Please can someone advise me.....My fiancee is ALgerian we have known each other for about 18 months. We got engaged in January and he applied for a visit visa but this was refused, he applied again in June again refused. APparently they think once in UK he will dissapear. He has been working in Dubai , but we both want him to come to UK so we can start out life, and get married instead of spending 2 weeks here , 2 weeks there, we cant bear it anymore...
We applied for a fiancee visa in August, in Tunis but this was denied, on the basis that he didnt know enough about me??.
We have appealed, but i am not optimistic.
We are planning to get married in Tunis in 8 weeks time, and then go to Dubai.
Does any one know, Can we apply again at some point in the future for the spouse visa, because although Dubai is a lovely country we want to be settled in the UK.
Also can anyone advise us as to what more we can do to convince the embassy we are a genuine couple, we have supplied all documents we can think of and more, but nothing works!!!!
Con act Jocpop, she's been through everthing and come out the other side!!!!!!
I am engeged to my tunisian boyfriend and we are expecting our first baby in early jan. We are planning to get married sometime next year ( it was march but with the baby we will do it later in the year). I was wondering if anyone had advice or tips on how i can get my boyfrind over here for a visit as when i go and see him in two weeks it will be the last time i can fly, so will not be able to see him until after the baby is born (all being well). I would really like him to be here when i have the baby, and also so he can visit the country and get to know the people he hasnt already met etc.
Any help woud be appreciated.
Thank you
misshouda

I will recommend you to Girlfriends of Tunisians by using your email address. the group members have much information that may be useful to you as many have married Tunisians or are currently going through the marriage process and more.
Congratulations on the up and coming marriage and I hope it all works out for you.
Sousse town hall will book you in on the date required providing they have the date available and your documents are all in check.
Wishing you all the best
I am living and working in Oman and my fiance and I want to get married

packages that cater to this sort of thing?

Either you or your fiance must be a Tunisian citizen if you plan to marry in Tunisia.
Sorry I don't know of any wedding arrangements made by hotels, maybe someone else will come along with more information.

What sort of information were you looking for? Sorting out official paperwork, finding a job, planning a wedding in Tunisia etc etc? Let us know what you're hoping to find out and I'm sure there's someone on this site who'll be able to help or point you in the right direction.
In the meantime, congratulations on your engagement.

Hi there ive just come back from tunisia after working there for 4 months and met this fantastic guy.Now ive heard all the stories about the guys over there how they are only after a visa your money etc and i have to say ive met some like that, but this guy is different never asks me for anything always pays i even had to argue to pay halfs on just one bill and asked to even send me some money to the uk which im afraid i had to decline because ive been brought up to be independant and earn my own money. Now im tryin me hardest to go back and work over there for another 6 months with the company i work for but at the end of the day its the companys decision and its not looking good.please can you advice me someone about working over there and if i did decide to marry this bloke in the future in tunisia what would i need to do :
hi sally b could i just ask which company you worked for and where abouts in tunisia u stayed. im going over in 2 weeks and i want to try and find somewhere to live and a job. it is all looking a bit bleak at the moment, i did work there last year so hopefully someone will take me on as i have got experience now working in tunisia. i will not be there until june to stay but i do need to start looking now. been on the phone today to my boyfriend and he is stressing about the price of the apartments when i go over in june.
I work for a travel company, I am going back to Tunisia so I am now delighted. When I worked there I lived in Port el kantoui, I got this job in England and when i got it i just wanted to travel the world. Go on google and enter jobs in Tunisia as there are jobs on there. It is hard to work in Tunisia as you need to have a work visa.
Apartments are very cheap to rent in Tunisia, they are about 400-500TND a month which is about 180-240 pounds a month which is nothing to the prices we pay in england.
Good luck and let me know if you need anymore information
Hi can anbody help me.Can you tell me what papers my boyfriend needs so we can get married in sousse or can anyone tell me about the website set up for english women in tunisia it has something to do with marmite thanks
The website you want is called no marmite in Tunisia. A simple search on ex-pats and Tunisia should find it. If you read the earlier parts of this topic you should find most of the information you want there.
I am new to this forum.
I am desperate for advice so any advice would be much appreciated.
I met Anis In april of this year, i have since been to see him twice and we are now engaged. I am due to return for the duration of august. During this time we will make a trip to Tunis to make an apllication for a 6 month vistor visa.
My father has agreed to be his sponser.
If anyone has been througfh this or who thinks applying for the vistors visa is a bad idea. Please let me know. Also what documentation i need to provide.
Thanking you in advance.
Shauna
You may have a problem Shauna if you say you are engaged as you have only known him since April and the authorities may doubt that it is a genuine relationship which is likely to last. Since your father is prepared to sponsor him it may be best if it is treated as a straightforward visit. He will need a letter of invitation from your father and confirmation that he will be responsible for him whilst in this country, together with proof that sufficient finances are available for this. I'm pretty sure there is quite a lot on this subject elsewhere on here. Hope all goes well for you both.
hi everyone im going back to tunisia again Oct 09 to hopefully get visitor visa for my lovely boyfriend ridha and hoping to get him booked onto thomson flight with me but just read somewhere on this site that tunisian nationals cant fly with thomsons only tunisair HELP has anybody else had problems with flights?
Hi Sharonb, sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I'm afraid you've heard right regarding the Thomson flight. Unfortunately your boyfriend won't be able to travel home with you as he will need to go with Tunisair or another scheduled flight. The only bright side is after he has been staying with you and if he eventually gets indefinite leave to remain if thats what you're looking to get, then he will be able to travel with you on any flight. I don't understand this stupid rule myself, but have had experience with it, albeit 12 years ago. I may be wrong but do still believe it is in place. Hope that helps and good luck in getting your visa. Take care, Kate
thanks kate, i read it applies to flights from tunis to london do you think it applies when flying from monastir to london - nothings straight forward in tunisia is it ? !!!!!!!
You're right Sharon - NOTHING is straight forward in Tunisia. To be quite honest I'm not sure about from Monastir to London, but I'm reasonably certain Thomson won't accept him on the flight and he will have to take a scheduled flight from Tunis. Like I said though, once he's here it shouldn't be a problem and he's free to take most flights. When my hubby came over, he came with Tunisair on a six month visa. We applied for indefinite leave to remain and on our next visit home, we flew with XL. I'm not sure why these rules are in place, but maybe check with the embassy and see if they have been updated, as obviously my experience was many years ago. Good luck, its all such a pain and to be quite honest a great relief for me now its all over!
