My weigh is tomorrow. There is a girl in our class who was the slimmer of the week nearly every week, losing 2-3lbs each time. And she wasn't very big to start with. Maybe a stone over. She got her target certificate a few weeks back. Last week she was upset because she was gaining !! Well I think that that is too much to lose each week if you don't have much to lose. She said she kept to it 100%. Well once at target she most probably started eating normally and her body wasn't used to the drastic regime. It's all a balance of healthy eating and allowances for a few treats and being prepared to have good days and bad days.So long as you don't think you have blown it and continue in mad bingeng mode.
Hi everyone, i'm new to this thread so better tell you a little bit about me. I followed the slimming world diet on my own through books (never went to any classes) and lost 3 stone. I put a stone back on and i have recently had a baby and luckily back to the weight i was before having her but would still like to loose a couple of stones! Trying to follow slimming world again and have lost 7lb so far. Going on holiday in june and my brother is getting married in September so i've got them to focus on! Wish me luck
Sounds like you have everything under control Daisy. Keep it up
Good for you being able to do it on your own. I tried and failed miserably. I think I need the competition of the class or should I say support
Lynn
I went for my second SW weigh-in and I had lost 3 lbs (2 lbs last week). I don't know how I managed it as all I seemed to do last week was eat.
One thing our group leader spoke about was that after a few weeks, people stop weighing their healthy extras and syns, so they end up either over estimating or under estimating. She has said we have to be really strict with ourselves.
She repeated that if we want to lose weight regularly, we must not have more than 10 syns each day.
If you go off the plan for one meal, do not beat yourself up about it as you can start the following day afresh. If you beat yourself up, you can, like me, end up turning to food for comfort. Before you know it you are back to square one.
Regarding, the bloating, I too have had that together with constipation. I am eating more fruit and veg than ever before, but I just cannot poo. We were advised to drink lots of water and to also buy Aduki beans and put those in our food (especially on the green days) as these act as a diuretic. So I have bought a tin of them from Tesco and also a bag of dry beans. I also bought a packet of that new fibre product 'fibre sure', so hopefully, things will correct themselves soon.
Well done to those who lost weight this week and to those who did not lose any, don't get disheartened. We can always come onto this board and talk about it.
Sheila.
Well done with the weight loss . What a confidence booster.
With regard to syns, my consultant told us that having your maximum 15 syns a day will not necessarily mean a weight gain. I have been doing SW now for almost a year at the end of February and in that time, I have lost 3½ stone. Apart from one week when I stayed the same (and used only around 65 syns that week), I have had a loss at every weigh-in up until 4 December (whether that be a ½lb or the most 5lb) and more often than not, I have used my full quota of syns daily. It has only been since December that I have experienced weight gains which - hands up - have been by my own fault with overeating, eating the wrong things and basically indulging in all the wonderful things that christmas brings (but I did so enjoy them ).
You are right about getting lax in the weighing of certain items. Guilty as charged. It is amazing how much you do under and over estimate when guessing. In my case its always over!
Im hoping to have a positive weigh-in on Tuesday and so far this week, ive been doing really well. Its been back to basics, lots of weighing of items and despite cravings for chocolate and biscuits (definate withdrawal there) eating plenty of "free" yoghurts and fruit. We shall see what happens.
This thread has proved a tremendous help to me and even if not posting, I always read each day and celebrate with each and every lb that is lost.
Sarah
My problem is i'm fine during the day but after tea i become hungry and thats when i want to nibble! Wrong time i know!!
I am the sort of person who would ordinarily give that a rest, but as I am approaching 50, I really want to be the correct weight for my height.
I don't know about anyone else, but I am starting to creak and ache a lot. I don't know if it is hormones or weight or age, but I am fed up with feeling ill most of the time. I know my other half is fed up with my complaining about feeling ill. I find that having a big chest, I slouch forward a lot and that makes my neck and shoulders really ache.
I have found that if I go above 10 syns a day I don't do so well. I think it all depends on your metabolism and how much you have to lose in the first place. I like the idea of setting the total number of weekly syns allowed, in my case 70,at the beginning of the week and counting backwards to zero.
