hi everyone...ive only just registered but have read this very long thread and have found it very helpful so thanks to u all.

I'm hoping to get married in May 2009 at St Pauls Bay. I want to book it asap so i know its happening!
I have emailed lindos weddings and eros weddings but am yet to hear anything back from them.

I have a party of 15-20. Just our parents, siblings and nans!
I want a small affair, as 2 weddings have been cancelled in the uk due to money but their was over 200 guest (i have a big family!)
I like the idea of the glass bottoms boat then a meal after the ceremony, but also my in-laws to be have a big villa in Kalathos and I was going to ask them if we could have a bbq or meze in there gardens.

What does everyone think?
Also roughly how much did everything cost all together? I dont want make-up or hairdresser or videography...I just want a photographer really to capture our special day.

I'm very excited to finally have a weeding day in mind...when 2 of them got cancelled I thought it would never happen.

All help appreciated

Katie

hi katie, congratulations on your planned wedding...i get married at st pauls bay in 12 weeks...so excited....it looks beautiul dosn't it..i booked mine with a travel agents along with my holiday. the only thing i didnt really understand was all the legal stuff..but ..now...finally....its in my head and staying there!!!!! just to give you a rough costing here is what we paid for things but ofcourse yours could be a little different...here goes......

wedding booking £239.00
holiday £1450.00 (2 adults and a child)
translation of documents into greek £168.00 (it is per document so it depends on howmany you have)
legalisation of documents £162.00 (this is approx£27.00 per document)
certificate of no impediment £60.00 (£30 each)
wedding insurance £25.00
we were thinking about hiring the glass bottom boat but have now heard that you need to "hold onto your hats" and you get soaked..not sure how true this is...might opt for a champagne cruise!!!!...and im sure there will be little extras on arrival. havnt yet decided where to have our evening reception meal...gonna look when we arrive.....a bit long winded but i hope this helps a little......... :tongue ....good luck with your booking, sue

hi katie...sue again...just to make it clear...the £168.00 translation cost was for all our docs...not £168.00 a doc!!!! am i making sense????? think i need a stong drink :cheers sue

hi
sorry me again.........

I have emailed 2 wedding planners about my wedding in Lindos May 09.

I have heard back from Karen at Lindos wedding, and found her very helpful, I also emailed Eros weddings and its been nearly a week and I havent heard back from her.

Lindos wedding is quite alot more expensive than Eros, and Ive heard good reviews on both.
I was hoping to get married for as little money as poss as 2 uk weddings have been cancelled due to lack of funds ( me and my partner are the worst savers EVER). So naturally I was hopingto use Eros?!

I wanted to book the wedding by the end of the week.......do you think the fact that eros havent got back to me says, thats what they will be like when organising the whole thing?! Afterall they are in another country so I have to trust that she'll do want i ask her too

Has anyone used eros weddings?
what are your thoughts?

HI GIRLIES!! IM BACK!
well oh my god!!! what can i say??
the best day of my life!!!
it was amazing, from the second we arrived at lindos memories we were made to feel like royals, everyone was so amazing.
karen and laurence were superstars............can i just say if anyone is ever debating whether or not to pay the little bit extra to use lindosweddings then DO IT!
the attention to detail from them was second to none.
we met lots of couples there who were with other wedding planners and every time we spoke to them it just confirmed it for us that we had the creme de la creme of wedding planners.

shall i give you a quick run down of the day?...
well we woke up to gorgeous sunshine (after storms thew night before..scary), and had breakfast by the pool, then lay by the pool all day getting so excited, all the hotel guests and staff kept coming up to us saying 'good luck'
then at 2pm we said to each other shall we go get ready now? lol, it was so laid back.

james got ready first whilst i sat on the balcony as i didnt want to see what he was wearing. then he left.
so my hairdresser arrived (fab! well worth the money by the way 110 euros which at first i thought was pricey but wow it was worth it)
then karen and cath arrived and we all had little glass champers and got really excited!

then the violinist knocked the door to escort me down the beach . as i walked through the hotel grounds the guests clappeed me and i welled up.
he was on the beach waiting for me, and when i saw him i cried some more.
the ceremony was perfect! just beautiful, infront of the sea.

we had some fun photos in the sea, and it was all video'd (i really need to point out that the videographer did a fab job, and was so cheap, the dvd is amazing. i never dreamed the quality would be so good, its really stylish and im so glad that we went ahead and booked the professional one)

then karen and laurence had set up a champagne picnic on a private part of the beach for us. it was so romantic!

then off to the beach bar for drinks on the terrace, which they had decorated with petals and even bought us another bottle of champagne (they'd already bought us one, bless them) . as w had no friends or family with us it was lovely to have a celebratory drink with our fab wedding planners and the lovely hotel staff. and james and i both did a speech at this point.

the icing on the cake was the fact that the hotel manager of lindos memories had set up a table and chairs right next to the sea for us on the deserted beach for dinner. it was all candlelit and was breathtaking!. we were blown away that he did this for us, it was free of charge and him and lindos weddings arranged it together. we were astounded!

after that and some drunken greek dancing in the hotel (we chose our wedding day to be on greek night so we could join in the fun at the hotel....that was a right laugh! ),
we then went to our room, which had been decorated free of charge, it was gorgeous! petals on the bed etc.
we sat on our balcony overlooking the sea and opened our wedding cards that we'd brought with us from home. it was pure romantic heaven !
i can honestly say girls, that there is no better way to get married in my opinion, lindos is romance itself! and to be wed in such a place is just the most magical exerience on earth,(oh god im crying again)
you are all so so so so lucky! id do anything to rewind time and do it again. wow! honestly girls, its gonna blow your mind.
i wish you all sooooooooooooooooooo much luck, and i will pop on to get all your details. im figuring out how to put pics on here.
iv got loads on my facebook...im pebblesflowerfairy on there if you want to add me.
good luck my lovelies! enjoy your weddings in paradise!

ps: i know i keep going on about it but i cant praise karen and laurence and thier wonderful assistant cath enough...if any of you are new here then book lindos weddings, i cant recommend them enough xxx

So excited about meeting Karen in the UK to see her portfolio's etc.

