hey all,
just thought i would let you know that i have found somewhere that sells cider in icmeler, the pyramid restaurant, i asked my beaaautiful bf (who is manager, his mum & dad own pryamid) if they had it and he said they did but they never put it out, so i made him try it and said advertise that you have it and you'll get alot more people requesting it.
so he's put it out as of today.

I usually stick to efes but I do like vodka with peach or apricot juice. i might try it with the cherry juice this year. when i have been in the past i have found strongbow in a couple of the bars but it was quite expensive. :cheers

Hi all
I've scoured this thread & have come up with 2 recommendations for wine:
Cankaya (white) & Kavak (don't know white or red?)
Are there any others I should look out for as I'm a wine drinker in the evenings & don't know how I'd survive my 2 weeks without it :think
Also how much approx would you pay for a bottle of wine with your meal & what's the average cost of a half-decent meal?
(i've read people saying Turkey has got very expensive but as haven't holidayed there before don't really know what to expect & maybe we'll not be shocked compared to prices in Greece/Spain/France?)
Thanks for any replies! Can't wait... less than 2 weeks.... :sun2

hi all,
this may be a silly one, :duh can anyone please tell me what soft drinks you can get in the hotels that are not fizzy, i have a little boy who i wont give fizzy drinks to so unsure whats avaliable as never been to turkey before, we are staying at the delphin in lara beach (if anyone knows thats been there).

i was told by nurse at doctors to not drink water or ice unless botteled, this is why i ask

cheers in advance for any answers :cheers

Hi Laura,

The cherry juice is fantastic (never checked it for additives) likewise the cartons of all types of (fresh?)fruit juices. Most places serve freshy squeezed oranges (maybe top this with bottled water for young children).

Mrs bigtrevster here. Dh usually has his raki with lemonade, I don't usually touch the stuff but last year I tasted raki and cherry juice which I quite liked. Looking forward to going back in 2 weeks to drink plenty more :cheers

We asked in the pyramid for cider and they said they couldnt get it. I loved Mariachi, all the supermarkets stock it but only some of the bars. Its a bit like lager with a bit of lime in it and not as gassy as Efes.

Laura,

There are lots of fruit juices but they usually have some suagr added. Look out for the ones that say 100% juice if you don't want him to have sugar. Most places only serve ice that has been made from botteld water, they get big bags of ice in and they are safe for your drinks. Tap water isn't really suitable for drinking, I lived in Turkey and I never drank it although I know people who did and they were ok, I certainly wouldn't recommend it while you are on holiday though.

Toasted Mallow,

Wine is quite expensive in Turkey, you can expect to pay about £10 a bottle in a restaurant. I like Kavak, it is a white wine, fairly dry. Cankaya, Doluca, Kavaklidere are all quite nice but really Turkish wine is not so good. Tureky ahs got more expensive but it will still be cheaper than Greece, Spain or France. If you eat at local kind of restaurants rather than the toursity ones you will get a much nicer meal and it will be much cheaper, although you may not always be able to get wine with your dinner there.

yes, i liked that too!!!! its lemon beer, like efes light, but 4.5% strengh i think, and went down very well.......its more expensive than normal efes tho, at 5 lira a bottle where we stayed
