- just took a look at Eclipse - really good price with the free child place .
....just a little concerned about the flight times from Manchester, landing so early in the morning (02.15am SUN/MON) and taking off in the we hours (03.15am SUN/MON)...can anyone tell me what the hotel arrangements are ...does your holiday cover occupying the hotel the entire time you need it, or are you expected to pay extra for early check/ late check out ?
...really you only end up with 6 nights at the hotel with these flight arrangements.
I have found better flight times with Mytravel (flight only).....coupled with the cheapest , infact only, accommodation only provider I can find (somewhere 2stay.com) comes out a total of £141 more (without transfers !) ...so I guess it is all down to whether it is worth paying an extra £140 for a less disruptive and in effect, longer, holiday
Any suggestions or comments anyone ????
My understanding is that you have the room for 7 nights - Sunday therefore is night one and therefore Saturday night/Sunday morning is your last night and unless you get late check out or pay for another night then you will have to check out at noon on Sunday.
Some people had that were there when we were had same problem and i can't remember what they were quoted to have late check-out.
...as I suspected I suppose,...we will have to pay for a night that we will not actually be there, as we would not be arriving till the morning in effect the first Sunday...it doesn't look as cheap when you consider its actually a six night holiday and I always think the last day is a waste as you are always just 'waiting to go' and therefore can't relax....that pushes it really to a 5 day holiday for me personally, as the first day we will be 'recovering' from the night before.
On balance I think I might be better paying out a bit more and having a 'longer' holiday.
I'm surprised how travel companies can sell these bad flight time holidays - unless you are going for 2 weeks they really end up being a bit of a 'short break' in reality .
if i can remember correctly we paid 50 euros to keep our room until 6pm and if you wanted it for a whole extra day12noon the following day it was 200 euros.I hope this information helps.
....were you able to continue to enjoy the all inclusive food & drink in those prices ?
Its very bad though; that the holiday Company thinks its reasonable for you to spend (in our case) OVER 12 hours at the airport, from a 12 noon check out, without even being fed or watered, on a so called 'all inclusive' holiday .
You wouldn't be able to do it to an animal - how do they get away with it ?????!
We went from Gatwick and had the full 7 nights with great times - arrived at hotel about 3.30 pm and collected for flight at 12.30 pm so we had great value and all 7 nights properly. However we did have to leave Norwich at 2 am to get to Gatwick!
You can carry on eating and drinking as much as you like until you are picked up to be taken to the airport and there is a cake and coffee counter in the reception which is open late so you can even have a quick snack before you go .
That is useful information too - such alot of the time with late checkouts, you are given the room facilities only.
However, the more I'm thinking , the more I'm leaning towards getting the slightly more expensive flights and then trying to shop around some for the accommodation (most accommodation only websites haven't got their prices for Oct 2007 yet)
Presently this is how it is stacking up ;
Eclipse package :
(including transfers, excluding flight meals, but yuk flights) both ways 2 adults / 2 children, 1 week, inland view. = £1300
Booking independently :
(no transfers and no inflight meals)
Flights = £776 Accommodation inlandview =£645 = £1421
Plus we have to get transfers - but then we would rather travel independently to & from the airport - but we wouldn't have topay extra to keep our room so I guess that balances out.
This is a bit of a first for us because we haven't done a package in years, as having 2 children means you can almost always get better prices by booking independently. the better package price is due to the free child place....all the other package prices I'm getting are around £1500+ so I can see Eclipse are offering a good deal !
Oh decsions decsions !!!!!!!!
Can anyone tell me roughly how much a taxi would be from the airport at Antalya to the Titanic Hotel at Lara Beach ?
...........or if there are any transfer firms operating in this area ?
Thanks again for your help !
Judy
A taxie from the airport would not be much at al, we had a return taxie from the hotel to the market in Antalaya which is past the airport and it cost about 25 euros so one way from the airport wil not be much at al as it only takes 10 mins .I would however agree your price before you get in .
- I've taken the plunge now and booked the flights independently this morning through Direct Line Holidays got a whopping £6 off the total price by shopping around (I knew the prices were pretty good but I just have to get a discount !). So that's £770 for our flights now.
I'll start looking for accommodation prices in September.
Good to know that the taxi fare is not going to add too much to our overall price.
Thanks for all your help - it is really appreciated.
got not a bad deal in the end ,and have for the first time booked adjoining rooms with the kids,instead of sleeping ontop of one another!!
Got birmingham flights but not so good flight times,having said that they all seem pretty bad!!
We are going for a wek on May 11th 2007, so will do a review when i return!
Found this site with lots of pictures (though prices quoted onthis site are far too expensive);
http://lara.gtahotels.com/hotels/titanic_beach_resort_hotel-photo.htm?country=&city=Lara&altcity=&chinmonth=10&chinday=14&chinyear=2007&nights=2&roomtype1=DoubleOneChild&roomtype2=&roomtype3=¤cy=GBP&hotelid=TR13791009&hotelcategory=&hotelarea=&hotelname=&searcherror=date
My partner was particularly excited when he saw the picture featuring two girls wrestling !!!!
Just FYI
Wow! looks great, thanks.
HI were all going to the titanic this september and would love to find out about any trips that might be available while we are there would also like to know if there are any problems with mozzies as we stayed at the pegasos last year and got eaten alive it also says in the brochure it has a hotel run kids club is it any good? what times do they run? thanks
Think you will be the first to go, so eagerly awaiting your review. I a, also interested in the kids club as we have a 3 year old. We are off to the Tropical in September, hope the mozzie situation is better this year!
Emma
they look fantastic,almost better than what we are expecting,if you know what i mean!!!!
We were there in May/June and no mozzies at all (although hubby did get bitten by a beetle!!!)
Kids club - when we were there the staff were russian, dutch and turkish but the russians and the Dutch (Nadia, Leoni and Julia) all spoke English well. My kids are 9,6,5. The 9 year old liked some of the activities better than others as he was the oldest there the first week, but the second he joined in more as there were bigger kids. Club was 10.30 to 12.30 and then 2.30 to 5.30, with mini disco and award giving at 9. Activities each day are posted around the site and include darts, schoolen (roll the balls into the holes), hoopla, pool games, crazy bowls, face painting (I HATE face paining!), mini soccer - and some paid activities such as pony rides off site, t-shirt painting and more.
Unlike other kids clubs you do not sign in and out. At 4.30 they took the kids to the cinema for a movie - sometimes in English and sometimes not. Depends on what nationality is prevalent at 4.30! They do look after the kids well and encourage them. Mine had no problems over language/ability/mixing with others and really enjoyed it. In fact sometimes they didn't want to play in the water as they wanted to do the activities.
As for trips out I'm ashamed to say that we did none as my kids too young to enjoy historic monuments or boat trips, and it was a relaxing holiday rather than a see thinngs one. There were trips to the mountains, aqualand and dolphins, family action park (white water rafting and the like), to historic sights, and also to Antalya. There is also a tour firm in the shops outside the hotel which seemed much cheaper than the Tour Reps ones but we didn't try any.
Hope it helps!
