I have never been to the El Paso before but am comparing my experience to all the reviews I had read on the place prior to being there plus what was actually advertised in the brochure when I booked.
We were given a choice for breakfast 8-9.15 or 9.15-10.30am we opted for the first time slot as we did not want to wait around for our breakfast wasting our morning the downside was that we could not have a lie in if we felt like it either. The evening meal was the set time one ours was for 7.00pm I read on an information board that the evening meals were served until 10.30pm  but was never around then to see if people were actually eating that late. The man from the family provided with pizza and chips was ranting and raving as he left the restaurant explaining that he had just arrived and did not realise that you had to be there on time.
Its seems normal to me for them to be now cutting a few corners here and there as most companies do....but not when you are paying those sort of prices. I have noticed now on brochures for 2007 the wording for fast passes and the courtesy bus is different both are vague and they could indeed now get away with not providing the original full service, shame it was too late for us.
I have just been having a read about the shuttle bus up until May reviews are stating that it ran 3 times a day to the resort or beach, I was there from the 4th of June and it was not running like that then 2 a day and not to resort. When we got to the beach  we were the only family dressed for the beach and the others did not try to get off the bus they must have been waiting for a stop off actually near the resort

Just got back from El Paso on 28th June. 2nd time to Salou 1st time to El Paso. We were given 7.30pm for meal but I asked to go earlier and got 6.45pm did find this quite restricting having to stick to same time but one evening managed to change to 9pm and regretted it. Much busier later and queues we long at entrance as you have to wait to be seated and trays and serving dishes were often empty so we much preferred the earlier slot. We ofter got 1litre of water for our meal between four for 220 Euros which was okay. Soft drinks round the pool , often bought a large drink 280E and split it between them. Large Beer was 295E snacks for luch time werent too pricey. Breakfasts great, coffee very strong, evening meals always had lots of fish dishes.

First time posting so apologies in advance if I'm posting this on the wrong forum.

Am taking our first family holiday on Aug 5th, for a week in Port Aventura Hotel El Paso. I've spent all weekend catching up on all the advice on this forum, but can anyone advise which block is the best to request within the hotel?

I have two daughters aged 5 and 3 and would like to be on a ground floor close to the pool but away form the noise in the evening, and pleasing to the eye - not much eh !!

Can you request which block to stay within ?

Someone recommended block 'Armadillo' and to avoid 'Iguana', anyone else got an opinion ?

Also what's the best beach to visit ?

Any help would be much appreciated

Rgds John

Hi, Just back on Sunday from the El Paso, You dont get to request which block you can stay in, as far as I am aware that is. Your room wont be ready until 15.00 hrs. The food is repetitive and not very warm, so go for the dine around option thats what we did for the whole of the second week. Oh and by the way we stayed in the Armadillo, the maids name was Sana and she was very good and kept the place neat and tidy.

Thanks Nessiehunter

Hope you don't mind but I've a few more questions.

1. Do you know haw much the taxi fare is from Reus Airport to El Paso

2. I'm landing at 9.30am on a Tuesday, if I can't check in until 3pm, is there anything you can suggest to do, can you leave your bags at the hotel

3. I'm guessing the 'Fast Track' is non existent

4. Is there a best time to visit the parks

Any help would be much appreciated

Many thanks John

hi, we are thinking of booking the el paso (port aventura) for the easter hols (april)but are worried that some brochures state that the pools will not be open at this time, does this apply for easter as surely it is high season in school holidays. also what sort of weather can we expect at this time of the year? will the theme park provide enough distractions if the pools are closed? any info would be much appreciated
thanks

Hi :D
The theme park is great, but as to if it will provide enough for you is a personal decision. As a family we like to have at least a pool as well. There is always Barca for a day trip, thats good all year round. We never actually got into Salou proper, but there is lots of info on here on Salou which I would think is open in April.

Really came on to say that if the pool is open in April, you need to check if they heat it. Went for a week at the end of August last year, and the pool was pretty cold, but due to outside temperature it wasn't to much of a problem. I would imagine it would be freezing in April, it's a lovely pool, but large so I guess thats why.

thanks for the info, still not sure whether to risk it, think i will try to get in touch with the hotel to find out if the pools are full at that time or not!

Hi All :D

Has anybody been recently? I've read the last two reviews we have on HT but am really interested to know if any of the rooms have recently been refurbished and if so what block are they in?

We are going in August '07 and last stayed there August '05, when the rooms were looking a bit tired. Found it a bit noisy on ground floor last time, so am wondering about requesting a first floor room, does anyone know if they tend to honour room requests? Would you email early or just a few days before going?

Thanks to anyone who replies.
