It's about time for a Ju contribution to the Vegas 2010 thread again!!!!!

We are off to Philadelphia in just over 4 weeks time which is something we've been planning to do for years and I can't believe we never visited on our RTW trip back in 2006 which included over 7 weeks in the USA......!!! Anyway, it's booked, it's cheap and will be our first visit to the USA since August 2008 which included Vegas.

Now Vegas. We've got two weeks booked off work in September and I tentatively mentioned it to my Wife at the weekend. To my surprise she seemed quite keen, but only for a week maximum and again only if we can save up enough with a bathroom revamp planned for mid 2010. So it looks like I might be a frequent visitor to this great thread yet again....fingers crossed anyway.

Glad to hear a lot of you have your Vegas fix planned already!!! :tup

Okay so my hubby and I had a discussion last night. We're not going on holiday this year but will definitely going to Vegas next summer. My parents are going this year either, so I think we'll all be going next summer. I'm counting down already :rofl

We have now booked the Orleans for our first 2 nights too. So we are now doing 5 nights Orleans, 5 nights Desert Rose, then 5 still unbooked. I'm thinking North Strip, not sure where. This means no MGM this year :( . I can't see any deals for North Strip really at all. Thinking we could stay at TI or Mirage, but no deals (and high resort fees.). If offers and budget permit, we'd do Venetian or Palazzo but offers may or may not be there. Slightly tempted by $95 for Trump. Maybe too far North though, however like the idea of having a fridge!

Has anyone on here stayed at Trump? I can't remember anyone mentioning before. Failing that there's a few others I never think about like Harrah's and Bally's - any thoughts?

Hi Lesley,

Well done on getting some hotels booked!
Just a word on Trump, I looked into it last year as there were some good deals on - I did some research and found that a few people said it was a bit 'scary' walking to the strip at night as the area was very poorly lit and felt unsafe. When we were there last year I checked it out when we were up that end of the strip and I have to say it looked very dark indeed and it's quite a way back from the strip ( I looked from the strip mind you, I didn't walk all the way down). Not necessarily a reason not to stay there but something to consider maybe as you don't want to feel uncomfortable staying there.

I'm still looking at the moment, Luxury suites have a deal on for the Signature but it's still pretty expensive because of the resort fees, will probably hold off for another two or three months unless something jumps out in the meantime.

Edited to say I've just checked my players cards (MGM and Harrahs) and we have offers for 5 free nights in total at the mo' so hopefully that will be the same in Sept', I've never used my comps before)! :D

Cheers,

TC

Hi TeeCee

That's a good point then about Trump - I didn't realise that and yes it probably would bother me a bit, although we would never be walking alone but then you don't need to be alone to feel uncomfortable!

When you say about Harrah's offers - is it a restricted period then, ie not right up to September yet? Last year we could have got a free room at Bally's in September midweek, but as there were 6 of us travelling we couldn't take them up on it :( Maybe something will crop up this year.

We're still thinking of moving house, so that might decide out budget for our final 5 nights stay! :que

Apologies if I've posted this before, but we have booked our second 2010 trip to Vegas now. We'll be there 5th Oct to 27th Nov.

Aw...Pebbles...you're not excited are you?? :rofl Where are you staying for all those nights? Well, I'm thinking maybe you've not planned it that much yet? Do you tend to stay in one place for about a week though? I'm thinking that moving every 3 days or so would be a bit tiresome. I can't believe you're going for that long, but I'm thinking you've done that before?

I've forgotten when your first trip is - is it May?

Well we're going to be low budget this year I would think...we've decided to buy a house, hope to move in July just waiting on them tying things off just now then we will know for sure! Quite a bit leap for us, but I'm quite glad we have flights booked and $ ordered, so now we HAVE to go to Vegas!! :cheers I think we will probably try to get a good deal for the last 5 nights now, probably won't be Venetian or Palazzo unless they have great deals. As we're staying at Orleans (mid strip shuttle), Desert Rose (close to South Strip)....I'm thinking North Strip would be better. At least Orleans is quite inexpensive for food and drinks etc, then Desert Rose has the fridge and also the manager's reception (drinks). That will probably save money. We're going for 15 nights, which we probably wouldn't have done if we'd known, but we'll be working hard doing up the house all being well, so we'll need a break. :sun2

Lesley, our trip in May/June is for 6 weeks, and so far I have the whole lot booked at Excalibur using a facebook deal from last November. Nothing has come close to those prices yet. We usually move around a bit to follow the good room deals. Staying put in one place will be a change for us.

Last May we did Excalibur, Rio X2, Flamingo, IP and Orleans. Last Oct/Nov we did Gold Coast X2, Orleans X2 and IP X2.

Hi Pebbles

All in one hotel, eh!? You'll get residency! $20 trick would be very very worthwhile if it works! :rofl

Do you have a Coast Casinos Ruby Card, and if so have you registered it online? When you register you can get 2 free nights for about a month. Hubby is saving his registration till later to see if he can get them for September. I also got an offer though for $25 nights, so booked those. There are also regular deals on $29 rates for most weeknights, which is a great deal.

What sort of deal is Excalibur doing? I'm tempted to try their widescreen rooms at some point as they look good for the price. I'm thinking we want North Strip though for our final 5 nights, so it might not quite fit for this trip.

Yes we both have Coast Cards, but are already registered.

The Excalibur offer was only on facebook for about 5 days. There were a lot of nights for only $22, so I snapped them up. I'll look out out total for the whole trip, but I think it's coming out at about $250 per week overall.

OMG that was good! I suppose you could even keep your room there and take up offers and do a night or two elsewhere without a full re-pack etc.

That's a very cheap deal!
