Ive been to Protaras 8 times, i havent eaten in the red indian. Were giving it a miss this year and are going to Skiathos at the end of August. We hired a car last year and had a few days at Macaronnis beach near Napa, i loved it there better than Fig Tree or Nissi.

Hi CMT, how are you enjoying rising star. Is there no kids pool disco each morning ? there has been the previous twice i have been.Maybe the entertainment reps are just getting started.I believe it was 2 guys last year who seemed to get great reviews.

bit of a worry if there is no daytime activities, i have booked here on the strength of all the great reviews on the matter :(

Hi reading the last few comments we also are wondering :que about the entertainment team as we read last years reports and the lads were reported to be excellent and we were hoping for a great team this year :cry as we are going to the Rising Star in aug can't wait. :sun2

well i have just read a review on holiday watchdog re rising star and they go into a bit of detail about entertainers, it seems there are 2 girls now and mini pool disco is on from 10.50 to 11.00 but not every day, but that might be because not a lot of kids at moment. I am hoping this is thecase as we go in 4 weeks for the 3rd time and the pool disco was my daughters highlight of the holiday.I just hope it picks up as season progresses. :offtop The review also went into detail about prices for various restaurants, 40 - 45 euros being the norm for a meal with a drink each for a family of 4 but this did not include starters or desserts and cocktails being roughly 3 - 4 euros each! hope this helps.

thanks for telling me hopefully that is the case that there is not a lot of children at the moment and last years entertainers got really good reviews and it would be a shame if they were not there

Just got back this morning.
There are two entertainers, Michelle and Andy, ( don't know what happened to the other girl who wa there at the start)
10 am, boogie in the pool,
11am, killer pool/darts/air hockey
12 am, quiz
Selling raffle tickets for Luccky 13.
3pm, water polo
4pm french boules.
They are two lovelly reps. The day time activities picked up at the start of half term. Plenty kids at the hotel.

Evening, kiddies disco, bingo and the occasional entertainment but cant comment as Tom is past the mini disco stage.

Brad/Angela,
The hotel is lovelly.
We ate out at the Flintstones once ( we were half board)and it came to just under 60 euros for three of us ( two courses each) which included a bottle of wine and two cokes.
Drinks around the resort varied.
Keo/Leon/Carlsberg between 2 and 3.75E
Cocktails about 3E
Bacardi and coke, 3.75 to 5.50E
Diet coke, 1.25 to 2.25E
I noticed a lot of restaurants had two course specials advertised which varied from 10E to 15E per person.
Hope this helps.

Just back 3 days ago from Rising Star, when we arrived entertainers were called *** & *** who were next to useless (bits of kids with no get up and go), they were dull, lazy and not very bright! and couldn't be bothered to try and involve people in activities. They would announce the activity on the microphone but without much enthusiasm, then when nobody wanted to take part they just took the attitude 'well we can't make people join in'! Basically it was a cop out and meant that they didn't have to bother doing anthing.

Thankfully 3 days before we came back the entertainers were changed following complaints from the guests. Two new, more experienced, entertainers were brought in to uplift the entertainment. They were called Andy & Sarah and they were fantastic. They would really get involved with the activities and try and get people involved. They would even dress up just to walk around the pool handing out quiz papers.

To sum up, now that there are some decent entertainers in the hotel it is great, Andy & Sarah are supposed to be there for the whole summer so for those of you going this summer you'll have a great time.

Regarding prices, we are 3 adults and 1 child and ate out every night, meals averaged €45 to €75 for the four of us depending if we had starters and whether we had one or two drinks each. On average most main course meals were about €10 each. Drinks average €3 a pint of lager.

Best places to eat are definately Anatolia & flintstones (up to road, past McDonalds and turn right at main road) both excellent food at reasonable price. Astoria also good but a little more expensive, the man at the front is a little pushy but he's only trying to earn a living and they are very attentive when you're in there.

Best night out in Protaras is definately the Sphinx bar cabaret, with fantastic drag queens, acrobats, dancers and singer. Not the cheapest night out but that good and funny that we did it twice in a week, not to be missed.

Enjoy