I had a lovely salmon stir fry tonight that really filled me up.
Keep up the good work everybody. We will have good days and bad days but just think, by the summer, we could all be much lighter and not frighten small children on the beach
went for my 2nd weighing session at WW, nearly had an heart attack when she told me that I'd only lost 1/2 lb This was after spending the week exercising, eating a healthy diet and drinking loads of water...what went wrong ?
Then I suddenly cheered up...I remembered that I'd been wearing a particulary heavy pair of earrings when I got weighed and the sheer weight of my loverly personality must of made me a wee bit heavier.... LoL
Upwards and onwards for next week ,keep up the good work ladies
Julie
by the summer, we could all be much lighter and not frighten small children on the beach :rofl
Well here's hoping!
Well done to everyone who's lost and those who haven't...don't give up!!
Lost another 2lb's this week so pleased with that. Just got to keep it up now!
hi,im new to this topic. i have just started the slimming world diet (by using the books at home not by going to class, no time with work) on wednesday.im got a few stone and hope to be a bit lighter for my hols in august.ive noticed a lot of members are following the sw diet.
I love this thread I have been reading through your posts and find it really helps to know i am not alone in the crusade to shift some weight
I too normally have trouble in the toilet department (to much info) and i have found that ryvita has really helped me this time (sesame are really nice)
I have always been on 10 syns ( never even had the option to have 15)
Also i personally dont believe you cant eat at night and not lose weight as i always have supper around 9pm and it has never stopped me losing ( and i look forward to having something sweet and savoury while watching tv) I just save a b section for a sandwich and use my syns for chocolate or if i am running low on syns i have a options drink, if no syns left i have a muller light. There is nothing worse to a dieter than becoming hungry and thats the best thing about slimming world is there is no need to EVER go hungry because there are lots of free foods.
Keep up the good work guys
Oh yeah i had a thought the other day and if like me you are dreading the thought of taking your coat off when the sun comes out then this is the thought for you too, It is nearly feb and then when feb has gone its march now i know that march is not always sunny but it can be sometimes and i always think of march as the very begining of summer ( its keeping me on track I know that much) Cant stand the thought of walking around in the scorching heat with a coat on again this year. Please tell me i am not alone in this trick thinking no one can see how big i am under my coat ( must be magic!!)
Kerrie
How many of us have sweltered in the heat but refused to take our coat of with the reply "It's OK. I'm not feeling hot"
Hope everyone is having a good week. Don't know what to expect at weigh in on Tuesday as I am on antibiotics for cystitis, feeling a bit sickly so just eating things like SW recipe soups, JP etc all ok but have heard sometime the less you eat thee less the weight loss.
To lower the tone regarding constipation and not going to the loo - our consultant mentioned glycerine suppositries - bought them but have not used them, only short term and I suppose you take them when no movement makes you sluggish.
On that note I am off!!!!
Speak soon.
Irene
On the subjuct of not losing much when you dont eat alot it happened to me. I was decorating for a week once and although i wasnt doing it on puppose i wasnt eating, because i was so busy i just forgot to eat through the day and just had sandwich or something light for tea. When i got weighed that week i had a very small weight loss but saying this i dont understand why. Maybe its what they say and your body goes into shock and starts to store the fat ( crafty little things our bodies)
If you dont feel well enough to eat there is not much you can do but keep your fingers crossed at least you can be sure that your not going to gain.
Kerrie
Ive been on here once before but now im determined to lose my weight
I need to lose at least 3-4 stone and by august this year
Ive tried every diet and i need ideas as i want to do it at home &
Be able to lose the weight without joining slimming clubs
All Help Wopuld Be Greatful
Thanks Sii xoxo
If you can possibly afford the time and the money, it really is better to join a slimming club, if there is one in your area. I have tried many times over the years to lose weight but have only been successful since I joined my local Slimming World!! It's much easier to lose weight and remain focussed with the support and encouragement of others in the same boat...... Plus you get all the books and info and advice you need.
Thats One Of My Problems Though As im At College 3 days A Week & At Work Another 3 Dyas So Its Difficult To Go To Clubs & Ive Also Tried Most Of Them So I Wanted To Know Of Home Things xoxo
