Flying from Gatwick on 9 June to Alicante. Flight No. FCA 4608. Any idea which aircraft type and seat configuration.

Thanks.

degsy01,

It'll be a Boeing 757-200. These aircraft are configured 3-3 with 233 seats and ceiling mounted IFE. Seats are faced with a nice green leather. They're powered by two Rolls-Royce RB211-535E4 high bypass turbofans each producing 41,500 lb of thrust, proper rocket ships :)
Have a great time,

Hi Dazbo, No we flew out on the 23rd april to cayo coco and returned on the 3rd May (landing in manchester on the 4th).
Yes it was the first time ive flown on any plane this size, the largest was a 3-3 config (dont ask what type of plane!) it was a mytravel plane. I thought that we were descending one moment then ascending the next then banking left then right, this went on right until touch down, then when we were over the runway it was some time before touch down occured, so much so i thought we were going to run out of runway and have to pull up again!!!!!
Im sure the pilots were doing everything right i just found it really unpleasant and it was much smoother on our landing back in Manchester.
So would that have been due to weather do you think? When we disembarked it wasnt really windy but thats not to say that it wasnt windy up there! There was no turbulance though so that was something!

Hi Katie,

That's a shame, you could have had copies of you taking off and landing if you were on the HOG flight! That sounds like the classic approach to CCC to me. It was like that when I was over there in 2003. You get a lot of thermals over the salt marshes on approach which throwns the aircraft around a bit. I think its partly because of the route in to CCC as well, they don't have a continuous descent or approach like they do at Machester. There could be any number of reasons for the landing, probably weather related. The 3-3 config would have been a 757-200 or Airbus A320-200. I've only flown a small propellor plane and thats hard enough, a 767 must be a handful!

Dazbo,
thats what my other half tried to tell me, did settle me much at the time though!
Anyway it didnt in the least detract from the overall enjoyment of the experience.
We have booked for D.R in December, leaving MAN on the 13th going to punta cana FCA 166, Returning Dec 20th FCA 167. Have the planes been allocated to these flights yet? It would be nice to go on some of the other planes in the fleet, but of course doesnt really matter! I will note the regs for you again!

Daz,I can remember flying schedule with Continental Airlines to Newark in October 1999 on their first flight from Manchester on a new 767 it was fabulous. The let down being was when we arrived at Newark for a connection to Mc Carron Vegas we flew the rest of the 6hr journey on a 737 it wasnt nice at all, felt like being in a cattle shed. Didnt realise at the time we booked that we would be transferred to a smaller plane for the internal flight to Vegas. The business class cabin on both planes looked absolutely brilliant, but the cost for these seats must be tremendous. Cheers Jayjan WHOOPS :offtop SORRY.

Katie,

I've flown on 4 of FCA's 767's and there's not a lot between them. Some have slightly different configurations due to the overwing exits but apart from that, they're all the same. It'll be a 767-300ER regardless, they don't allocate specific aircraft, they are rotated on a regular basis.

KATIE -

descending & touch down always depends on the weather, the wind direction and the "coming in corridor".

Remember Cuba is located in the Caribbean Sea and there You have hi humidity and strong winds almost all over the year.......
So You can't compare a touch down there with one in the U.K....

Another tricky thing is the wind direction and the landing corridor the plane is forced to on its short final.

I've experienced many landings here in Germany at TXL - when we had wind from west direction the plane flew all across the city of Berlin from east to west, turning many times from left to right and then from right to left again. Some passengers always thought the pilots were drunken... :P

Each time the same, but when we had wind from the east direction it was always a pleasure to experience short final....., easy descending, only one turn and a smooth touch down.

But if You really think You had a bad experience check this here  :

Hi, can anyone give me any information on what to expect on a first choice flight to sharm please? Things like will we get a movie and how many times the drinks trolley comes round. That sort of thing, thanks.

steve1978,

Have you got some flight details; where are you flying from? Have you got a flight number? I assume it'll be opperated with a Boeing 757-200. These have 28" seat pitch and configured 3-3. IFE is provided via ceiling mounted screens where a film will be shown as well as a selection of BBC classics. Drinks are regular but you can ask for one at any time if required or just double up when they come round the first time, thats what I do!

steve1978,

No problem. Your fight numbers should be FCA206/7 (thursday departure) and It'll be a Boeing 757-200.

Hi, I am off to Salou (Reus) 25th May, I think i am on an A321, I was also wondering what is the usual time for this flight, they allocate 2 hours but im sure it didn't take this long last time. I know it depends upon wind direction aswell but whats average?

sambache3592,

Where are you flying from? LGW - REU is about 2 hrs. The winds may have been favourable last time or ATC may have given a more direct routing. You may have flown on a Boeing 757-200 which are a little faster than an A321.
