Are you one of the unfortunate people who were going to Mexico and have had to rebook to Dom Rep or Jamaica? I only ask as your flight numbers aren't standard so I assume it's one of the extra services. TOM816/7 are showing as operated by a former Thomsonfly Boeing 767-304/ER (283 / long haul). You'll find further aircraft details on our What Aircraft? thread.

Thank you very much. Yes we are one of the unfortunate few! We originally were told it would be an ex fca plane and hoped it would be kept this way, ie swap flight to mexico to flight dom rep, preferred the look of the fca premium cabin to the thomson one. Do you know if the ex fca premium cabin are any better than the thomson premium cabin? thank you very much for your quick reply! :)

The FC cabin has the mood lighting which I really like, which the Thomsonfly aircraft do not have.

The meal tray is in your arm rest you actually get more width in the Thomsonfly premium cabin seats. The seats themselves are comfier on the first choice aircraft as they have more padding in the seat.

The former first choice aircraft however are showing their age and some need some TLC where as the Thomsonfly aircraft are better in that department thanks the the darker more sturdy leather used.

After reading feedback from customers who have travelled in both types some prefer the smaller more individual service on the ex Thomsonfly cabin as it allows the crew more time to give you attention.

The way they cabin is layed out, you also get chance to disembark first on the ex First Choice Aircraft where as its a bit mixed on the Thomsonfly ones, depending where the airport brings the steps/airbridge too.

The IFE tends to be less problematic on the Thomsonfly 767's because they have less to break and go wrong being touch screen(no remote for someone to damage)

They both have their pro's and cons it depends what your looking for.

mcgee17,

There's nothing more I can add to BY-TOM-AMM-FCA's post oher than I'm not too keen on the mood lighting (premium cabin, ex-FCA). I've never seen the point of it and find the purple glow irritating. I know it's supposed to help with jetlag and give a nicer cabin ambience, but a normally lit cabin does the trick for me!

Your flights, MAN-SSH-MAN (TOM572/3) are operated by a Boeing 767-304/ER (328 seats - short haul). These are condifugred 2-4-2 throughout. You'll find further aircraft information on our What Aircraft? thread, including a seating plan. You can request seats up to 6 weeks prior to your departure date. It cost £5 per flight (£10 return). Details of how to book them are on Thomson's website or you can find the cheap rate number on Saynoto0870.com.

Littlebit,

Some of the short haul aircraft are former long haul, reconfigured for short haul work (if you know what I mean!). You might be lucky and get one with seat back IFE, most are.

thanks you two.....what a relief....

BY-TOM-AMM-FCA......atleast hope of getting fed with that list.....except for the mash spuds which gives me cronic indigestion and can make me sick....dont know why as spuds any other way dont effect me.....and the salt which will make us all feel sick ( probably lots of others too....so please request your bosses to sort it out or order extra sick bags....people are getting more health concious now.... :yikes and me thinks too much salt adds to risk of leg clots ).....I use very little salt in my cooking so if your noticing the meals are too salty dont know how they will taste to us...

we are flying 20.00 something flight to rhodes second week in august....think this is a medium haul.....think it lands at 3.05am so need make sure either can eat meals ot take something ourselves

D3ANO,

BRS-PMI-BRS (TOM6660/1) are operated by a Boeing 757-200. More information on our What Aircraft? thread. It'll be an ex-Thomsonfly aircraft although there's not a lot of diffence really. They have the slimline Recaro seats fitted rather than the standard seats in the FCA birds.

EDIT: BY-TOM-AMM-FCA just beat me to it!

Hi,

I was hoping someone could tell me what kind of plane will be operating my flight and if the seat configuration will be 2-4-2 or 2-3-2, I'm flying Newcastle to Cancun on Mon 29th June 09, returning Mon 13th July 09. Sorry I haven't got my flight numbers but I haven't got my tickets yet and they don't seem to be on my booking confirmation email!

Thanks
