Have never used online check in before. If you have hand luggage only, do you go straight to passport control with your printed boarding pass?

Also, have ryanair changed the number of days before you can check in online. I'm sure it was 5, it is now saying 2 days before :que. Am now worried I will not be able to check in online while I am away (thought I would be able to do it all before at home).

I think i chose online check in when I booked. If i can't check in online for the return journey, is it ok to check in as usual at the desk?

Sorry for all the questions, getting myself all confused

lesley if you use the on-line check in for departure from what my daughter has told me you have to use it for your return and yes you just walk straight to passport control . when she and her boyfriend used it in january they spent the weekend stressing about finding an internet cafe . they couldnt find one so eventually asked the hotel who helped them out which of course they should of done in the first place.

starry,
you just go straight to the security gate at the airport, and show them your printed ticket. make sure that you have a bar code on it as they scan that to let you through.
you can now check in 5 days before, as i've just done that myself.
if you do not have your on line check in ticket at the other end ryanair will make you pay to use the normal check in, and it is expensive, so if you can check in bfore you leave uk then do that, or ask hotel or use internet cafe in the resort. the hotel or your rep should be able to help.

Thanks Lyn and Jim :) If it is 5 days (which it must be if you have just done it Jim) I will be ok and can do it all from home. I just started to panic because it now seems to read 2 days and 4 hrs on their website :think

Well, it looks like you can check in online 2 days before now and not 5 :(
Can't keep up with all their changes and charges to be honest.

i checked in on line on saturday for flights tomorrow -wednesday.
they are a bit shoddy with updating their website, but if you try and book in 5 days before i'm sure you will be successful.

does anyone know what happens with priority boarding when you're also checking in luggage? i've paid for the priority but i'm confused as to how i'll actually manage to make it on the plane in the first group. does it flag up at checkin overseas? not concerned about uk side of things, i've seen people with big stickers on their boarding cards for priority, does it work the same overseas or should i take my invoice with me showing the payment for the priority boarding?

cheers

First of all it should appear on the confirmation form with the number that you should take to the airport to show with your passport. If not, please remind the desk clerk very gently and politely!

If you are checking in baggage and have booked speedy/priority booking, you will be given a special piece of paper at the check in desk, which you will need to show to the gate agent when the flight is called, and then join the rest of the scrum who have paid for this service.

can anyone help re the ID my son can use, my son is flying Prestwick to Dublin , normally taking his passport wouldn't be an issue but we fly out to Florida 5 days later and I am worried sick he looses his passport over there. It says on the website you can use your drivers license as ID. question is he has a provisional license would this be ok also , it has his photo on it etc.

tried phoning them but I cant get through on the number on their website it keeps cutting me off

Hi ADDC ... there is often a lot of very mixed opinion about this on the web. When using a driving licence as photo ID, some airlines specify that it should be a full driving licence and not a provisional.

However, Ryanair specify only that it should be a valid driving licence, they don't stipulate either full or provisional. My interpretation of that would be that a provisional driving licence is acceptable (except if using online check-in), providing that it is still valid and contains a photo. I have read comments from people who say that their unexpired provisional licence has been accepted by Ryanair without problem. I have also read comments from people who claim to know someone who knows someone else whose provisional licence was rejected. But I haven't yet read of anyone who personally claims to have had their own valid provisional licence rejected by Ryanair. If you are having difficulty getting through to Ryanair, it may be worth trying Prestwick Airport for verification, as it is mostly Ryanair who fly from there. The number is 01292 511000.

Ryanair extends charges for priority boarding

Ryanair is extending its £4 charge for priority boarding to passengers who check in online for bookings from June 3.

Until now, only passengers who check in at the airport have been charged for priority boarding, while those who checked in via the airline's website got the service free of charge.

Ryanair said the free offer was only a temporary measure to encourage people to make use of online check-in.

It said it also meant that the airline frequently sold out of its allocation of 80 priority boarding seats.

Ryanair's Lorna Farren said: "These new charges will make the sale of priority boarding fairer for all passengers.

"Because of the success of our web check-in facility (which allows passengers to avoid airport queues) many flights are now selling out all of our allocation of 80 (40%) of priority boarding seats.

"By charging the same fee for priority boarding for both web check-in and airport check-in passengers, we hope to ensure that priority boarding seats will always be available for sale at airports for family members and groups who wish to purchase it."

From the same date, Ryanair will also introduce an online name change facility which will allow passengers to make name changes up to 24 hours before travel.

This service was previously only available through the Ryanair call centre.
