Hi there.
I will be staying at the Gran Ventana from 29th July for 2 weeks. Really looking forward to going. I will be on my honeymoon and I have to say have had mixed reviews of the hotel for honeymooners. I see they offer quite a substantial package for honeymoons and it was recommended by First Choice as a honeymoon destination. However, it seems to me like this is a very family orientated resort, which I don't really mind. I was just wondering if anyone who has been there could say what its like for a couple trying to have a romantic couple of weeks.
Thanks
Although we could not get the Junior Suite upgrade (due to having a child with us) we still had fruit and rum on arrival as well as congratulations card from the management.
We were dissapointed with First Choice side of things. The rep did not know we were honeymooners, we never got the upgraded seats on the flight (they forgot to mark it on the booking).
Also you are entitled to a candlelit dinner at Victoria hotels. The rep will not tell you this though.
You need to go to the reception by the quiet pool and book it there. Take along a copy of your marriage certificate as proof (just incase).
Overall our experience of GV was fantastic (see review). It certainly caters for all types. We spent quite a bit of time with another couple who were honeymooning (and staying in the Junior suites) and they certainly enjoyed it.
Found a couple of new reviews here

Hi Robby64
Have just come back today from Gran Ventana, in the restuarants most men were wearing shirt and trousers. Some of the men were in three quater shorts and a t shirt and trainer, and had no problems getting in. If you have any more questions, feel free too ask, will write up a review in the morning.
Mishie
thanks for the detective work and not as stressed now about this long trews versus shorts malarky. But have bought him a pair of linen pants just in case.
Cant wait to read you review and only 23 more sleeps to go cant wait.
thanks
