cocobongo - you need to phone TC, for some reason it always overcharges online. I have mentioned this several times. Phone as near as possible to 9am. It should be £20 for seats together and then £6 each way for 'your seat your choice'

cocobongo.

If you look a few posts back the way (17/3* onwards), you will see that I was asking (almost) the same question.I've ended up paying the £64 for two seats but from what I gather in your case you'll need to pay another £64 and then get on to TC to refund your original £40.Seemingly the online system does not recognise that you have already paid the £40.As I mentioned in an earlier post, the chances are that if you don't pay to specify your seat early then because other people have, you and your partner may not even be sitting close to each other.
The original £40 is to book "seats together" (which may be across an aisle or one in front of the other) and the additional £24 is for being able to pick specific seats.
This information is as accurate as I can make it and I'm sure if it isn't then someone else will point out my mistakes!

Thanks for your replies, I'm gonna phone the travel agent first thing and ask THEM to phone Thomas Cook Airlines and sort this farce out, I don't see why I should spend the morning on hold (nor do I have the time with work etc) or pay premium rate numbers to sort this out. Hopefully the travel agent will sort it, if not I'll have to call Friday morning unfortunately.

Meh, I knew I should have booked with First Choice.

buzzer14,

TCX036K/L are operated by an Airbus A330-200. You'll find further aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (link below).

Just tried to post a link but it seems I'm too new.

If you go on to saynoto0870 dot com and search Thomas Cook Airlines you get an 0161 number instead of having to use the premium rate number :tup

Just tried it and as its after 6pm I got through to security but he said if I call between 9-6 I should be able to get it sorted!

cocobongo -thats good re the 0161 number. Make sure you keep a note of it. I will probably ask you for it next year, when they still haven't changed the system :rofl

paul54,

I thought you were flying with Thomson Airways on 24th May? LGW-DLM-LGW (TCX718K/L) is scheduled to be operated by an Airbus A320-200. You'll find further aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (link below).

Just another update incase you are interested;

Thomas Cook did indeed phone me back before 11am which I was very happy about and it took about 5 minutes to book my seats. The only issue now is I've never had the confirmation email through which I was told would be through within the hour so I will have to call back tomorrow to check on that but over all am very happy thanks to this board and to my friend for the 0161 number. Can't believe I was considering paying the price on the website!

cocobongo - a great result! I have waited a couple of days before now for confirmation e-mails, but other times only seconds, when they have said it will be 48hrs!
where are you off to on your hols? judging by your user name I guess Mexico?

Ah okay, I'll leave it a few days to see if I get my confirmation email then.

We are off on the 10th of May, and yes you guessed right - Mexico :D This is our 5th trip there, but only our second time with Thomas Cook - we've been twice with First Choice and once with Cosmos/Monarch (wouldn't go with them again if it was free! - well maybe I would :rofl )

Thomas Cook operate Airbus A330-200's on their long haul flights. You'll find further information on our What Aircraft? guide (link below). These have seat back IFE throughout. It won't have the on-demand (start/stop/pause/rewind) functionality however, it's a looped based system. Premium seating is personal preference really. You are essentially paying for 2" increase in seat pitch, wider seats, increased baggage allowance, complimentory drinks, upgraded meals, increased movie selection and a few other perks. Personally, I don't think it's worth the extra and would rather put the money towards a nicer hotel and get 2 weeks worth from it.

Thanks Darren you have helped many times in the past with my questions . I will see how much the upgrades are tom , then decide , but disappointed about the stop, start etc on the tv as with FC the upgraded seats offer this .Shanti

shanti43,

The IFE system on TCX (MYT) A332's is an older system. Thomson / First Choice aircraft have only had it installed for 2 / 4 years respectively so they were able to retro-fit newer technology that wasn't available when Thomas Cook (and Airtours / My Travel) ordered their aircraft. Thomas Cooks newest aircraft, G-TCXA does have the newer generation AVOD system fitted. However it'll be based in Gatwick operating short/mid haul flights this summer in a high density configuration.
