They will have missed more than a month Gramps. For sure they will want a reduction but they may not even get the chance to argue about that. :think

If the shacks are not up and running fully, e.g. just using temporary facilities, can anyone tell me what the situation is regarding toilets at the shacks?
I know that they are not the best in the world but they do beat walking off the beach to the hotel etc.

Getting down to the bottom level, I am aware that there is a rather large strech of water nearby in caes of bladder emergencies ;)
(don't bother denying, we all do it!!)

We have been up to morjim to top our tans up over the last few days as it's too hot down in candolim to sit out in it all day, the breeze up the northern beaches is lovely!

Anyway, loads of shacks are fully open up there as they are built on private land. We always go to lovely jubbley when we are there as we know the lads.

To del949,

I am sorry, I did not mean to offend you or anyone else who finds themselves in your position, my hubby has been in the same position as you currently find yourself and it aint no joke. I was merely trying to say that this is what is thought by some Goans in the tourist ministry.

I will not dwell on this further and I hope that you have a wonderful holiday :tup

Del - no toilets in temporary places only the ones on private land. Looks like the sea will be getting more polluted this year. ;)

Don't even think about what the fish do in it :yikes

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but shacks adjourned for another week, next meeting in court 4th December 2009, sure you will all find out the news in tomorrows papers.

OMG we're flying out on Dec 7th, I hope the shacks are up by then :que :que

Think i'll change my user name to Doris Stokes! Another ajournment due for 4th December and so it will go on.
I must say that i do really feel sorry for people who have saved and looked forward to their holiday all year, especially those who just enjoy hanging around the beach and their favourite shack....which is the majority of people i think.
I don't know if tour operators are telling people about this problem does anyone? It's been going on for long enough!
Obviously flight only people will not be told just thinking of package holidaymakers?

We haven't been told, but I can't see any tour operators giving a toss about the shacks really,as long as they get our money :( :(

Probably right salucy....but i think people should be told because obviously they are not going to get what they expected are they? As you say they've had your money!!! :(

I totally agree Spaldy. For us the shacks are an integral part of our hols :( Let's hope they get them sorted asap :(

This is now getting beyond belief The two shack associations who started this mess must be regretting it now. God knows what further deliberations the Supreme Court in Delhi need. I suspect the hoteliiers and resturant owners who are enjoying all this must be having a good chuckle. The Tourist board and many others have always been anti-shacks, as they would like only the top end tourists here, overlooking the fact that the lack of any infrastructure and lack of amenities, would make any client of the likes of Sandy Bay in Barbados run a mile, I suspect it will be some time before we see the likes of Michael Winner and Philip Green arguing with a taxi owner over the price of a fare! I would now not be surprised if the shacks are still up and running by Xmas. The only people loosing out apart from the shack people are the tourists and when were they ever uppermost in the Goan Touristisms list of prioroties.

Gramps: Forget about what type of tourists they want in Goa for a mo,the bottom line is that temporary shacks are not wanted on the beach anymore.
Many people want to see an end to the shacks including the hotels. As we know money talks in Goa and this fiasco will probably be carried on. Before xmas? i very much doubt it....as i said before i hope i'm wrong but just being realistic.
Whilst Lakh's are changing hands left right and centre to get another ajournment i can't see it.
It's at the supreme court in New Delhi now, that could be dragged along to the season end no problem.
Sorry doom & gloom it is....but it certainly looks as if it's going that way.
When do you arrive Salucy?...as you say the shacks is the integral part of your holiday,it is for the vast majority.
If someone had told you this would happen before the season started you wouldn't of believed them would you? We've heard the "Nail in the coffin" remark a few times but i really think they have ruinned things this time. I live on a road very close to the beach,i see people walking down, then a little while later see them walking back looking totally fed up..not funny.
The suns shinning today and its boiling hot...thats one thing they can't ruin!! :que :que
