Expert Opinion

Paphos is a picturesque town with a small harbour. There are lots of touristy shops and restaurants along the front but you can venture into the back streets for other options, or into Paphos old tow…

The waterpark was fantastic, but expensive and we became regulars at a great pub called Zorros. The harbour was very attractive and I'm sure once the building work has finished it will look great.

Flambe resteraunt, Argo and Moonlight restaurant are well worth a visit.

Boy racers and men hanging about on street corners made me feel uncomfortable at times.

Resort was very clean with plenty of restaurants to choose from. Didn't go to the beach in Paphos, we took a bus ride to Coral Bay which was beautiful.

Overall I think Paphos is a very friendly, busy and large resort. My family have been going there every year for the last 10 years with great fun, and will continue to go there. However, personally, I prefer the quieter and quainter resorts. Paphos was not really my cup of tea. Personal preference. Would probably visit a quieter resort in Cyprus next time.

Paphos is a resort for all ages. We went in a party of 60 people, and everyone loved it! The main hub of activity is around the harbour area, where the are lots of restaurants catering for all tastes. There are also tourist attractions in this area, including historical mosaics, and Paphos castle. Close to the harbour is bar street, which as the name suggets, is where the nightlife is! And wow, what a good night is to be had! There are a large number of bars playing all different types of music, and with varying degrees of entertainment so you can join in as much or as little as you want to. Unlike some other european holiday resorts, you feel very safe in a night out in Paphos, and at weekends, lots of local Cypriots come out around bar street to socialise, which we took as a good sign.
In contrast to bar street and the tourist orientated harbour area, is old town Paphos, which is where the local Cyporiots work, shop and dine, and is a good place to do a bit of shopping, and have a look around.
If you like to be more active, there are several day trips, including the waterpark, which is a good day out. I would avoid Adonis Baths, as the road to get there is lethal, and it is not really worth it when you get there! It was 8 euros entrance fee and we were only there for 15 minutes! Other than that, other guests in our party really recommended a trip into the Troodos Mountains.
There really is a massive choice of things to do.
Paphos is not really a beach resort, as although the beaches are pretty to look at, there are rocks going into the sea, so they are not ideal for swimming. I have only scored the beaches a 3 due to these rocks, but they are spotlessly clean and well looked after. However, the nearby resort of Coral Bay has a beautiful beach with nice soft sand going down into the water, so it is well worth a visit.
All in all, this is one of the best resorts, if not, the best, that I have ever been to. It has something for everyone, and we are eager to go back! We would definitely recommend it.

Paphos is hopefully at the end of some very large resort modernisation - most of the harbour/sea walk was closed due to these works. Part was opened at the end of our week and it looked lovely - what they had managed to complete. Care had to be taken when walking, as at times the foot paths stopped abruptly and then started a few feet away; the roads were similar with large humps and bumps in them. The dust levels in parts was pretty bad.

There were plenty of restaurants for every taste and we didn't have a bad meal. Prices down at the harbour were a little more expensive but they were still good meals.

The beaches at Paphos were small but clean and more pebbles than sand.

We will certainly visit Paphos again and hope to do so later this year.

The resort is quite spread out and when we visited alot of work was being carried out in the harbour area as it is being pedestrianised. The harbour area is very nice with lots of bars and restaurants. There are plenty of shops (a small Peacocks and a Debenhams. It's a bus ride into the old town of Paphos where there's a indoor market everyday and more shops. We didn't experience any entertainment other than in our hotel but most of the bars show Sky Sports etc.
The beach is very picturesque with quite a number of small rocky bays, but there's no vast areas of sand.

Not much in the way of beaches, better one at Coral Bay. Nice harbour area with cafes and restaurants. Good view from the top of the fort. Don't miss the mosaics, the entrance is right by the harbour.

The resort looks like ghost town when you travel from the airport, and you have to find your feet there but afterwards the resort has everything you need including loys of leather shops with good fakes! the entertainmet in march is lacked but in the main season bar street which is just next to the hotel is supposed to be very good. the weather in march is warm with max 21 degrees, but can get cloudy at times, night times are quite chilly but not antartic weathers! it is a very good place to visit if you are going away and want a chocolate tan! the beach was under construction when we went it will be complete in may 2008, coral bay was not all that good, and the resturant there is not all the best. i would come bck to paphos any day.

The area is a mixture of sand and pebbles and in places rocks. The resort was still in the process of getting ready for the summer season to begin(April onwards) and we more more than glad not to be near the centre as with the clubs, pubs and other entertainment, it would be too much. Unless you are a sun worshipper, I think one week is long enough but should you hire a car, then it could make a big difference as you can travel further afield and off course they do drive on the left which will help you.be careful if hiring a car that they don't charge for the full tank (unless you are intending travellling big distances. The island is not that big so it is beeter to fill the car up before you give it back.
