after seeing this hotel on tv last year thought they would have ironed out all their probs by now,

I mad for not changing the hols as I could have when the 1st letter came 3 weeks ago (but fc didnt add all in it which i think is rotten of them as if i knew about the water sports would have cancelled as hubby cant keep still for longer than 5 mins)

has anybody changed their holidays or are they keeping it whatever??

We went last year. I remember people being told that the hotel had been built back to front and that's why there were no sea views. I think you would be hard pushed to get a sea view as it is in the distance and the hotels are built on a side angle (sorry hope that makes sense).

The same problems were there last year with the beach eg. the turtles and them being protected. I think perhaps non-motorised water sports are a problem because of the sea being dangerous. We went on a speed boat and done some paraglidiing but as it was motorised it seemed to be ok.

I think it is disgusting the way FC treat their customers when things go wrong.

The soccor school should still be open as it is located between the 2 hotels.

I wouldn't be happy but then we had our own issues last year so maybe I am biased. I just want everyone who goes out this year to have a good time.

im just a bit gutted but my hubby thinks we should plod on, and just hope fc dont throw anymore letters at us before we go.

so motorised water sports are there then??

Nonnielane - If you read back you will find notes from myself. I too had a letter from FC back in March to tell me the PT and ALL facilities plus non motorised watersports would be closed. The soccer school will still be running and also the spa gardens. I am due to travel 22nd May. I was told I could cancel or transfer to a different holiday with no charge. After lengthy discussions with customer services, this I did which cost me an additional £600 even though FC were obliged to offer me another free place! I am going to Lykia World. I have also had lengthy discussions with customer services today as it seems some people have now been told the pools at the Tropical will be open! After spending most of my day on the telephone I have now had it from the horses mouth that what was originally written to me is correct and the pools will be closed. It seems the customer services staff word it in such a way i.e. you wont be losing any pools etc. because one hotel is a mirror image of the other as they are obviously concerned more people may cancel. I have been to the top and also have it in writing faxed to me TODAY. I still dont know what to believe and am reliant on the first people out there to tell me the truth! I hope for all your sakes everything is open for you and you have a wonderful holiday. If its not please let me know and I will sting them for every penny I can get. Hope this helps!

After posting last night, we decided to check out if there were any alternatives at a similar price, after booking a year early to secure free child places we did not expect to find another holiday.

To our surprise the other holiday we looked at before choosing the PT because it has more facilities came out CHEAPER!

I went into FC today and told them we wished to take up their offer of transferring our holiday at no extra charge ( we were offered this becuase of our flight change, not becuase the PT is closed), they now OWE us money, plus we will save £40 on visa fees.

We are now going to Club Caleta Dorada in Furteventura, 24 hr AI, with afternoon flights.

We are now much happier as we do not feel we are gambling on a holiday that could have been great or could have been a nightmare.

I hope for all the people that are still going that we were worrying for no reason and that it turns out to be a fantastic holiday.

We shall be watching the reports with interest!

Come on guys why all the negativity, please start posting positive things cos we go in 10 sleeps, so the kids tell me. With the bad experience we had a fortnight ago having our other hol cancelled im pinning my dreams and alot of hard earned cash on this hol being fantastic.

So can we please summons all our good thoughts and just have good posts.

Dont worry you are gonna have a ball of a time ... just go out there and make the most of it!
My aunt is currently about 40 miles from Sarigerme with her young Turkish manfriend! lol! Her latest report is that its lovely and warm, people are friendly and really helpful and local sights are astounding.

I guess most people are like me and the negativity is coming from the fact that FC are not being entirely honest about whats going on over there and too be honest a tad peeved off at paying lots of money and then not getting what we thought we were paying for.

Just counted my sleeps and its 23 so think ill miss you but you can sit by the pool and have a drink and think of all us poor souls still counting the sleeps!

Have a ball and the rest of you too! Im getting very excitable ..... even kids are getting fed up of me now!

Happy kiddies=happy parents
Beautiful weather in a beautiful country with beautiful people
Cheap excursions
Good markets and cheap fakes
Lovely accommodation
A beach on your doorstep (which has hopefully been improved)
Dodgy entertainment that we can laugh at
Loads of new friends that we're gonna make
Loads of different places to choose where to and what to eat

Just a few as I'm knackered and I can't be bothered thinking of any more. I'm sure if you're cynical you could turn those around and be negative about them. But try and be positive and you could add to it!

Oh I just thought of another. NO WORK FOR A FORTNIGHT wooooooooooooo hoooooooooooooooooooooooooooo :hyper:

hi nonnielane we are also going out on the 8th of june. where u flying from we are flying from Glasgow. we are looking forward to it. im just going to go with an open mind.
the kids cant wait it is there first time abroad they are aged 3 and 4 . get in touch anyone else going the same time.

Hi There, Another tip, when you are given your key (looks like a bank card) this operates both the door and the air conditioning ask for another one, you will have to pay a returnable deposit but it is worth it, it means that if you need 2 door keys you have them and if you dont then you can have your air conditioning on for you going to back to the room. They will not tell you that this service is available so ask.
