Hello everyone :wave

I did it. I jumped on (and straight off :( ) the scales this morning. Ok, it really wasnt as bad as I was expecting. Since my holiday in September last year (and taking into account christmas) I have only put on 8lb. Believe me, I feel that it is about 6 stone  . So now, I have to take the 8lb away and would also like to lose at least another 8lb on top. Can I do it ?? I sincerely intend to. :)

Good luck :gluck all. Think of the holiday :)

Sarah :)

Hi all,

put on 5 pounds since xmas but it does feel like a stone. The diet starts (again) today. My niece gets married on 23rd March and I need to lose those pounds before I start looking for clothes. I'm hoping to go shopping at the end of Feb so I haven't got much time. Here goes, wish me luck.

Hi everyone :wave

Good to be back after an indulgent festive season. Scared to jump on the scales, so am not going to do it! Getting back to good ways as from today and feeling really motivated again - haven't been to the gym since November  but starting back again this week.

Hi lallygirl and welcome to the thread - I know how it feels!! I lost 4 stone last year, but must have put some of it back on - I know I can get back on track since I've done it before - good luck with your goal. You can make it if you stick at it, and the rewards are great. Not sure why I fell off the diet wagon, but glad to be back on it. This is a great thread for motivating us all, and having some fun - we all lose our way sometimes, but we know we are not alone!

Happy New Year everyone - look forward to reading some great stories here in 2007!

Hi All and Happy New Year,

Well what can I say. We went to Tenerife over Christmas and whilst I had every intention of being as good as possible food wise, the idea went totally out of the window on our first night at an old friends restaurant. I started with mushrooms in cream sauce .I know, I know, I could have picked a healthier option or better still gone straight to the main but Will Power seemed to have got lost at Gatwick Airport and Gaynor Weight took his place. It went from bad to worse, there was the Paella and the hot bread and then the canarian potatoes and mojo sauce (not all on the same night I might add) the list goes on and on. And to top it all there was all the Voddy and Coke (no it wasn't diet) and the Champagne around the pool Christmas Day. Need I say anything else other than I had a bloody good time.

Good luck to all of you who are back on the diet wagon; I can't seem to catch it at the moment.

Kind Regards
Jackie

Well 2days on the diet bus and I feel fine. Been off alcohol since Friday then Hubby brought in a box of 24 cans lager. Drooled at him while he drank it but I didn't touch a drop. Back at work tomorrow so plenty waliking involved, the dogs cut her foot badly so has to keep off it for a while so no power walking. I'm off for a swim now. Catch you all later.

woe is me.. i lost 3lbs the first week and then put it all back on again without having any booze :yikes , no chips, no chocs and nowt of anything else i like foodwise  i just don't understand it :? So, as i resemble a small heffer, i have to find another way of getting rid of Gaynor Weight. She is just not my friend and no matter how hard i try, she keeps larding her way back into my life...hoping to really shift some over the coming weeks as i am due to become ward based again ( yay..no more sitting in my stuffy office) and all that walking around for 10 hours or more a day should see the weight fall off..

good luck to everyone and welcome lally....

Hey, Hey, Hey :!: :!: The 'weight' is over - D Day dawned on Monday!!!

Since my summer holiday I have managed to gain 16lbs

I have just returned from a break in Fife, got another 2 day break in March then it's Palma Nova in May and Beni in July!!! How on earth can I possibly lose weight when I'm going all these trips??? Perhaps the solution is no hols for me

Good luck (once again!!) folk and welcome new "Summer Dieters"!!

By the way, lots of offers in the supermarkets for healthy option meals, yoghurts etc, ideal for taking to work instead of going to the canteen!

Last December I decided I had to lose weight and signed up for a year's membership at my local gym / swimming pool. I wasn't one of those who gave up within a month but went regularly over the year - sometimes even 7 times a week. Signed up again yesterday for another year and did first 2007 weigh in. Weighed exactly the same as last year so all that effort for nothing....... or maybe I would have put on another stone if I hadn't gone to the gym.

Hi everyone, I am going to join you all as well. I have put on about 2 stone and need to shift it as I am quite small in height and I look like and easter egg on legs. Hopefully by the time easter comes I will look like a mini cadburys egg and not a full blown easter egg.

Heres to 2007 and getting the beautiful body we all deserve.

Good Luck

Hiya all,

I think the weight has stabilized at last, though I don't think I've lost any yet. I do have a really bad eye infection though which has not only kept off work but also kept me off food!

Hope I can keep up the good work once my appetite's back.
good luck all

Hi all

Time for me to start my diet

The main thing i struggle going without is bread as I love it so much. Luckily i havent got a sweet tooth but working in the city centre is bad for me as i go in greggs a lot as I love sausage rolls, pastys etc

I am gonna start taking my own packed lunch to work just wondered what you guys eat for lunch as a healthy alternative to bread?

what about those low fat ryvita/cracker type crispbread things?

They might make a good alternative to bread.

Wholemeal pitta bread filled with salad, or why don't you use wholegrain bread/roll - better for you than white and more filling. I don't like to go without bread either, but it can be moreish!

Melba Toast with cottage cheese, ot the John West Tuna in packets.

Hi Guys,

I hope you wont mind if I join your thread but I too am joining the mission to lose some lb's!! I was about 11stone when on holiday last year, and a size 12, and since then have gone up to 11 7lb, so my target to reach by the time I go on holiday this year ( end of August ) is gonna be 10 stone 5lb, which will make me a small 12/big 10 which would be perfect. However, I'm off to Prague for a week (2 weeks today!) so that wont be a good week for the diet! I'm gonna try and drop a few pounds before I go and when I get back I'm going swimming every week and doing weekly aerobics sessions with my oh-so-skinny bezzie mate! So my diet officially starts now but in reality I probably wont lose a pound untill second week of Feb!!! I thought it might be easier to lose the weight and keep it off if I had some moral support from you guys!!
My next weigh in is going to be Friday night so I'll let you know how it goes!!

xxx :D

Hi guys!

I stopped buying shop sarnies a couple of years back. For one it kept me away from the crisps (cheese and onion, just couldn't resist) and for another it has saved me loads of money.

I tend to have pasta 2 or 3 days a week just stirred with pesto and sometimes with added chicken. The other days I might have a wholemeal or granary bap or baguette with chicken or lean beef in it. I bring lots of fruit to work and try to eat a healthy breakfasts (homemade nectarine smoothie this morning but also a toasted muffin so not so good).

Weekends are a problem for me, not in the sweet toothed area either, but portion sizes and the love of savouries. I think you need to get into a habit of using time you have at the weekend to make meals from scratch as they are usually healthier.

Anyway, the other problem area for me is simple laziness. I am not one of those women who gets in from work and is always running around cleaning and stuff and running after children. So I have to incorporate walking and gym time and so often just pure bone idleness is what prohibits me. Again, it's a habit to get into, and also more housework!
