We are due to fly sunday from Bournemouth with Thomson. Can anyone 'in the know' tell me that IF IF IF airspace is open by then, are Thomson more likely to carry out all the flights that should have happened Thurs/Fri/Sat, or are those flights likely to have been cancelled completely and then they 'start again' with the sunday flights if you see what I mean. I know if we are lucky enough to fly Sunday there is more than likely going to be a delay, I'm just wondering if the backlog of Bournemouth flights have to be cleared before they even think about ours?

Thanks

Darren any thoughts on Sunday. It is like asking if you have a crystal ball?

I know as much as you guys do as we rely on information from NATS and the Met Office. We're at the mercy of mother nature at the moment, it's out of anyones hands. The situation is being reviewed regularly. Everyone just needs to have a little patience as the restrictions are in place for aircraft and passenger safety. The decision wasn't taken lightly. I have friends currenty sat at Manchester airport, who were also there this time yesterday waiting to fly out to the Caribbean to board a cruise. The boat has set sail so they're going to fly to wherever they can pick it up. At the moment though, they're going nowhere fast.

Please see above and Vans post, and my reply to your post on the Thomson Airways topic. No one knows how long this will last.

Latest news, UK airspace is to remain closed until 1am Saturday morning. Some flights in to Glasgow, Belfast and Prestwick may opperate up to 7pm. Of course all this is under constant review so keeping checking for latest information. NATS will review the situation at 2.30pm.

Health issues might arise from this so please take note of current advice from the Health Protection Agency in conjunction with Health Protection Scotland and the Met Office which has provided updated information for the public.

Have posted on the Qatar Airline discussion, but need quite a quick answer.

A friend is travelling from Bangkok to Doha to Heathrow on Sunday. I assume he will have to present himself at the Bangkok for the first leg of the flight, and then sort out the second leg at Doha?

I'm sure this question will be relevant for lots of travellers on lots of airlines from lots of destinations.

Due to fly to Malaga Wednesday started to look at possibility of driving but the Tunnel and Ferries may all get full. Also can not book anything until flight is cancelled and sure of getting a refund, if the outbound flight is cancelled would I get a full refund including the return a week later or just the outbound?

My daughter knows many people stuck out on holiday....with practical GCSEs starting at the beginning of next week.

Panicked when reading the daily mail, which said distruption could last six months...I fly to turkey in just under 12 weeks :cry . But lets just take it a day at a time, and get the stranded people back first

Hi we're due to fly out to Corfu 10th May if this disruption is still going what happens with the holiday package?? Is there a chance of a refund or will they just change the flights? :que

Thank you very much

The Irish Aviation Authority has just lifted restrictions on its airspace, following an improvement in conditions over Ireland. However, any resumption in services will still be severely limited due to restrictions in the UK and elsewhere in Europe. The IAA stresses that the situation is under constant review and may be liable to further change.

I have spoken to my TA and Celebrity cruises have information on their web site. My flights are on Sunday but X say that if they can't get you out then they will either fly you to meet the Ship. In our case not possible as it is a T/A and the first 6 days are sea days. OR they will book you on another cruise if it costs more then you will have to pay the extra. OR if less you will get a refund.
I have looked at what might be suitable for me.
Solstice in the Caribbean doing a 7 night BTB on 25th April 2nd May or 9th May. Plenty of available rooms.
My poor granddaughter will be in Italy for another day at least and some of the kids 12 & 13year olds are now upset but she is fine.

Good luck to everyone out there and also thanks to Darren. As you say safety is paramount and this decision would not be taken without due cause. JUST X everything.

Why are 'some' flights being allowed? I would have thought that Glasgow, was particularly at risk.

Glasgow should be at no more risk than any other airport, in fact it is an improvement in conditions over parts of Scotland and Ireland which has allowed this lifting of restrictions. However, although a very limited number of flights may be allowed on certain routes to, from or within those countries should the airlines wish to operate them, it seems some of the airlines concerned are reluctant to do so because of the possibility of further short notice changes to the situation and the subsequent risk of serious delays or cancellations.

According to Sky the flights that might be allowed from Scotland and Ireland are not jets but prop aircraft who fly much lower and there is less risk.

Yes, but not exclusively, as some transatlantic flights are also operating at Glasgow and Dublin. Glasgow is also taking some inbound flights from the Dominican Republic, Orlando and Mexico, which have been diverted from Gatwick. Those passengers then face a very long coach journey down south.
