Hi everyone,
We're going to Santa Ponsa this August. Most of the reviews i've read about this resort mention there being a lot of Irish/Scottish bars. Are these
Mainly situated towards the Square or are they spread about. We are Staying at the Playas Del Rey and i believe the Square is a 20 minute Walk away.
Is there plenty of variety regarding restaurants, bars ,entertainment etc.
Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Fenderman

Hi my boyfriend and I have been to Santa Ponsa 2 years running now and love it. (Neither of us are Irish/Scottish) It is very popular with the Irish and not so much the Scottish. Most of the Irish/Scottish places are away from the square. The square is a good family entertainment place and gets busy quickly. Im not sure where your hotel is but the one we stay at is the Hesperia playas de mallorca which is across the road from the beach and that is about a 15 minute walk to the square. The walk is up a hill but its not too bad. We normally pop in the shops along the way. The walk back is better because you can walk down some steps and walk along the beach and rocks.

There are plenty of bars and restaurants in Santa Ponsa and although we stay half board we have never found it a problem finding a non Irish/Scottish place to have a drink. Santa Ponsa is almost shapped like a horse-shoe and you will find that the left side (looking from beach) is quieter and has more German, Spanish & English bars etc and to the right (where the square is) is popular with the Irish, Scottish and English. It is also a lot busier especially witht the young crowd as this is where the couple of niteclubs are.

There is a stretch of street (C. De Ram de montcoda) which is lined with Irish bars but unless your hotel is along there you dont need to walk there as it is going away from the beach and the main resort.

Have a look at http://islas.org.uk/

Thanks Biff and KT.We're staying at the end of the resort not far from the Marina.looking at the map we're at the end of the beach on the Avda Rey Jaime so it looks like a 20 minute stroll to the Square.Only fifty metres from the beach though. We're looking forward to it.Cheers Fenderman

Hey

I'm off to Santa Ponsa in September for the first time, normally we go to Palma Nova, but fancied a bit of a change. Can anyone suggest any good places to eat, drink, dance and generally have a good holiday....

We're off to Santa Ponsa on the 31st May so will post a review on my return.

All the reviews we've read about the resort seem positive.

We have got lots of info from http://www.santaponsascene.com/

Where are you staying? We are at the Jardin del Mar Aparthotel.

Have hired a car so we can do some exploring, but most of all looking forward to some sun 8)

My favourite place was the El Ceibo restaurant in Santa Ponsa. They have amazing steaks flown in from Argentina. Its on the left on your way up to the Plaza, opposite Xaloc Apts.

we are off to S.P. on wed to the jardin del mar I will post on our return.
I would think it will be quieter than in sept. but we should have some ideas.
we normally go to palmanova/magalluf so this will be our first time here,I have also booked golf beach S.P. for sept.

Lynne- Look forward to reading your report. Jardin del Mar certainly looks nice and the reviews all seem good.

Have you had a look at the virtual tour of the hotel?

Hey thanks for your replies

I will have a look at that site and try the restaurant. I'm going to be staying at the Mimossa Apartments, my mum has just bought an appartment there, unfortunately when she was there the sesson hadn't started yet (apparently doesn't start until April) so there wasn't a lot to do.

Roll on 1st September!!!!

Santa Ponsa is a great resort with many good places to eat. All reasonably priced as well.

There are boat trips from the small jetty near the Verdemar.

You are 10 minutes from Palma Nova/magaluf which costs around 9euro in a taxi.

There is also a good bus service to get you there and nearby Palma which is good for shops and sightseeing. Paquera is in the other direction.

Also Andratx is nearby for the market on a Wednesday.

I don't think you will be short of things to do.
