Golden sands beach was very clean, although you had to pay for the sunbeds but they were very comfotable with padding
it cost 25 levs, about 7 pounds a day, only downside you have to pay for the toilets on the beach they were cleanish
but with men and women using the same.
Wear you shoes girls and wipe the seat first, there is someone sitting outside taking the money and cleaning, but I think she left the bleach and wet cloth and home, but all in all we have been in worse.

I love Golden Sands......It is a safe clean area and offers great value for money. There are quite a few places to go in the evening so I will mention a few of my faves
WIND BAR This is a lovely outdoor bar on Party Street which is in a superb spot for watching the world go buy sat in the sunshine with a cold beer.. It is 3levs (about £1.20) for 2 pints and has freindly staff
MUPPETS The number 1 Karaoke club on party street packed with people every night the singing starts around 9pm and goes on through the night until it gts light. Look out for the girls on the street with the flyers for free drinks when you go in. A real safe fun place.
BONKERS A disco practically opposite muppets and always guaranteed to be full. Just have to dodge the prostitutes on the way in.
LION PUB The number one place to watch any fooball match which is on while you are away. Also excellent value for good quality hot food , especially between 1pm and 4pm when your whole bill is reduced by 30% inc drinks.
BIG BENS Excellent fish and chips , whenever it takes your fancy ...cooked fresh and open 7 days a week 24 hours a day.
If youve never been to Golden Sands , I totally recommend it...your money goes a long long way and there was no sign of any trouble or problem while I was there. The whole resort felt very clean and safe.

Resort was clean with plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from. My only downside would be that there was no real entertainment in the evenings some of the bars had duets but became very monotonous after a couple of days.
The Chinese restaurant was very good also the Indian Restaurant. The main disco street in the middle of the resort was very busy at night at there were quite a few ladies of the night always lining the streets but they were never a bother.
Also a few beggars but nothing like we were lead to believe before we went.Took a trip to Nessebar which we booked through an outlet in the town, I would reccomend booking through these as they were 50 levs cheaper than the holiday reps provided.
Toilets were everywhere but you had to pay a small amount everytime you used them 50 stoitinkis I think. Resort all in all was very good but lacking in entertainment which would have made it excellent.Clothes were very cheap and everywhere.
Beach was great, selling drinks, food, melon, popcorn, you could go to the beach and not move all day. However the sunbeds and umbrella were quite expensive 7 lev for umbrella and 9 lev for bed.
We actually brought 4 lilos at 8 levs each and just used the umbrellas for the two weeks. Sea was lovley, plenty of paracending and boat trips etc. Bars on beach plentiful and also a Macdonalds.

The resort is very clean. As we were approaching the end of the season things were pretty quiet and I think the entertainment side was winding down but from a family holiday point of view it was fine and alcohol prices were very reasonable. The beach is spotless and is very impressive. I saw absolutely no trouble and don't think I even saw a drunk on the street. There is however a seedy side to the resort with prostitutes blatanly congregating in a particular area, once you've sussed this it is easy enough to steer clear. If you are after a beach / pool type holiday Golden Sands is an excellent option, a modern clean beach front coupled with fair prices meen it gets a big thumbs up for me.

As we are a large family there was not a lot to do in golden sands. maybe because it was nearing the end of the season. But I reckon you could see it all in two days. I think the weather also let it down.
But over all we did enjoy it, but we would not return to golden sands. or maybe in another 20 years we would consider going back as pensioners.

This was our 2nd time in Golden Sands.
Great resort and one that you could walk alone in and feel totally safe.
No drunken yobs causing trouble. Good choice of eating places or bars to stop for a drink.
A hidden gem of a restaurant we discovered on our first visit 3 years ago and was just as good this time around is Villa Aqva beach resort with the Box Tree restaurant. Absolute class, and still remarkably innexpensive. It's at the south end of Golden Sands but shouldn't be missed for a special night out.
Although the locals all speak English, any words spoken to them in Bulgarian are much appreciated so don't be shy!
We'll definitely return again to this resort.

Resort clean, lots of entertainment, nearly every where has live music.Lots of shops selling jeans/belts and other junk.
On the beach you will be charged about £10 for two loungers and an umberella for the day which soon mounts up over two weeks. On the beach you don,t even have to get off your bed to ged a drink they will bring it to you.

My only complains about this place was the mess of the pavements which would be bad for disables people or parents with buggies.People hassling you to coming in to drink or eat the there bar/restaurant and paying 0.50 leva to go to the toilet.
Good points where the weather was warm and sunny for our week anyway. Muppet's karaoke bar was good crack but the beer was a wee bit more expensive. Its worth paying 30leva return for a taxi into Varna for a look around.
Also visit Mama mais restaurant at the sea front. The staff where very friendly, good fun and the food was excellent and if you are drinking or eating there, the toilet was free just say to George at the bar.
I will be back to golden sands next year, its was a good holiday in all.

The area itself is quite pleasant, beach/entertainment and shopping are good. Red light area is a bit seedy, but you can walk past it in a couple of seconds. Always some form of entertainment in most bars and restaurants.
Saw jelly fish on shoreline so I wouldnt attempt to go in the water, so might be a problem for the little ones.
Bit of a fairground of a night and massess of cheap shops, if you like that. One word of warning, I would definitely advise booking the coach transfers from Varna airport to your hotel, everyone gets massively ripped off.
If you arrive late at night a taxi is the only way to get to your hotel, and the taxi drivers charge around 5 times the normal taxi price. We travelled back to Varna on the bus for a day out and paid 1.40 lev - the same route from the airport cost 80 lev in a taxi.
The hotel taxis cost half of that, but even that is inflated, so beware, my husband wasn't bothered but believe me its scary and intimidating when you arrive late at night.

Lots here for all ages from the Ferris Wheel to discos and strip clubs. You do get a bit pestered by girls handing out leaflets, but they aren't too pushy which is good.
The resort backs onto a nature reserve so the area is quite green and unlikely to be anymore built up than it already is.
I would recommend Golden Sands
