Don't know if this applies to Goa yet,but having just returned from Gran Canaria we were allowed 20 kilos each so we took 2 cases (both well under) others had packed 1 case thinking it would be easier. 1 case weighing 36 kilos was not allowed as the limit the baggage handlers will pick up is 32 kilos, can anyone confirm if this applies to Goa ?

Think this applies all over the world mate, certainly enforced at gatwick anyway. To ensure the weight is distributed evenly throught the plane etc etc

It's a health and safety issue for the airport staff. As far as I know, no charter flight and few schedule flights will take a case more than 32kg. We always take two cases with our stuff split between them. Then when one goes missing, it is not a total disaster.

Just booked to go at Easter and flying with First Choice (1st time) hopefully it will be an improvement on Monarch.

But does anyone know if the Gatwick flight is direct both ways, or are there any stops.

Thanks for any help.

I am flying with Jet airways to Goa from Heathrow and was wondering if you can take holdalls as hand luggage. I have looked on their website and they are showing the pull along cases and measurements to suit. We normally take a holdall each and don't want to have to go and buy another case if not needed. Has anyone else flown with them since the new regulations?

Have read a lot about Monarch and most of it was not to complimentary. We flew with Monarch to Goa and were due to depart on Sun 12 Nov at 3pm. To cut a long story short the flight the previous day had turned back to Gatwick after 2hrs so on the Sunday 2 flights were leaving at 3pm. Having been contacted by Monarch earlier in the week and given a heavily discounted offer of Premium upgrade we were looking forward to our flight. At check in we were told that aircraft had been changed so no premium seats...a little dissapointing but Monarch gave us a letter and advised we could claim on our return. Both flights called forward to board, unfortunately our aircraft had a tech problem. Despite twice walking down the connecting corridor to the aircraft doors at 9pm that night we were told the flight was not departing. Yes it was a little annoying but better safe than sorry. To give Monarch their credit, they gave us a £20 meal voucher whilst we were waiting on Sun 12th, put us up overnight in the Sofitell plus breakfast, gave us another £20 voucher the next morning and when we did leave Gatwick we were on the correct aircraft with full premium service. In addition Monarch issued letters out giving details about the delay and when we got home from hols a letter was waiting detailing exactly what had happened which could be sent to our insurance company to claim compensation...which we have now received. All in all a frustrating experience but well managed by Monarch.

The dreaded narrow seats.....we were offered a discount on the premium service which we accepted and found it to be well worth our much reduced price. However the normal seating on the aircraft did not look to bad either. I am sure not all Monarch aircraft seats are the same but this aircraft was no problem. Whilst on holiday however we looked around our hotel and I have to say that whilst we may not be the slimmest in the world and are of average height there were a large number of holidaymakers who were extremely large. Whilst I appreciate some peoples experience of Monarch seating was none to pleasant I would suggest that for some the pain was very much self inflicted!

On the return flight the runway at Dabolim was being repaired and was shorter than usual so our flight could not take on full fuel load. The stop at Bahrain tho inconvenient was agian not Monarchs fault. All in all a good service from Monarch.

On our 2 previous visits, we've opted for a package and flown charter with Monarch. Both trips were in economy and I must admit, not the most pleasant journey. I think it was the fact that all our flights have been so full that it feels claustrophobic very quickly, and we were very grateful for the Bahrain stop to stretch our legs.

We are going to Goa with Qatar Airways from Manchester to Mumbai, via Doha in January, and land in Mumbai at 4.45am. After thought, we're going to fly down and catch the train back up at the end of the holiday, when we are rested and can enjoy the trip.

I've looked at a Kingfisher flight that goes from Mumbai to Goa at 6.50am. Is approx 2 hours enough time to clear customs/baggage etc, get across to the domestic terminal, check in etc in time for this flight? The next one is 12.45pm and we'd rather be in hot Goa than hot Mumbai airport!! Is there anything we need to do re baggage, or just collect and check in as normal (Mumbai to Goa leg not booked as part of Qatar flight).

Thanks Helen

What a shock-we have to pay £20 each (3 of us) airport tax in feb to go to Goa. I can't believe there hasn't been more of an uproar!! It's disgusting!

Just got some bad news! Been to Goingplaces to collect our tickets, and we're flying with Thompson :( When I told the girl in the shop how disappointed I was, she said that some Thompson flights are better than others, and we might get lucky.

Can anyone please tell me if you ge off at Bahrain for this flight going and returning? Monarch themselves told me it stops for refuelling but passengers don't get off! - I thought this strange and perhaps not true?
Any help appreciated. Going 12/1/07

Hi

2 questions .... flying with Monarch(!) on 15th April from Gatwick.

Does anyone know
1) does it go via Bahrain and if so, do we get off
2) what is the luggage allowance? I had assumed it would be the standard 20kg but I have heard talk of only 15kg.

Any help would be apreciated.
Thanks
