ellsbells!!
have you asked your airline the size of the hand luggage allowance? maybe you could fit your dress in a small suitcase within this size?
or even wear it !! lol !! ( at least we'd know our dresses were safe!!)
im getting married at capo bay on 17 june.
if my dress does have to go into the hold i dont think i can wait at the carousel for my case to appear!!
to all you brides who think your wedding is ages away yet- the time will be here before you know it, we booked ours beginning of 2006 and its now only 59 days away!!
lesley xx
They have said as long as it does'nt weigh over 10kg they will carry it free of charge but this does'nt make a diffrence to me as i am taking my 2 children with me and that means we are allowed 4 cases anyway. Just hope it doent at lost ang go to another resort can you imagine Who are you flying with?
Atleast if you wear it you can guarantee it wont be lost ha ha ha lol !
we booked our holiday with first choice, but our flight is thomson.
they have told me like you i can take the dress in its own case as long as its not over 10kg.
the hand luggage allowance is 55x40x20cm. im going to get a case this size just to try my dress other wise it will have to go in hold.

We are flying out with Thomas Cook who seem to have the smallest dimensions for hand luggage 43x28x23 .My dress is not big but don't know if it would fit in anything so small. Also have not seen any cases that small. Hoping to get a call from Bridal shop this week for 2nd fitting and will ask then if they can fold it. When I had my 1st fitting she told me about how she would bag it securely for taking on the plane to hang so hopfuly they can help me out.
I havent really looked into getting a suitcase for my dress think i would need a big one if you take the under skirt into account. When you think about it how many people have lost there luggage when they arrive at their destination whats the chances of that. But i guess the question is do you want to risk it ? Or will we ahve any choice dont think i will.
stop worrying about whether the dress will be there when we land
everything will be fine
got a dress fitting appointment at 1.30 its being taken up, i've lost another half a stone since i last tried it on about 6 wks ago!!
was a bit tight then so hopefully its fine now!!

Hi lesley have you bought a big dress and are you going to manage to take it on board?
Bit worried as to how HOT i will be in it but surpose its only for a couple of hours
i going to give it a try though!!
just been to try it on and i only need it turning up,a hoop added on the back so i can hook train up and the panel behind the lace up altering slightly.
only charging £45 so im pleased with that
have you got a large dress? its going to be hot in june so i dont envy you in august!

theres a site on net "emptybox"
that do travel boxes for dresses for flights ive had a quick look but sorry i cant see the sizes you need, have a look like i say i only had a quick look!
is your dress really big?if not i know some girls have taken there dresses rolled up in a sports bag!!i know it sounds like your dress will get creased but have a word with the dress shop see what they think.
Yes its quite big to be honest and the under skirt is bigger. I also asked my wedding co-ordinator about the dress being creased on arrival he said if you hang it in the heat a couple of hours before the wedding there wont be a crease in sight so that is my plan!
Hi EllsBells
I'm getting married in June in Limassol. I see you say about putting dress in a sports bag - when i picked mine i told the bridal shop i was going away to get married and that I was worried about transport for the dress. they told me to turn the dress inside out, roll it up in a ball and out it in a sports bag - it all depends on the material of your dress - if its a heavy material like lace/net etc this is perfect but if your dress is silk for example not so good an idea!
I'm more worried about my bridesmaid dress that my own! At least I'll have mine should her's not show haha
Thanks Cyprus piper but when i mentioned it to Igor at I Do weddings he mentions that it could end up smelling of chemicals.
i just scanned my cert on and emailed it to jackie - she said it was perfect so i have all original papers in a file to bring with me. That's something less to worry about now!
Glad to hear you got yours too
My sister got married in cyprus 5 years ago and she was lucky enough to get the air hostess take her dress and hang it up with their coats (this could be worth a try)
when we arrived we were told to hang it somewhere damp for 1 day and then in the heat for the rest of the time leading up to the wedding - she hung it in the bathroom overnight and then in the bedroom for almost a week and on the day it was perfect - don't worry it should be fine
BRIDEZILLAS or what?! What are we all like - panicking over the minor details - REMEMBER Girls on the day you will all be as beautiful as you imagine you will be and ALL EYES WILL BE ON YOU!!
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE - HOPE IT ALL GOES SMOOTHLY!
I think we are all worrying too much about dresses etc. On the day we will be so excited we could probably wear sack cloths and our other halves will still be stunned by us
We will scan ours and email them through to Heather at Ido on Monday and put together a file of all originals to take with us. It is getting really exciting now , all plans are coming together
I will be there 9 days before the wedding so shall be sooo relaxed
