Staying at the Rocamar 14th July for two weeks. Should i be worried? Is the building work seriously inconveniencing holidaymakersin general?
There are some inconveniences but the overall picture is OK. At the Rocamar end of the beach the steps have been repaired and are once again open but a small section of the beach is fenced off as work continues to build a lift from the clifftop down to the beach. Most of the work down in the old town area will be stopped mid-July.
From the way all the workers were shaking hands outside Wildbills last night it looked like they had finished until September
I shall find out later. Going down to watch a bit of cricket - if it stops raining at Lords.
Mind you there was no-one working this afternoon and all sorts of junk was lying around.
Usual address.
Apparently they must finish off the new square by the pier (Largo 25 de Abril) before they are allowed off for the summer.
Slow, slow progress! I have just uploaded some pictures taken yesterday around the Largo 25 de Abril.
Hello cubsur, well we have just come back after our two weeks and just had a look at you last update (12th July) this was the day we left. When we got there the fence was just being taken down and there was a bit of work going on near the beach, but it now looks as if the builders have all gone on there holidays. As a builder myself I can't get my head round the way they have just gone of and left all those big slabs laying about and the pavments unfinished, they would never get away with it on a site in England.
Yes, in England someone would have nicked the slabs and made a nice path in their garden! There was a bit of desultory activity yesterday in the big hole; I shall comment once more before I disappear to France on Friday.
Not much has happened in the 3 weeks I have been away getting wet in France but I will update the 'blog' by the end of this week.
Sorry I have deleted this post as I made a mistake and posted it in the wrong thread. Cheers Jayjan
Some recent pictures uploaded this morning; some will depress you but others will cheer you up, I hope!
Hi Cubsur. thanks for the update photos. What a mess they have made of the marble slabs, they sure will have to re-lay the broken ones, but wonder when that will be, maybe when all these gigs have taken place all the lot will need to be done again, what a waste of money.Cheers Jayjan

I have uploaded a couple of dozen pictures taken Sunday afternoon at Next update on this theme will be around 18 November; next week I shall publish the first instalment of photos taken on a recent visit to Porto, Braga and Guimaraes.
When we went end of September all that we saw was the lift being done on the beach, We were in the Cerro Grande area and never really went down right through the Old Town so it didn't bother us at all.
Look forward to seeing your photos from Porto its a place I would like to visit after doing Lisbon and its coast and the Algarve, would like to do it as a city break some time.
