Went to see a show copacabana really good costumes are out of this world a good night out
Can recommend Havana but would advise to rethink if you have a young child as journey was quite long on a small bus very hot and a lot of walking
can reccommend swimming with the dolphins this was well worth money and an experience you will never forget make sure you get the photos and make sure a photographer will be there on the day you go as we assumed this and there was no one luckily we took a few of our own but the photographer does much better clearer pictures with frames for a reasonable price
Beach was beautiful and very clean and is only for hotel guests so dont get many vendors only the odd one who sneaks in

The resort was beautiful. Plush flowers and grounds.
Extremly clean. They have four bars which you can use at any time. The entertainment I found to be very nice they really try hard. You can see them practice every day to entertain you.
Well the beach is the best. Can't say enough about how beautiful it is water is clear sand so clean no shells or sea weed. Lots of security so never any problems.
Im comming back again October 15 2005, so hope to see you there.

Varadero, in our opinion is one of the jewels in the Carribbean's crown. The beaches are white, sandy and were never too busy when we were there. Sun loungers were always available and life guards were on duty during daylight hours who operated a flag system to ensure safe bathing. Sand flies can be a problem during late afternoon although repellent usually sees them off as it does with the mosquitoes at dusk.
With temperatures ranging between 36 and 43deg in Sep/Oct sunburn is a problem so take PLENTY of sunscreen. If required, medical care is available in the town centre and is of a very high standard with English speaking doctors.
The Cuban people are very friendly and informative but you should take a plentiful supply of $1 bills for tipping which is always warmly appreciated. We will definitely visit this resort again as their is so much to see and do it isn't possible to fit it all in to one holiday.

The hotel is situated close to the golf course. It is close to Varadero and it is quite cheap to jump a taxi into. There is a open top tourist bus which takes about 2 hours round trip. You will be asked for your ticket by the conductor as you get off the bus, don't give it as you can jump on and off the bus all day and night. It is useful if you want to go the big(ish) modern shopping centre. Take some 50% DEET (people over six years old, for children under that age use mosiguard) as there are mosquitoes there and they can get a bit tiresome unless you protect yourself (spray it OVER your sun cream). The local market has some wonderful things to buy.
One of the favourite things I found was the people with their stores on a bycycle going along the beach selling some lovely jewellery.

The resort was a lovely place, clean and friendly at all times.
Local shops and markets are a "must visit" The beaches were clean and well loked after.
There is a local park to walk round with a lovely little "cave" restaurant, a must for all romantics..
A place on the resort to visit is "Al Capones" this is a little bar/ restaurant with a breath taking view off its patio at the back.
Meanwhile in the day there is a little cabin on the front with a lovely friendly man called fernando who makes lovely coctails from rum, sugar cane and beer!.
Visit Havana for a real taste of Cuba! We recommend swimming with the dolphins too!

varadero cuba
Nice little town - ok to go around on your own. Very clean town and beaches. Good access by open top bus or taxi. The beach at the hotel was lovely.
Havana
Went for a day visit - quite scary, get hassled a lot on the streets and in the markets - wouldn't recommend staying there.

Varadero is one of the nicest places I have visited, it is very clean, the beach is perfect, and the Cuban people are really friendly.
The whole place is a thin srip of land with the sea on one side and the canal on the other. There's a lovely park in the centre of the strip with a boating lake and a couple of bars it makes a nice change from the complex. Also in town there is a few bars that in the evenings have some great cuban music and dancing, even the locals join in dancing in the streets. you never feel at risk.
If you fancy a meal out of the hotel lobster is readily available at very reasonable prices.
We went on a couple of trips one on the Catamaran which was a really great day out your lunch and all your drinks are included in the price. We also went in with the dolphins which was fantastic, you get about half an hour in with them then you watch the dolphin show, don't miss it.

Varadero's main attraction is its fabulous beach. The sand is clean and white and the aquamarine sea shelves gently. Getting about the resort is easy but there isn't that much to see apart from other hotels - it's no place for a shopaholic, there is a small centre called Plaza Americas, but not much to buy there (although there is a nice restaurant). However, there is a supermarket which sells all sorts of things like shampoo soap etc (altho' not suntan lotion, bring as much of that as you need (see below).
We were happy to stay in our lovely hotel nearly all the time (we had 4 very good but tiring days in Havana first, after which husband said he never wanted to see another museum, cathedral or market again and where was the bar...) There are some excursions on offer, we only did the catamaran trip - this offers as an extra a free visit to a dolphinarium, but we waited outside as would not be seen dead in such a place (they actually make the dolphins jump through hoops I believe); we had a great time on the catamaran, the boat goes to a small island Cayo Blanco (looks better from a distance, a bit spoilt close up) for lunch then goes back to Varadero with the sails up, with music and dancing and plenty of rum. Also, the crew will cook enormous lobsters for $10 (a must for seafood fans - they even had some 1000 island sauce). A good day - $75 each.
We went out one evening with two other couples to a great bar downtown with live music that the rep told us about, that was good fun too but head hurt next day.
If I gave one bit of advice to anyone coming to Varadero - it would be take twice as much suntan lotion in a higher factor than you think you will need. The sun was lethal - I swear I got burnt one day when I was under an umbrella. I normally go for Factor 10 but I used 15 the whole time I was there & still got my face burnt. The sun was fiercer than any other place I have been to including Egypt India and Jamaica ! Also - choose your hotel with care - see separate review for Iberostar Tainos which was wonderful !

The Brisas Del Caribe resort in Varedaro, Cuba had the friendly staff. Everyone works so hard to ensure you are enjoying yourself. The beach was just beautiful. The gardens around the resort are lovely. Plenty of things to do at the beach and at the pool. Some of the pools are quite but they offer spanish lessons, cuba salsa lessons, bingo, water sports etc. at the one pool every afternoon. The entertainment staff are so talented. The resort offers a night time show. Some of the shows were very funny and entertaining. They offer different entertainment in the (large) lobby each evening as well. We can't wait to return next year.
