So didnt do too badly this week. Lost 1.5lbs (the half really does make a difference ). Also lost another inch so not too unhappy at all. Would like to have lost more, but hey ho. See what next week brings.
Keep up the good work everyone.

Hey, Hey, Hey it's weigh day Lost 2lb!! Can't chat as I'm at work and shouldn't be on here!! Better dash!!
Can i ask has anyone treid ADIOS herbal tablets what do you think of them have they been any help or a hinderance
What puts me off things like this, and the adverts, is that they clearly use models/actresses who have no weight problem and probably never have. It would make me more inclined to try it if they used a 'real' person with before and after photos.
Personally, I think that they are ok for a quick fix. I lost around 7lbs in the first few weeks of using them. After a while though the weight didnt get any less and eventually crept back up and I got very disheartened. I think that taking anything like that long term cannot be good for you.
For me, its back on the healthy eating and exercise cycle. Thats what works long term.

I am officially the worlds worst dieter!!! I have been doing it for a week and have only lost a pound (and any willpower I once had!).I just find it difficult to stick to it, my worst vices being pasties ( I work next to a HUGE bakery!) and drinking Coke, I can't get enough of the stuff! To make matters worse, I'm on holiday next week and will be even more naughty! That said, I did go swimming last night and have done a few miles on the exercise bike tonight, so we'll see how that goes!!Really gotta cut down on the rubbish food though! Still, have until Sunday when I go on holiday to drop another 2lbs hopefully ( only so I can put it on again while I'm away!)
You will see on this thread that everyone finds it difficult at times to keep going and we all fall off the wagon from time to time, but it's not the end of the world, and we usually manage to climb back on.
Don't think about it when you're on holiday and start afresh when you come back. The exercise will definitley do you good, and remember that muscle weighs as well, and so maybe you have lost some fat and replaced it with muscle (that's what I like to tell myself anyway)! Enjoy your hols and remember there is always hope!
Today i was very disappointed i weighed me on the scales in boots which i've done over the last month and they read i'd lost 1lb over 10days i use my own at home digital ones which are 3 weeks old they said i'd lost 5lb over 10 days who do i believe(my own of course) how often do they check the boots scales to see if they are correct hoping they are wrong i've tried so hard to loose a little now i keep looking at myself the mirror to see if i look any bigger.
Hi sleeps r us. I'd go with your new ones. Seriously though, next time you are in boots, ask how often they are calibrated. They should be done once a day.If they arn't there is a good possibility they ain't working properly.
Just the one pound off week
Lally girl i starved myself almost i was so sure they would come up with the same results(or maybe 1lb difference) never mind so long as i keep to what i'm doing there should be an inprovement in the next 10 days(there better had).
Hope you dont mind me crashing on your forum. Has anyone tried the Special K diet. doing my best to lose weight but am the classic yo yo dieter. Live in Spain so find it hard. weighed myself last week and was 68 kilos far to heavy for someone whos 5ft 3in
Fudgey i'm trying it at the moment, only because it was on special offer at our local supermarket.Did'nt think i would like it BUT its quite nice the fruit(red+blackberries) are sour hopefully it works will let you know.

Can I put a word in here, as someone who spent most of her life battling the weight problem...
Unless you change your eating habits for life, then you'll always be yo yo dieting.
No pill, no Kelloggs or starving will work long term, it is impossible to sustain any restricted diet...been there and got the T-shirt.
Now, I'll go and duck behind the settee.

Up until 3 years ago, I was a size 10-12 and didn't worry at all about my weight. It was then that I became pregnant with my daughter and gave up smoking. With this, my lifestyle completely changed and not for the better. After she was born the weight started piling on and I have risen to a size 16-18. This sometimes really gets me down. I know that my lifestyle is the big issue, and although having a toddler keeps me on my toes, I don't do enough exercise and this is my big failure. My weight does yo yo but it gets better when I exercise which I think is the key to any sustainable weight loss. That and a healthy balanced diet.
Anyone who has read this thread over the past few months will know that I'm not perfect. I do fall off the diet wagon on a frequent basis (Christmas was a disaster and I do love the vino ). But it is such a help to find people with similar problems and who provide a word of encouragement each day/week/month when you truly need it.
Thank you.
Sarah
Srhjnmgn i also come from a small boned family i think its this under active thyroid thats the problem until recently i was a active member of our local gym enjoyed it to but with xmas coming up and special birthdays to fork out for quit the gym i use my sons work bench at home but its not the same, need the sunny weather it makes me feel like getting in to the spirit of things.
We had a thread like this when we had a General Chat forum and like this one, I read it and at times contributed in it.
I read your posts and I sit here and see myself until 10 years ago.
I've tried every diet fad known to man since the early 60's, I've even taken addictive appetite supressant drugs.
I changed my eating habits by throwing all the diet books and the scales out of the window.
I started by cutting out the cr@p inbetween meals, then added a little bit of exercise...I've never been to a gym in my life, but I did enjoy swimming...not been for quite some time since the local baths were shut down though.
I swapped the biscuits for fruit, and instead of eating a whole bar of chocolate at night, I restricted myself to half, then a quarter, then 2 squares, then 1 square, just to make sure I got my "fix"... then none.!.
Same with the cream cakes...instead of 1 a day, I had two a week, then one... when the urge and the misery got the better of me.
But most importantly, I stopped the guilt trip I used to go on when I had, had a cream bun...I just adjusted my calorie intake the next day.
I could go on here and bore you all to death, but older members will remember that I posted my photo when I was 50 years old, then I posted one that I took in my kitchen 5 mins before posting, as the proof that I wasn't just spouting my mouth off.
I was 50 years old, fat, miserable, on HRT and menopausal with no confidence and no sex life, I was ashamed of how looked naked, I didn't want to go out anywhere with my hubby and I realise that I was making myself old before my time....I even dressed and looked "old"..."how did I get like this" ? I used to ask myself.
I'm 60 in March and I've managed to keep the weight off by just eating sensibly and in moderation.....moderation is the key to success
The diet industry is a multi million pound industry that thrives and profits on people who want an instant fix.
The truth is, that there isn't one......it's bl**dy hard work and self control that wins the battle of the bulge, and in time things like " death by chocolate gateau" and synthetic cream cakes will make you feel sick.
I had this great desire a few weeks back to have a Vanilla slice and my hubby went out shopping and bought me one....you know the type with icing on the top and filled with custard cream.
I got half way through it and felt as sick as a dog....10 years ago, I would have scoffed it and asked him why he only bought one.
The first thing I enjoyed, was going out and buying a pair of branded jeans...and I've lived in them since, when they get tight, I adjust the calories, but I eat everyday food including a few oven chips a few times a week.
I don't own a pair of scales and I have no idea what I weigh, when I had to go to the hospital frequently last year and the nurse weighed me, I closed my eyes and asked her not to tell me, and she said "why not"?...because I said "I do not want any figures in my head to get "hung up over ever again"
I'm no stick insect and never will be or want to be, but I'm happy and content with a size 12/14 top and a size 14/16 bottom....I was a 16 top and a 20/22 bottom....that might not sound like a lot, but I'm under 5'.4" tall and every pound in weight showed.
Good Luck peeps.
