Just to say Qatar Airways show seat plans on thier web site,as to which configeration will be in use it can and does change weekly.

We're flying into Manchester from Doha on QR45 arriving at 12.30 on 16th Dec. Could anyone advise me of the punctuality record of this particular flight. We'd like to book seats on a train departing from the Airport station at 14.00. I know its only a few minutes walk to the station, and we've got the new E passports which you scan automaticly, so dont anticipate any long hold ups at Immigration. I feel 90 min. should be enough but would value any opinion on this. Later trains mean changes so I'd really like to go on our chosen one at 14.00, the snag being, as with all cheap rail tickets, if you miss it thats it, no refund, and the fare on the day up to Edinburgh would be costly Any advice appreciated.

Alan, IMO you are cutting it too fine. If your bags are last off the plane you might not make it. The flight may be on schedule but last time we were on that flight the docking station was having problems and we were sat in the plane for at least 20 minutes.
Having said that, you will curse if you are sat around for an extra hour or two waiting for a later flight. I know that if we miss our train connection it's £173 each for a single fare on the day instead of the £15 we have paid. ( That makes it £188 each !)

Thanks for the input Darren & Dave, the next direct train up to Edinburgh is at 16.00 so I think we'll play safe and go for it. We can get two tickets right up to Stirling with only the one change in Edinburg for £31. for the two of us, if we missed the 14.00 train, the fares on the day would be over £300, so better safe than sorry.

Alan, you could book two different trains at an extra £30 if it's worth the time saved.
I had thought of booking the 14.00 and the 16.00 as backup, but when I ran the suggestion to the better half, she, in good Scottish fashion, quashed the deal. We flew in from Thailand on Thursday and had a couple of hours to kill before our train, but a couple of bacon rolls and coffee from Greggs and a morning paper and the two hours soon passed. The main enjoyment was Greggs prices, not what one expects in Airports, well done Greggs ! we're recent converts to this rail travel, cant believe how good they are now, and how cheap when booked 12 weeks in advance.

QR045 get a rating at present of 3.8 out of 5 on Flightstats which is good.However as Darren points out delays can be caused by unforeseen reasons.I would by my return to Manchester in September think that 90mins is ok,we were in 15mins early.

We are flying from Manchester to Singapore via Doha in November, and as a treat I have booked business class. Does anyone know if there is lounge access at Manchester, and if so which lounge Qatar give access to as they don't seem to have their own one?

There are several business lounges at Manchester (T2). I'm not sure which one Qatar use though.

The Serviair Lounge up the stairs just past the Duty Free,its a shoe box?? Wait untill you arrive in Qatar and get to use the Premium Lounge in Doha Int. it will blow your socks off more like a hotel than a lounge.
Can someone answer a couple of questions,

Trying to figure out the seating is confusing as they seem to have the same plane with different seat arrangements so it's pot luck which one you get I guess. When you book your ticket you can choose your seat as per the plan they offer. I don't think you can pre book the extra legroom seats as they keep them for special cases. What might appear to be the leg room seats may be the row behind.

They are all 2-4-2 which ever the seat configuration. Some appear to have more rows than others.Avoid the seats at the rear as they que for the loos at the back.
All departures from the UK (Man,Lhr,Gat) are direct to Doha.I think that we sometimes forget that not that many people on a particular flight end up in the same destination,Doha is merely their hub, consequently the likely hood of prices coming down at the last minute isn't as high as flights to one specific end place.

The Gatwick looks the better option as it departs 3 hours later than the LHR and it will be the same onward flight to Goa so its 3 hours less in Doha,

They had flights for £512 to Goa when I looked the other day !
Just had an e mail promotional letter entitled " Go to your happy place with Qatar Airways"... is there no limit to where they can fly you now !!
HY I have just booked Man - Goa 23/1/10 returning 15/2/10 with Southall travel I requested bulk head seats and they said they can only request, so when do you find out if you have them? or can you go to Qatar offices and reserve the seats with them ? we are 4 adults and wanted to sit togther if poss. Also what type of aircraft are we on?
