LouiseT & aarond hi I'm also going to Goa with Thomson / Portland in November this year.
Just wondered if you know what the luggage allowance is? And also if they are strict on the weight when coming back?
We were OK on weight both ways although we were one and a half kilos over on the way back but they let it go. We always weigh the cases on our bathroom scales before we set off from home. They didn't weight our hand luggage on either journey. The rules regarding only small amounts of liquid applies on the return journey as well as from the UK airport so take this into account when you are packing to come home. We forgot and had a couple of bottles in one hand luggage which they made us check into the hold. It just goes to show that they do actually look at the contents when they are x-raying the bags.
We were on the 3pm flight which left on Christmas Eve, got back on Monday afternoon.
I posted this on the Thomsons flight section of the forums as requested above, and was told 25kg's each inc hand luggage, also states this on the site.
Seems to be pretty fair though if it's a bit of give and take if your only slightly over.
Thanks
as katie has infomed you ,thats all you need to know.
25kls in total,we were dead on our allowance on our
return, the check in girl just said [you are lucky]
so try not to be over as its 9 pounds per kl.
have a great time

Just booked first holiday to Goa in Easter flying with Monarch airlines from Gatwick to Goa. Can anyone let me know whether this is likely to be direct flight (leaves 3.15pm and arrives 6am)? And whether its worth upgrading. Seems like a lot of money £120, but have heard some bad things about leg room and entertainment. Is it really that bad?
The Monarch flight at 3.15pm from Gatwick to Dabolim is direct. The legroom is a bit tight but it's only for a few hours and we have found it ok. £120 will go a long way in Goa. Firstchoice is definitely the best for legroom in economy.
We fly with them on 4th Feb (not thru choice) but we wanted Marinha Dourada and certain dates etc so that was our only option.
I have been checking on teletext for our flight (MON2683). The flight should be due in today (Monday) at 12.45 but its saying on teletext its not expected til 16.38. Also the flight is travelling via Bahrain, which is a pest as well. I know it says in the brochure there is a stop, but we've never actually stopped, so I dont fancy that either.
I also noticed on teletext that a My Travel flight was due in Sunday at 17.40 but isnt expected til today at 17.55 What a nightmare!
Why are most flights from Goa nearly always late arriving back in the UK???

Best we have flown with to Goa was with Excel (one season wonders) direct from Manchester and was very spacious and comfy.
we had to stay any extra 24 hrs last march.the 1st choice flight we were on had a failure in 1 of the engines, and could not fix it.so we had to rely on monarch getting out a part on their next flight, which believe it or not they did(being a rival airline)the captain also stated if they could not fix it by 9am the following day we would have to of stayed a couple more days due to the slots of the airport as it is a naval/army base(sorry cannot remember what one)a bit of chaos between passangers getting uptight but these things happen.
Today we booked the extra legroom seats for our Monarch flight on 4 Feb. Got the last 2 seats available so very pleased
i went with monarch premium 2 years ago and with 1st choice last year.in my opinion i preferd the monarch upgrade than that of 1st choice...this year am going 1st choice upgrade again.i know there is a cost but once you've done it you have to do it again.personnal choice/opinion
Like you we are also travelling with First Choice when we go in April (to same hotel as you Robbie), but I believe the First Choice flights are quite roomy so we probably wont bother with the upgrade.
are you going twice in 2 months???very jealous...when are you going in april?the seats are quite spacious on the 1st choice flights and really i suppose there is no need to upgrade.
Hi Robbie We fly out on 4th Feb to the Marinha Dourada for 2 weeks and then return on 16th April to the Lagoa Azul. Holiday in April was a birthday present from my partner so I guess I am very lucky
what a lovely birthday present..and very lucky indeed.....
(need to get back on topic here or Fiona will tell us off!!!!
you're still getting a telling off Questions on upgrades etc really need to be in the Flights forum leaving this specifically for Goa questions
