I'd heard the slides over at pt were very good so I may have to grin and bear it especially if my kids have got anything to do with it

as Peter Kay would say... "booked it, packed it and f****d off!"

I bought my 3 yr old a wetsuit to keep him warm in the pool. wish I'd bought myself one.

hi all i got back from the palace on the 30 sept enjoyed it very much but just a few points, ive never seen as many people with pots and bandages due to falling over it was like the fashionable to wear them , very slippy not just round the pools either, foood was ok but after 2 weeks it was getting boring, but i have found this in many all inclusives over the years with all the competiition now they seem to be cuuting more corners with the food and drink . the first all inclusive i went on was in 1995 the food was amazing but this hotel also started to cut corners. the room we stayed in was a family room very qiuet except for one night i thought war was breaking out on the upstairs landing about 4 in the morning it seemed like everyone on that floor was fighting. anyway still reccomend it to families with kids but not as good for couples.

Well this is a busy forum - not sure I'm glad I found it after booking a late deal with FC for a week from the 19th Oct with the better half and her 2 kids (13 & 10)

Still we're still going with an open mind bearing in mind that we paid half the brochure price for the holiday - mind you reading the reviews elsewhere, forget how busy the Kitchen and Cleaning Staff are plus the reps, it looks like the busiest person at the resort is the Doctor

To be fair though with up to 5,000 people on site at any one time, the laws of probabilty state that people will become ill with something and with that amount of food and cutlery, it's bound to happen.

Anyway, can anybody help me with a couple of quick questions?

I've booked a late checkout room until 6pm - are we still entitled to the full AI up until this time, or does it end at midday (terms and conditions are a little bit vague) plus can you extend it to 8pm for an extra £10 and how do I arrange that (previous posts mention this)

Do I need the local currency - I have plenty of Sterling and Euro's and it appears that the shops on site take both ? Is it cheaper in Lira or about the same ? Don't want to be stuck at the Airport with loads of Lira although judging by the prices there I may need an overdraft

Can you exchange currency at the Hotel or do you have to go to Sarigerme ?

Presumeably the Hotel sells Cigarettes but are they in machines which only take Lira or do the shops sell them ?

Are the mozzies as bad at this time of year ?

What are the Jacuzzi Suites like - have booked 2 suites, 1 for us, 1 for kids ?

I am now thinking as it's Half Term, the place will be packed - will we get a sun lounger ?

Is the Weather going to pick up - been a bit grotty last couple of days and the forecast doesn't look great !

So not alot if you don't mind

Yours

Looking forward with slight trepidation and requiring reassurance !!

Balders,

Glad to see you are going with an open mind, you'll have a fab holiday.

Your all inclusive stands until you leave!

The only thing I really needed Lira for was the bingo at the hotel, 2.5 lira per ticket or 15 lira for a strip of six, I played most nights. But if Bingo isn't your thing then your euros and Sterling will see you through.

Can you exchange currency at the Hotel or do you have to go to Sarigerme ?
You can exchange at the hotel, the rate is better than you'll get here.

Presumeably the Hotel sells Cigarettes but are they in machines which only take Lira or do the shops sell them ?
The shops sell cigarettes but you'd be better off either to get them at arrivals in the airport, just after the baggage carousel, or in the village. The village is half the price of the hotel for ciggies. Just don't do what I did, I bought them at the airport on the way out and then left them on the plane! Never did get them back.

Are the mozzies as bad at this time of year ?
I was there in May and got bitten to pieces, went again a fortnight ago and didn't get bitten but I did see plenty of people who did. My personal opinion is that they weren't as bad. This time I used Autan tropical spray in an aerosol from Asda and it worked a treat. See the mozzie topic on the general forum for lots more tips.

What are the Jacuzzi Suites like - have booked 2 suites, 1 for us, 1 for kids ?
The jacuzzi suites are lovely. You would have been as well as having one as there is a completely seperate bedroom for privacy. Unless of course at that age the kids are a boy and a girl.

I am now thinking as it's Half Term, the place will be packed - will we get a sun lounger ?
When we were there in May it was the English half term holiday on our second week and yes it was pretty difficult to get a lounger. I'm sure however that it will be quieter in October holidays and you'll get one okay. We did always manage to get loungers but it wasn't quite as easy as our holiday this time.

Is the Weather going to pick up - been a bit grotty last couple of days and the forecast doesn't look great !
I checked a 10 day forecast today and it looked like its to clear up in a few days. If you expect to have a couple of cloudy days, then anything more than that is a bonus.

Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any more questions.

hi balders, i agree with cathrine you will have a great time. we went 17th oct last year and it was busy but it was'nt too hard to get a sun bed unless you want a certain spot everyday in which case you would have to get up early, there are so many pools to choose from you should be able to get some at one of the pools. the jacuzzi suits have some smaller pools next to them that not many people seem to use.
the weather was lovely but at night it does get alot cooler so a light jacket is needed.
the mozzies arnt as bad as july/aug but we did get bitten!

hope this helps, any questions dont hesitate to ask!
oh and the pools are very cold... unless they have heated them this year but i dont think they have!

Cheers all - your advice is much appreciated !!

It's so difficult to get a good deal when travelling with Kids these days and for the money I've paid, I'm not expecting the Ritz - although from what I've read on here plenty of people do !!

By the way, we are staying at the Tropical, so assume same rules apply ?

It's the kids first holiday abroad so anything will feel like the Ritz to them !
