Lloyds TSB platinum account includes free holiday insurance, Which does not cover my diabetes.
beware of any free holiday insurance as they often have many restrictions one example some do not cover for illness encountered before you leave and some do not cover cancellations
Thanks, travellight
The risk of not declaring it is that any claim may be rejected, even if not directly connected with that condition.
If you don't already have insurance, check out the links to recommended insurers on page 1 of this thread.

hi my boyfriend had a bike accident last september he sufferd a fractured skull and some other injuries hes ok now thank god, but do u think this would affect our insurance at all?
Hi linzi_lou ... that depends very much on the insurer, but the terms and conditions of many policies stipulate that you should tell them not only about any pre-existing medical conditions, but also about any illnesses, accidents, hospital treatments, insurance claims, etc in the preceding 12 months. It would be best to disclose details of the accident and allow the insurer to decide if it is relevant. If their terms are unfavourable, shop around for a better deal.
weve already brought our insurance with the travel agent we booked our hol with thompsons silver insurance think it is, didnt really think about it too much till reading these posts.
It would be best that he gets in touch with the insurance company. In the unlikely event that he needs to make a claim, even for something completely unrelated to the injuries sustained in that accident, they could reject that claim if they check his medical history and discover that he did not disclose the accident and hospital treatment to them. As far as they would be concerned, by not disclosing, he may have failed to comply with the terms and conditions of the policy and any claims could be declined.
Thanks David for your reply,
I have just bought my travel insurance for my 2007 holiday through insurance supermarket. It was cheap at £15 for my family of 5. Has anyone had any problems using these policies or are they OK? The company id flexi cover direct which is exclusive to money supermarket.
£15 for five people ?? That's ridiculously cheap for travel insurance. Are you sure that this covers everything you need ?I really hope that you have had a bargain but would urge you to check the coverage AND the small print very, very carefully.
£15 for 5 0f you only 4 of us an we paid a lot more i think we were ripped off compared too you
I've checked everything and it seems ok. If anyone wants to check, try
If you're unsure, why not pick up a travel insurance leaflet from your local bank or supermarket ( you could even try you local pub - everybody sells insurance these days ! ) and check what eventualities your policy covers as compared to other policies.Pay special attention to the 'pre-existing conditions' exclusions and also to the 'excess'(the first amount of any claim you have to pay) clauses.
However We can remove cancellation cover if we wish for a reduction or increase or decrease excesses to 50 or None. Premiums aren't expensive
vary from 24.70 to 39.87 depending on which one you want.
Dont know what to do about excess or whether we need cancellation now as we go Thursday Morning.
Which one would you go for 0 excess at 39.87 or increase excess to 50 (from 35) for 24.70 to 31.75. Cancellation or None?
I know you might think its late but we only booked a few weeks ago and paid in full, Esure let you download Policy documents and Policy No's etc so no worries about it getting here before we go.
PS I like the comment about trying your local Pub!
However, does anyone know of any insurance companies that will cover you if you are on oxygen therapy ?
TIA

Can anyone recommend a travel insurance company that specialises in covering people who are pregnant? I'll need European cover. Currently I have free insurance with my bank but they won't cover me for pre-existing conditions.
Cananyone recomend single travel insurance for a family of three one of whom is a diabetic help would be appreciated
Hi steamy ... if you check out the recommended insurers on page 1 of this topic, you will see a section relating to companies providing 'Cover for pre-existing medical conditions'. It would be worth trying each one of them, but Marks & Spencer, Direct Travel Insurance and Insure & Go have been mentioned at various times in this thread specifically in relation to cover for diabetes.
