thankyou for that! I will email now and request a room in H block and for an air conditioned room, have you been in both an air conditioned room and a ceiling fan room? i wanted to know if just the ceiling fan would be enough or if we really would need air con, we go in the middle of march so i do understand it'll be roasting!!!!

Hi trixxi, last time we went was novenber 06 we up graded room and only had a fan which turned out ok, you can up grade with out air conditioning and if you decide you need it ask them to turn it on you will have to pay for it, have a good time shazza ;)

Shazzerallen may i ask, i've emailed the hotel and they've said they have no rooms in H Block with air conditioning, only room in J or I and that an air conditioned room will be 400.00rupees per day, does this sound about right?

Trixxi, we stayed in H block Xmas & New year room 143 fan was not enough, couldn't get it to go fast enough and the power went off most nights about 7 -730pm varying from 10 Min's to 1 hour very hot room, :hot you will deffo need a/c , not much good though if the power is off, agree about the noise you are better off at the back of the hotel.
A/C; rs 400 per day works out £71 -76 for 14 nights
safety locker; rs 200 per day £36-35
television; rs 100 per day £18-17

total = £ 126-28p on today's rates

Stayed here quite alot.

do not get a room on the top floor as it will be too hot even with A/C.

Personally I prefer the rooms around the pool.

Edit: Ask for Jeffrey to deal with your room allocation, if it can be done, he'll get it sorted.

P.S. another tip, get a taxi from the airport so you are there before the bus. You have more chance of changing room if others haven't yet booked in.

Going to Prazeres in Candolim on 16th Feb, can anyone tell me if there are tea/coffee making faccilities in the rooms and is there a hairdryer, trying to cut down on luggage. Been to Goa lots of times over the years, is this hotel ok? Is a ceiling fan enough or are air-con rooms a must? Any other tips appreciated.

hi Moles and welcome to HT. As you can see I've merged your query to the thread we have on Prazares where you should find some useful info.

no tea and coffee making facilities and no hairdryer when I was there in November

Just back from 2 weeks at The Prazeres. For a 2* hotel it can't be faulted. Pretty basic as you would expect, rock hard beds, but rooms cleaned, linen changed daily. We stayed in J block because this is where there are air-conditioned rooms. Needed it too during the second week, however there was a power cut most evenings just as you were preparing to go out so didn't get the most out of it. This issue was actually our only complaint. We had to pay 400 per day in advance (5,600), yet it broke down completely on the third day, so we asked for 400 reimbursement. Waste of time, they are not really interested in refunding money. We let it drop because they said the room boy would have to pay it from his wages for not reporting it himself. They eventually sent someone to fix it after our third call to reception that day. Two men arrived at 11.50pm! We also felt that charging for TV and safety deposit was a bit steep too.
We also agree with a previous comment re the smarmy owner and his cronies. Their noise did not affect us, but a few guests moved out because of it. They badly beat up one of the poor waiters apparantly, who are all terrified of him. He is a creep and a bully. This was witnessed by guests staying near the bar area who were kept awake until 3-4am.
Again though, we speak as we find and it was ok there for two weeks, and the location wasn't bad. Staff were all really nice.

He is still at it then, the owner - my hard worked for holiday in early November was spoilt by him and his cronies blaring out trance music all day and night directly under my apartment. He was only stopped when 2 travel reps witnessed it and the Cosmos rep got on to the UK and they threatened to cancel all future bookings with him.
The staff are terrified of him. Its a damn shame it is a really nice hotel and the staff do the best they can. The owner doesnt give a damn about his customers. I really hope the tour companies take him off their books next year.
He has another hotel in Calangute, I wonder if they get the same treatment there
