Hi,
As an Irish person,I'd be very wary of going to santa ponsa in late august.The exam results come out in mid august and I was warned by a travel agent not to go there on a family holiday as there will be lots of celebrating post exam students there at that time and you may find some noise disturbance.It seems to be the current trend to celebrate your grades by going a bit wild in S.P.
Definitely check out the holiday reviews for august before making up your mind.Personally, I'll be in Alcudia in late august!

You will love this hotel - spotless, excellent views, 5 mins from the Square and food the best in any hotel I have ever stayed in.
Jardin del mar is self catering however does offer half board on arrival. Have stayed here and the food is nothing compared to Punta del Mar. As for location there is only about 300 m between them.
