We were in Santa Ponsa for a holiday in Sep '04 and had the best holiday there ever :D , mainly due to the fantastic evening entertainment  . Does anyone know whether 'GASOLINE' are still playing at the Dubliner or anywhere else in the area. They were amazing. We have booked to go back in May '07.

I look forward to your replies.

Hi Andy

Have a look at http://www.santaponsascene.com/ you can download a copy of a guide of whats going on in SP during the winter.

Where are you staying - our favourite bar is The Crown located in The Square - really friendly and great prices!!

It will still be a bit quiet in March - if you are looking for clubs and discos you would have to go in to Magaluf for the evening.

I've just had a look at the magazine & it looks like there will be a lot of the bars & restaurants open. Dont think the Irish bars will be open in the Irish Quarter, I think they open St Patricks Day.

It will be cool in the evenings so take jumpers and light jackets you can check what the weather was like this year in March on http://www.wunderground.com. You should get some sun but whatever the weathers like it will be better than being here!!

Hi,

I have been to Santa Ponsa in March 3 times now and I can tell you that it is cold at night. During the day the temperature can get into the 70's so you can get a sun tan. The night life is quiet at this time, but if you walk around a bit you will always find a bar with a bit of life. There are a good selection of restaurants that will be open as well.

Cheers

Does anyone know whether Gasoline will be performing this season. We seen them many times at The Dubliner 3 years ago and they were outstanding :D . Also, where is the best place for cashing travellers cheques? :?:

hi im going to santa ponsa for the first time on 17th june for 2 weeks with my family, we are staying at the rey don jaime hotel and im hoping to get a wee bit of information about the hotel and resort here such as:

Is the hotel in a good location?
I love shopping is it a good resort for shopping?
Is the beach nice?
We normally holiday in benidorm what are the main differences and similarities in the resorts?
Oh and mum told me to ask if there is a drying rail for clothes in the balcony and if there is a laundrett at the hotel?

Thank you in advance to anyone who can help us out :)

Hi Lorraine

Cant tell you much about the hotel I'm afraid except its in a really good central position.

The resort is not brilliant for shopping - depends on what you want - loads of holiday souvenir shops, loads of perfume shops, there are shoe shops and some nice jewellers and Lladro shops but its not what you would call a great place for shopping. You would be better going to Palma or go to the big shopping outlet Festival Park.

The beach is lovely backed by a small pine wood full of wild parakeets.

Loads of great bars and restaurants to visit - have a look at http://www.santaponsascene.com/ click on the yellow picture and you can download the latest santa ponsa magazine.

Visit The Square during your visit - live entertainment every night.

Sorry couldnt help you with hotel but I am sure someone on here will have been.

If you need any more info just ask.

I stayed at that hotel about 4-5 years ago, probably along time for recermendations but we had a great holiday there good location ie not noisey and a very short level walk to beaches and shops.food great for the 3 star the hotel was then.outlook in the rear rooms was not wonderful but the rest made up for it.we would stay there again

Hi I haven't stayed at the hotel but its in a very central location. Just a short stroll on the flat to the lovely beach. Its not huge but its clean. Although nowhere as busy as Benidorm there is plenty to do for all the family. Loads of bars and restaurants. Santa Ponsa is more or less split into two - the part where you are staying(close to what I call the Irish Quarter) then if you walk up a fairly steep hill the activity starts again although slightly more low key. Magaluf is easily reached by taxi if you want nightclubs. I've stayed in Santa Ponsa 5 times at all different times of the year and have always had a good time. For shopping you need to catch the bus into Palma (approx 45 mins) The bus stop is right by your hotel. The shopping here is excellent - a very cosmopolitan area. Some large shops and loads of small boutique style shops.

Its very different to Benidorm

The beach is very tranquil and very pretty.

The Square area isn't really my cup of tea, I tend to stay away, too many kids and a bit boisterous, but might suit you well. You can find what you want in Santa Ponsa, tho traditional Spanish bars are lacking...though thats not why you go to Santa Ponsa.

Very popular with the Irish too, incredibly popular

You'll find it more expensive than Benidorm, a lot more, but thats representative of the whole island and not just the resort. Shopping-wise its got what you need though its nothing amazing

Don't forget to visit Palma, its a sort of compact Barcelona!

Hi Lorraine
I'm sure you will have a great time staying at Rey Don Jaime, we will be there at the beginning of June, we don't normally stay at the same place again but this will be our third time at this hotel which shows how well we like it. The hotel is in a great location has excellent food, friendly staff, good swimming pool and the entertainment on previous visits has been very good, bar prices are a bit steep though and some of the balcony views are not the best, but overall excellent value for money. Cant remember about a drying rail or launderette,
e.mail them and ask reyjaime@marina-hotels.com
Santa Ponsa is a nice resort not as big as Benidorm but loads to do and see with a lovely beach and warm sea. Plenty of places within easy reach by busses which are cheap but can be crowded, lots of bars/restautants to visit in the evenings, will post when I come back on 6th June.
