I couldn't disagree more with you Juliex.

Pools 1 and 2 are crowded yes, but that is the price you pay for having a pool bar.
Pool 3 was much less crowded, and was nice and out of the way of the maddening crowd. Kids loved it in there. I didn't notice any roughness around its edges either.
I thought the food was excellent, the variety and quantity I don't think could have been beaten. True, the food was not piping hot, but well, that is just hotel help-yourself-type-food is it not ?

I thought Sissi Harbour was nice, hardly beautiful or out of this world. To be honest, once you had been in one of the bars or restaurants there, you had been in them all. They were all pretty much the same, serving the same food and drinks, all for very similar prices. The trek to the harbour from the hotel can be a bit frought at night, due to there being no pavements, nor many streetlights.
Yes, the website pictures are misleading. The reason there is no grass around the second pool is that there are new buildings half finished. (I presume they will be finished out of season).
I would go back there in a shot, no doubt about it.

I don't see that you have anything to complain about Vasia Beach at all.

Maybe I was a bit harsh or maybe my standards are high - You couldn't have said the 3rd pool was 5 star or even 4 star standard, it had a nasty scum mark around the edge all week which was never removed and it was rough around the edges, literally, with uneven and broken crazy pathing around the edges. Also, as the pool bar down there was never opened it says that the hotel aren't incouraging guests to stop down there and only 2 pools advertised.
Never been to Greece before so I was impressed with the town compared to the usual Canary towns. We stopped in Correlego, F'ventura last holiday at the 4star Atlantis Suite Hotel and found the hotel, pools and gardens of far higher standard than this new 5star acclaim. But Correlego was dreadful compared to Sissi, so maybe you can't win them all :)
I was just trying to say that yes 5star for hotel, rooms and spa but I felt the pool areas let it down and maybe it was because they had added so may new rooms (hotel had over 700 guests last week) that the public areas aren't big enough to cope with everyone at once :( Also the food wasn't bad but I find all All Inclusive food very much the same in Spain and now Greece with my comparison again my last holiday where we were served Langostine sized king prawns, green lip mussels, variety of seeds, oats, pulses, freshly cooked pastachinese and meat/fish on show every night.
In summary, everyone can't be pleased all of the time and these reviews and forums are for putting our own opinions over with our own experiences for others reading to decide if that would suit them or not :)

Hi Juliex

Totally agree with your comments on Vasia. I went there in July and was really dissapointed, read my review in the hotel review section. The place was packed, food was rubbish and cold, food was more catered for the Dutch and the Germans, drinks were awful, ended up buying my own from the supermarket. Like you said, everybody has their own opinion, and standards. I'm not looking for extravagance, but I do expect to be able to eat every night and have a good drink when I've paid nearly 3 grand for a family holiday! Apparantly, the prices are supposed to be going up next year, well, good luck to them!

Thanks ann marie, glad to see I'm not alone - it isn't cheap for what you get by all means. Also the area infront of the Seafood and Italian restaurants could have been utilised better, I was led to believe you could sit down there as it was a beachside champagne and cigar bar with drinks at a premium for all inclusive customers, but it catered only for restaurant guests (one visit to each per week) .
We are going to try Kefalonia next year and arrange the holiday ourselves, I think we are all all-inclusived out now - food is always the same whatever country you go to (German and Dutch orientated like you said), even after trying 5 star I would have expected better !
I can't believe they will put prices up for next year ! If you can afford it then it's fine to use as a base for your holiday (rooms, hotel, spa excellent) but not for pools, drinks and food !

Interesting reading the reviews so far,we booked last minute through otbeach.com, so were only given choice of twin/double room.I emailed the Vasia requesting room to be in the refurbished part of the complex, got reply very quickly stating we would be given a very nice room.Bit ambiguous I thought , but hey we will wait and see!!Anyone been in last few weeks?are they still working on the unrefurbished rooms??Im sure this place will be great once completed. Will post report upon return..can't wait now only 16 more sleeps!!! :D

Just returned from Vasia Beach. We booked this holiday last Christmas and were lucky enough to be able to book a VIP maisonnette with private pool. We are so glad we did so, at least we were able to have some kind of space around us, but private pool is stretching the truth a little , they were so close together, if you did not get on with your neighbours you were in trouble!! Would have absolutely hated to have been herded together on the sun beds around the main pools, no space whatsoever, and no where to be able to have any kind of privacy. Would never go back because of that reason.

We thought the food was really good, they tried very hard to please everyone, but a week was long enough, think we too have done to death the AI. What we thought was absolutely disgusting was the quality of drinks on offer, beer, coffee etc was fine, but what the rest was, was really open to debate. For a supposed 5 star AI this was totally unacceptable. Having said that, maybe that was what they wanted, we must have been perfect AI guests, we ate our meal (with a beer) and then headed off down into Sissi which is what a lot of folks seemed to do also. Understand that they are going to double prices next year, because of it being a new hotel, all prices this year were half price. Good luck to them because unless they improve the quality of drinks etc they will get some headaches from guests. The little village and harbour area was beautiful, and would return any time again but on a BB or SC basis. We got so sick of the hotel, that we would go to the Maritimo hotel next door to the Vasia and have a couple of drinks around the pool and use their facilities, it was a haven of peace and tranquility, pools beautiful, people lovely and a lovely quaint hotel, which we thought much superior because of this than the Vasia.

Would we go again? No, because of the Butlins atmosphere, quality of drinks, and no space whatsoever around the pools. The rooms are lovely though, high quality but unless you can get a maisonnette think twice, at least with those rooms you do get some space outside. Would rate it 3 star at best because of this.

Hope this helps.

I went at the end of August last year. There were a large group of friends and family that went....about 20 people or so. We all went for my sisters wedding. We all had such a great time and will be going back again this year. Even friends and family who weren't staying at our hotel spent most of their evenings at ours and some of them had spent quite a lot more on their accomodation in flash 5 star resorts.

The food isn't bad, breakfast lunch dinner , bar snacks and icecream. They even did a pack lunch if you were going to the beach. The hotel rooms were nice and clean and airy. The beach at Sissi was lovely. We had a VIP maisonette which was lovely to have a plunge pool especially if you have small kids because they can potter around in their water wings as it is quite shallow whilst you laze on the large outside divan.

The evening entertainment keeps you amused although sometime a bit cheesy it can be taken with a tongue firmly in cheek and could be a good laugh. They did little evening discos for the kids which they loved!!!.

So overall I would reccomend this holiday. Great Value!!!
