hi i am going in 3 weeks have been keeping an eye on the hotel reviews was all good until the recent ones everyone looks to be having a dreadful time .maybe this is due to the main holiday weeks and that it was bank holiday.i hope that it is going to get better.
i am staying in a kids two bedroom suite .are these any good ?
are all the kids suites in the c section?
also has anyone been to the new beaches by the golf course

Hi Michelle sorry you were delayed, your journey sounded horrendous. We got home on time with no problems. Did you get my text?

I would agree with Michelle that the problems we both encountered were being dealt with and things had settled down before we ended our holiday. The last few days were as a holiday should be with the kids having fun in the pool etc. The kids all enjoyed the kids club which gave us a welcome break for a few hours and the entertainment both day and evening was good fun. We joined in most of the activities - if you want any quiz answers just ask the Savlons - eh Michelle?

Problems aside we had a good holiday, largely thanks to our friendship with Michelle and Jay.

We went on a few of the trips which were well organised, the waterpark is small with only about half a dozen slides but enjoyable, especially for the kids. Like others on this site have said there is a height restriction and kids under this have to wear armbands. The lifeguards are quite strict but its for the right reasons. We also went to Oasis park and enjoyed being kissed by a sealion, stroking a crocodile and best of all riding on the camels, this was a good day out and made a change from being in the water. The boat trip to Lanzarote was also a nice change although we only had about 3 hours actually in Puerto del Carman so didn't get to see that much before getting back on the boat.

If you are going to Club Caleta Dorada I'm sure you'll have an enjoyable holiday, the complex is well situated and some of the accomodation has stunning views over the bay/beach.

Kieron and the rest of his team will do their best to keep you entertained both day and night and if you've got kids then get them to try the kids club - particularly the bugs bunny party on Tuesdays - you'll get a whole 4 hours to yourselves.

I will post a full review when I get time to write one.

Michelle - keep in touch.

I'm starting to get a bit worried now, what with these latest reviews and with the various moans and gripes on the main Caleta Dorada discussion thread, I'm not sure whether I should start looking for an alternative for our holiday next Easter. I booked this holiday 9-10 months ago when the Winter 06/07 brochures first came out and I've really been looking forward to it - the kids don't know about it yet but my daughter spotted it in the brochure and asked if we could go there and I felt quite smug that I'd already booked it!
Now we've got just less than 7 months to go, I've already paid in full (to get it out of the way) and I'm hoping the reviews will start to improve very soon or else I'm not sure what I'm going to do :? We've stayed in places before which have had a mixed bag of reviews, but none with such a lot of very bad reviews. I can't figure out if there's either a huge overall management problem there at the moment or else there's just a minority of moaners making a big noise. The reviews were fairly OK when I booked the holiday, but that was before the Dorada/Amarilla amalgamation - I looked at the reviews for both complexes last year and apart from the a few security issues at the Amarilla, it all sounded OK. Can anybody reassure me at all?

I didn't want to scare monger but on the other hand it's strange that so many reviews come through so suddenly. I can only assume that the people got together and decided to all post on their return.

Keep your eye on them as things may improve if the T/O's are getting a lot of negative feed back as well.

That's what I thought... either that or the hotel management are having problems coping with peak season. I've been looking at alternative accomodation, but I really hope I don't have to change my holiday :( sometimes it's difficult to work out what to make of such bad reviews.

hello,
i can only assume that people got together and decided to all post on there return.

the idea of having a review section is to post reviews on returning from their holiday (good or bad). so if a group of people decided to post reviews then fine. i dont think thats alot when you think theres over 200 rooms at the club caleta.
as for checking that they are sent by different people do you honestly think that someone is that sad to post loads of bad reviews in other peoples names just to naff people off, i dont think so.

i have kept my eye on these reviews and forum for the club caleta as we was due to go and have changed our holiday.

one family that gives valid opions and thoughts of the place always seems to be slagged off.

i have said this before everybodies holidays are not the same and they want different things out of their holiday after all it is theirs and their views only. YOU decide if you want to take any notice of them or now.

enough said.

We automatically check isp's. We do this:-

A) To ensure that the reports aren't being posted from the country where the accommodation is situated as this could be biased reviews from hoteliers (and yes that does happen)

b) To ensure that if negative comments are coming in at an unusual rate from the same isp then we check for typing similarities - and yes people who have a grudge against a particular hotel will resort to posting more than one grievance.

We do the above to ensure that our reviews are fair and unbiased to the best of our ability for the benefit of our members and guests. :D

hi all
just thought i would add this.
we stayed at lobos bahia last 2 weeks in august (great place, great time :D ).on the monday of our last week there were at least 10 families who had been transfered from the caleta dorada.they all had the same complaints and were planning their next moves ie solictors and the like. seemed to be problems with pool, cockroaches, ants and the food.they all seemed really cheesed off.

With all the bad reviews lately I not feeling that excited but hey a holiday is all about how you make it and we will make it great!
We have hired a car for a week to explore the island so if it comes to it we can run away for a few days.

To all of you who are about to travel to Club Caleta Dorada don't worry too much. I was there whilst all those who called it the holiday from hell and asked to be moved where there. I never thought about moving and all 4 of us enjoyed our holiday.

By the time we left everything seemed to have settled down and everyone was enjoying their holidays.

I have posted a review, yes I have mentioned a few negative points but we didn't let these overshadow our holiday. I have tried to give an unbiased and factual picture.

Its a lovely, lively, family complex, in a good location with good entertainment.
