We were out of Season - just before Easter. However, most of the bars and restaurants were starting to open up. We ate in a Chinese called the Xian Gong - never again. There was not a Chinese person in sight and the food left a lot to be desired. We were very lucky to find a bar called "The Hot Cup Cafe" and it's owner Michael made us feel not only welcome but always had a smile on his face and must have been most laid back man in Paphos. We basically worked out way through his menu, going from Greek to British and back again and snack food - my Sister loved the burgers and Gyros and I loved the Chicken Kiev and Souvlaki. Prices were very reasonable too. The really good thing was the situation of this bar - walking straight down the road it was right beside the Paphos Amathus Hotel so you could not miss it. There are loads of other bars just close by, including Irish and British Pubs. We went site seeing at the Harbour and Castle - beware - if it is windy don't try to go up the stairs at the Castle, you will quite literally be blown away. Kato Paphos has something for everying - you definitely won't be disappointed.

when we went the harbour front was closed due to re-building the whole stretch so thst will be completed now and prob be brill!!lots of bars and you do feel safe out at night. beaches ok but are best on other parts of island, will go back even though it has changed over the last 15 years, but so does everything.

Paphos harbour area is very pretty and relaxing, Whilst i was there a lot of building improvements were taking place in the main tourist area, Once this has finished [Summer 08] It will be a lovely place to take a stroll in the evening. The main town i found a little disapointing from a site seeing and shopping point of view.

Tatty, run down and not at all the kind of standard of the other side of the harbour.

We visited some nice beaches around Pathos. Tomb of the Kings is really woth a visit.
Town centre was clean, a lot of bars shut for the winter.
A nice place.

At the moment Paphos seafront is being completely refurbished, with the result that one cannot access the water at all for much of its length. The waterfront will be re-opened in May, so all should be better than ever before. There is beach accessability in the Paphos area, but it's not the best place for sun and sand, you have to move out a little. There are some excellent places to eat in the area. May I suggest Gina's Place, 3 Agiou Antoniou Str, Kato Paphos (tel 26938017), where we had a really good lunch. The best place for an evening meal, which I can't recommend highly enough and which provided one of the most enjoyable restaurant experiences of my life is, however, Efta Ai-Yiorkidhes or the Seven Saint Georges. See www.7stgeorgestavern.com It's at the Ktima Pafos-Yeroskipou border at Anthypolohagou Yeeoryiou M Savva 37. For eveing meals it seems good to book on 99655824 and I advise an early arrival since the food just keeps coming at you'll need to pace yourselves! A taxi is a good idea because the house wine (the only one available) is fabulous. One warning, though, if you can't eat a meal without chips, this isn't the place for you! Check out the Rough Guide for more information.
Finally, yes I will visit Paphos again. I can't comment on the nightlife, though, because we didn't partake this time.

Mainly older people in the resort but as we are in our 50's we may be included in that!! I found Cyprus fairly expensive but that didnt detract from it being a nice place to visit. We will definatley return to Paphos as the local people were so friendly and we loved the area-but watch out for the time share touts....

I stayed in Paphos and the resort was not that clean , the entertainment was good in some bars depending on your age group but a lot of places were shut for the winter.
Did not go down the the beach as they are digging up the front harbour area in paphos.
I would not visit paphos again or cyprus for that matter as I found it to be over priced and needing to do a lot of work to bring it up to standard. Cyprus is going the same way spain did a few years ago.
The prices in cyprus are dear and it has not helped with the Euro coming in. I know prices are dearer in tourist areas but if you cant drive and are stuck in that area its dear to eat out.
We found in average comparing prices of greek meals to meals we were eating in Zante in the sept , cyprus was at least 3-4 euros dearer for the greek meals , that over a two week holiday can add up.

Paphos is a great place to chill, plenty of tavernas & people are friendly if sometimes a little over zealous about getting you into their restaurants. I loved it & will return one day after I have completed my world tour, ha-ha! Happy days!

The resort was very clean and there was plenty around to do even out of season. Most things were a short walk or bus ride away but plenty all the same.
Only downside is beach as not much of a beach but never took away from resort too much as lovely part of island.
