and not when we got to the airport
On the Thomson website it says it is your responsibility to check if you need a visa to enter a country , and to check the .gov.uk website , perhaps soon they will contact you and tell you this though ?? I wonder if it will be an email with the link to the £25 travel visa company or the official site ?
I think a little more pro active customer service would be a good thing , I think definitive and accurate service would be the least you should expect from a company who specialises in selling holidays .

Please remember to use the OFFICIAL Visa application website and NOT the one that Thomson / First Choice are promoting that costs at least twice the amount per Visa, naughty
Also to reiterate the OFFICIAL website given by Kiltman, there are lots of unofficial sites with similar addresses with the words evisa. , so don't just google evisa turkey as some of them charge from £27.99 to an eye watering £55 GBP !!!!! FCO do give advice to be aware of the unofficial websites
The authorities seem to change the rules all the time!
I read on a Turkey forum that they were delaying the time that the visa must be purchased before arriving and it can still be bought at the airports.
The authorities seem to change the rules all the time!
My understanding of this is that a delay WAS reported in a Dutch? newspaper which has subsequently withdrawn the article as it was incorrect and was refuted by the Turkish Ministry who insist the Visa on arrival is DEFINITELY being withdrawn from the 10th April and all visitors must purchase the Visa online prior to travel.
Here is a useful page for information on how to get the evisa:
Greetings, thank you for the info regards ,wee-john
You will actually still be able to get a visa at the airport this summer season. They are installs evisa kiosks at airports but it will cost £20 per person, so do try to get your visas before hand.

I thought you couldn't get it more than 3 months before you travel.
they said they will do visa for the normal cost of a visa from 11th feb til 9th march for no fee
no good to us as we don't travel till august
that's what we thought so no good for us .
asked at travel agent today about the letter we received and was told the visa is 180 days so we should be ok getting the first week in march . i have not heard anything about a visa being 180 days
for us. we travel in august to alanya . the visa's are dated from june
to december . we paid £13.00 each.
So they can be done more than 3 months in advance then. That's good to know.
yes i wanted to know if were valid for our hols before we bought them . only gone up £3 not bad
travel agent was cheaper than they said when i checked my bank statement it was only £11.99 Each for our visa's plus 24p currency exchange good price .suits us
Glad you're all sorted Boroboy
