I think you may enjoy the evening shopping trip into Corfu town which is very pretty and quite reasonable in price as long as not booked through the rep.

Ali,

Me and my girlfriend went to Sidari last year (June) and had a great time. Most days were spent sunbathing on the main beach or at the Canal D'Amour area of the resort. If you are going to do a lot of sunbathing you must check out Sunset Beach along the coast. Its gorgeous with fantastic views (especially as the suns setting - hence the name!). Its too far to walk but if you hire bikes (for about 5 euros a day) they'll give you a map of how to get there. It took us about 20 minutes. You pass through a tiny little village on the way with fabulous old houses and a wonderful church. If you fancy a change from the main resort its well worth seeing.

The day we didn't spend sunbathing we caught the bus to Corfu town. There are lots of nice shops, bars and restaurants so you'll be spoilt for choice if you go. We visited both the Old Fort and the New Fort, both of which provided fantastic views over Corfu Town and a little bit of history aswell.

With regards to drinking at night in Sidari there are loads of bars, pubs and restaurants to choose from although not as many as traditional 18-30s resorts like Faliraki, Malia etc. We found we could make the night as lively or as quiet as we wanted especially once we found out where to go (or where to avoid!)

Hope you find some of this useful!

lottie01,

There is a small waterpark in Sidari but its not really up to much. The main waterpark in Corfu is in the centre of the island and much better - bigger, more slides etc. I'm sure your tour operator will run a trip there but we found it was cheaper, as most things are, to book through one of the travel companies on the main street.

We went to the water park, there are three of the larger slides and an area for smaller children with a couple of slides, although its small, there is no charge to get in, but you do have to by a drink, which is the same price as every where else, so your not ripped off also the food was good there.
You only pay if you go on the rides, think it was 5 euro something like that, but it suited us because we could walk there and I don't go on the slides, other water parks I still have to pay full price.
The staff were really friendly and helpful, they tried to keep all areas clean.

Can anyone advise the best places to change travellers cheques (sterling or euro) in sidari or surrounding area?

thanks

there were banks in Sidari, but we just took our bank card and withdrew money from the whole in the wall when we needed it..

In Greece always best to bring sterling cheques or cash to get the best exchange rate, itis 1.436 here today.
You will get the bank rate at all the local exchange places and should pay a commission of 2%. There is no bank in Sidari only ATM's which are a very expensive way to get cash, you will pay a handling charge for each transaction plus a percentage and you will get the lower Uk exchange rate.

The garvanos apartments are right in the middle of sidari by mcdonalds, they have a pool and pool bar, the meals are nice, the apartments clean, but no shower curatins. Friends of ours stayed there. It is based on the main strip of sidari.

Hope this helps
