Hi all
I am going to majorca for the first time at the end of February. can any of you tell me if you have either:
1) stayed at the Jardin de Playa hotel?
2) stayed in Santa Ponsa?
3) is it expensive to eat in majorca?
would be grateful if you could help! thanks.
theres even 2 real fish & chip shops.
it`s no dearer than anywhere else & you can easily get a taxi to other areas, dont rely to much on the bus though, i dont think they quite understand the term "time table"
its in a beautiful location & i would certainly recomend it, we are hoping to go back soon !!!!!!!!
i agree the best holiday we had was santa ponsa its very beautiful loads of places to eat the beach is lovely we went to alcudia last year it wasnt as nice.
We went to Santa Ponsa over Xmas and found it to be very quiet with most places shut (including the fish and chip shops). The only place on the island that had any signs of life was Palma Nova so perhaps that would be a better choice in February.
We have booked up today & are going back in April.
flights with easy jet £40 each (4 of us going)
appartment through alpha rooms £135 for the week
it surprised me just how cheap the total cost was.
if you go from the airport to Santa Ponsa by taxi could you please post the taxi fare price on this site as i would like to know the cost.
thankyou
The towns layout is a bit of a pain I thought, depending on where you are I suppose, but it seemed to be one long road in one direction or the other
ie. it didn't have a 'town' feel to it.
If I remember rightly your hotel is at the very top end of the town quite near to the 'square' which is a great place to go at night; it has loads of tables & chairs in a huge outdoor circle with Irish bars etc all around the outside, and every night they have a different tribute band entertaining you. they post all the details of the coming weeks attractions so you can see which night you would like to go.
I'm not sure if any of this goes on in Feb though, it may be a bit out of season.
If the kebab man is open on the front - he was more or less opposite the tourist info building - you must try one with his 'danger! - very much hot'
chilli sauce on . He was a very funny bloke.
I hope this makes some sense to you.
If you need to know more just ask.
Marie
I liked Santa Ponsa and it is no more expensive than any other resorts for eating and drinking and i'm sure if you take a walk around you will find places that suit you better than others. Visit STEPPS its a karaoke bar and the owners are English and do tributes to Elton John, 70's, Cliff Richard, 80's, etc. Had anyone else ever been there?? I do agree with Marie35p though it does seem like its one long road but if your at the to p of the hill you should be ok. We stayed at the bottom and it was quite a trek up the hill every night to find entertainment! Look out for all the cockatiels in the trees by the beach they are noisy but they are site not to be missed!
Hoping to go back again this year, didn't find the square though, can any one tell me if its up by the Irish section or at the other end of the resort.
Yes if i remember rightly the square is up by the irish section.Santa ponsa is great something for everyone and best of all for us anyway free accomodation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hi, i have been to santa ponsa four times, its very nice, plenty to do if you go from about june to september, if you are going out of this time it will be very quite, the square is a 10 min to 15 min walk from the irish end of the resort ,and i feel is more for people with young families, a taxi from the airport will cost about 30 euros, lots of places to eat ,try <el cibo> best steak in santa ponsa and< maison del mar> book this during daytime ,and you get a good seat overlooking the sea hope you have a good time,, rob
We liked Santa Ponsa so much last year that we have just booked to go back. To get to the square you go to the water feature roundabout thing and take the road to the left (Irish area to right) and just keep walking up and up. You can't miss it when you get to the top. Also we liked some of the shops up near the square. We went twice last year and we don't have kids but still thought it was quite good.

A taxi from th airport will cost you 35 euros, We hired a car for the week wich cost 135 euros, which was very handed as we where out everday all over Marjorca, enjoy you break!!
We are going to the Jardin de Playa in Santa Ponsa during the Easter holidays after a recommendation from two families of friends who were there last October and suggested that this would be an ideal hotel and location for an out of season holiday. They have shown us their photographs which are more depictive of the hotel and resort than any I have found on the web. As with forums such as this, you can get a more rounded and real idea of what you can expect when you get to Majorca than you ever could from a brochure, travel agent or web advert.
Hi,we're staying at the Playas Del Rey in Santa Ponsa in August. It's got some good reviews.Has anybody stayed there? We've booked with Thompson small and friendly again.I hope this hotel is better than the D'or Hotel in Cala D'or where we stayed last year.
Were staying in Santa Ponsa for the 1st time in late June SC @ Jardin Del Mar Appts, I understand the buses to the other resorts can get pretty packed, can anyone tell me how far Magalluf, Portals Nous etc, are from Santa Ponsa? I dont mind getting taxis as they are usually reasonable in Majorca. Thanks in advance
taxi is around €32 airport to santa ponsa.
Iagree with Dave the Taxi would probably be around 30 euro from the airport. I think Santa Ponza willbe very quiet in February but Palma Nova is close and a taxi around should cost very little. The bus service is also good value so head on in to Palma town and see the sights. Enjoy.
Once again I am looking for things to do on Holiday as I can't sit in the sun all the time. Things for both day and night within a reasonable distance of Sant Ponsa. We are sort of midle aged ish.( on the outside)
Thanks
Anne
At night time the square in Santa Ponsa has entertainment until about 10 or 11 pm- it's quite a walk from the beach area.
