I've uploaded some pictures taken earlier today to my webspace at

Put http:// in front of course

Regular visitors will recognise the landmarks.

I don't know when this particular piece of work is due to be finished.

Update.

The town hall, having told Steve and anne-marie at Wild bills the fishermans beach car park was not going to be done until October, work started a couple of days ago.

P up in brewery springs to mind...

Just seen the photos that cubsur has posted on his site, oh dear it do look a mess at the moment, i just hope that they work a likkle bit quicker then when they did the main square. Im sure it will all look nicer when finished (i did say when) im wondering if they are still going to put in the lift up the cliff so we dont have to puff our way up the stairs in 90 degs.
Thanks for the photos keep them coming its great to see work in progress.

The lift is going to be at the western end of the beach, near the Rocamar hotel, not at fishermans car park, as far as I can tell from the plans.

Ooer we're going to the Sol e Mar for 3 nights on March 19th - do we need to bring our hard hats and rigger boots?

....... only if you're planning to give them a hand with the scaffolding !!!! :rofl :rofl

There isn't any work in the area of the Sol e Mar (except for a building being refurbished on the steps by the tunnel) but large areas around the Cais Herculano are effectively off limits. The beaches are still accessible but all the restaurants in that area are closed.

Yesterday they started work knocking down the fisherman's sheds by the pier. This company does seem to be getting on with it.

The steps up at the Rocamar end of the beach are still closed however.

Thanks Cubsur for keeping us informed.........I don't know the area well at all - only ever popped into the Old Town briefly.

Oh well it's done now so we'll have to grin and put up with it.

I have uploaded some more pictures taken yesterday and a few days ago showing the extent of progress. They are working until 8pm unlike that last contractor. Progress seems to be good so far. The O Farol restaurant which some of you may know is soon to be demolished; a new one will be built a few yards away.

Looking at the photos its hard to see how they are going to make a terrace at Wild Bills, its exciting seeing the progress with each new set of photos they are certainly working faster than before. Keep them coming .......

The present phase of work is to be finished by 31st May, then stops for the main holiday season.

How much will be left over for the resumption in October remains to be seen. I will add pix this weekend.

Meanwhile the demolition of the O Farol beach restaurant has started today.

Just got back from the old town and the works didn't bother us at all. We were staying in the Sol e Mar over the tunnel, but we did walk round there to have a look.

heard there is to be a pathway made to link west end of beach to the fishing area of the marina, does anyone know if this is correct ?.