Just hunting for a dress, bridemaid dresses etc........love it! x

thanks girls! oh wow im so glad you booked them, you will love karen and lawrence. how exciting! good luck with your plans hun.

when we were there we went to st pauls and it took my breath away, its beautiful! (we went swimming there the morning after the wedding and my husband lost his wedding ring in the sea) so if you find a thin silver band send it my way, lol) luckily we bought our rings out there and they wernt expensive so we got another one as soon as he lost it.

lindy, thats fab, i look forward to seeing you on facebook. good luck with your plans, u lucky thing.
see you all soon xxxxxxxx

Congratulations!

Wonderful to hear about your wedding. We are getting married at St Pauls Bay in Sept 09, and also staying at Memories. We too will be on our own, (or possibly just a couple of friends) so it's nice to know the hotel do those extra touches. Although I have booked through Thomas Cook, so perhaps won't get the same level of service.... (we want a low-key wedding so feel it's not worth using a planner).

Any advice or recommendations you (or any other bride) can give about your time in Lindos would be greatly appreciated.

oh wow wagess, im so glad ur staying in mmories. its the most beautiful amazing place you can imagine.
heres a brilliant tip........... phone apostoles (the manager) and ask for room 504, its the best view in the hotel, our wedding planners recommended it to us. it ovrlooks the sea and its breathtaking. its a lovely room. nicer than a suite in my opinion. (its a double delux room i think.
and its in the perfect location because you can sit on your balcony in the night and listen to th musician who plays just below. its like he is seranading you both. and its lovely greek music, really soft and relaxing.
i would definately tell apostoles that you are getting marrid so that he does extra touches for you.
are youhaving a hairdresser? i wasnt going to but im so glad i changed my mind as it was fantastic, you can book my hairdresser through lindos weddings, and the dvd too, that was fab!
a word of warning ..thomas cook tend to quote you a lot of money for the extras, like th taxi to st pauls and hairdresser and flowers. we met a lovely couple who were marrying with thomas cook and were happy apart from the extras, so i would book any extras seperatly to save yourself money. they quoted them 80 euros for a wedding taxi, when it should cost just 5 , can you believe that.!!
but otherwise they were happy.
i would definately recommend photos if you are going on your own, and the dvd was outstanding too........
the photos cost us 150-200 euros i think (cant remember exactly) and we had 30 prints and a cd of 50 photos, of brilliant quality.
the dvd was really long and even has some clips of lindos on the end so you can reminisce......
all these were booked through lindos weddings too, evn if i had gone with someone els i would have booked these extras with lindos weddings i think as the prices were better.

lindos mmories is in the most perfect location....5 euros in taxi to lindos, or you can walk it, and 5 euros to pefkos too. its so central but so quiet and tranquil. its the most central of all the luxury hotels there. and as its small its so personal too. we were on first name terms with everyone as they are just sop friendly, its the friendliest hotel iv ever been....ooooh your soooooooo lucky, id do anything to go back.
in fact the whole of lindos is so friendly, everyone there is so excited about weddings. th taxi drivers, the popl who work in the town hall when you go there to sign for your marriage, the hotel workers, everyone! they are just all wedding crazy out there.

oh girls, im pining for the place i really am, its so magical. you are all marrying in the most amazing place in the world! xxxxxxxxxxx

waggess,
i forgot to say i think its fab that you are going on your own. it was the most perfect thing in the world to be on ouur own with no one else to think about on our wedding day.
we had a wdding do back here last saturday and to be honeest i didnt enjoy it. i said to james that it was stressful, lots of people to talk to and things to organise. whereas when we were in rhodes it was just us. we could honestly soak up every second of our wedding day and all the romance of it together.
my friend asked if she could come and im so glad that i said id rather she didnt. i would never change a thing...for us, doing it on our own in a lovely low key way was the best thing we could ever have done.
although there was some families there with anothr wedding couple and they all had great fun and that looked fab too. but for us personally, it was perfect doing it alone xxxxxxxxx

pebbles just had a look at your photos..they are great...you look so in love!
As I said before we are getting married at St Pauls, and then are going for either a beach bbq, then walked into town by musicans to a funky bar. Or walked by musicans straight from the chapel to a taverna for a meal.
I wish i could be brave enough to say NO to my family I have 56 ppl to invite but I know only about 15-20 will come.

As you know we are using lindos wedding so hopefully our photos will be just as good! We are thinknig about staying at Lindos View as I have 2 young boys who will be 2 nd 3 when we go, also my nephew will be coming so thought apartments would be better for the kids. However we are thinknig about staying at Lindos Memories for our wedding night and night after without the kids so I have noted down the room number you recommended!

Well I could talk for hours about my wedding and other ppls.
Best not thou ay, ha!
